I want to cry...ticket price reduction

So everyone told me to buy our tickets far ahead of time because gas prices were going up, etc...At one point they were $79 but dh told us to wait so by the time we booked they were $89. I got our tickets on Delta Song from JFK to save money since Newark was so expensive...flash forward 4 months and here I am sitting here listening to non-stop radio commercials and reading daily posts that both our flight on Song from JFK and Jet Blue from Newark are both booking at $59 each way for our dates. How do I get over the fact that I spent $300 more than I needed to? I just want to cry

Easy: you're going to Disney World! How bad can it be?

You could call Song to see what their policies are in this case; you might get some of that back on a future credit, or you might not. In any event, you are still going for less than $200 rt, which isn't the best deal you could have gotten, but it isn't bad either.

Well, I always fly Southwest as if prices go down they will let you rebook at lower fare and give you a credit for the difference that you can use toward your next trip up to a year later!
I'd call Song and ask for a refund of the difference or at least a credit!
Tell them you are planning another trip and the credit will ensure that you fly Song next time!

I fly Delta all the time and they definitely will give you a credit for what you overpaid but you have to call them. Very easy and you could have tickets for next year's trip!

I feel exactly as the OP. I, too, fell into the panic that gas prices were going up, so I better get my airfare (for Oct.) Two weeks after I booked, they went down close to $100 per ticket! I booked Continental, so I think I am stuck (unless I pay the $100 change fee which negates any savings). I am curious to hear if the OP had any luck getting even a credit for future travel?

When you work really hard to find the best deal on all pieces of your trip, a missed savings like this is REALLY tough to handle. But, at least we are GOING TO DW!

Well, if it makes you feel better, the same thing happened to me. I really have bad luck and missing out on good airfare is just par for me...lol. I JUST bought my plane tickets for our December trip and paid $74 one way on AA. Last week, I went online and I could have gotten SW for $45 a ticket. Oh, and the kicker is that I am flying out of O'Hare and if I would have waited, I could have flown out of Midway...Midway is just a few miles from me. O'Hare is the biggest PIA to get to!!!! I could just cry.

We are also going to DL in January. I told the family that I'm going to wait to get the tickets to see if we can get something cheaper. With my luck, we'll end up paying $500 rt!!!!

I am in the exact same boat. My DBF kept telling me that the prices were only going to get higher b/c of the gas so I went and purchased the tickets $79 going down and $89 coming back Song Airlines from LGA to Orlando. Now they are so low. I did call song and there is a $25 change fee then you get whatever credit back towards a future flight.

I wasn't even going to buy them but when you have someone telling you "prices are going to rise" I didn't want to take the chance. Now I wish I listened to myself.

Delta has started clamping down due to thier major losses. While they will give you a credit according to the agreement they have the right to charge you the change fee... they have been charging that a LOT more lately. You might get lucky, but you might not. No gurantees.

I got a credit from AirTran after our flight when to $69 from $79 (x5 people, that's $100 savings). Then just last week it went to $49! I didn't even bother to call, figuring they would only give you a credit once. The credit is good for up to a year after your initial purchase. I think in the future we will "plan" to drive, and then if any great sales come up closer to our travel, we'll snag 'em. I hate not having my plans in place, though!

I recently made some changes to a Song flight reservation. The change fee on Song is $25 per ticket - not bad compared to some other airlines. You can get a voucher for any price difference over the $25.

We did the same thing with Airtran and they are now $20.00 less a ticket (x3 = $60) how do you get a credit??

$300? There are 10 of you going and you paid for all those tix? I'd be crying over that rather than the prices.
