I want the Magical Express (Not Mears, Or some other colored bus)

The past two trips my family has ended up on a Yellow Mears and a Cruise line bus to get to our resort.

While the video played on the bus is the same and we still love the ride of anticipation towards the WDW arches... my kids have been bummed out (okay me too) that we are not riding the DME bus with the Mickey striped logos.

I understand it's a capacity issue but come on! Am I alone? :confused3

We didn't get the DME bus either. Kind of a let down. But, we got to the resort OK anyway:banana:

Mears uses non DME buses during times of peak demand. Obviously they're not going to lease DME buses which will only be required a few hours a day.

The question is if you'd rather ride a DCL bus or would you rather wait an extra hour. Wait until the DME bus is completely full and Mears might not need to use other buses.

I don't know if you're alone but I suspect you're in the minority. Most of us would rather get to WDW faster.

:thumbsup2I agree could not even tell you what type of bus we have had on our trips

And for FREE.

You have the option to pay about $65 one way for a cab or car service, or $21 per person one way for the Mears shuttle, where you also will not get your choice of what color your vehicle is.

What difference does it make? once you are on it it doesn't look any different inside.

I stated the reason why.. it's not the DME bus as set in expectations, yes, we get to the resort but the trip arriving sets the stage... And for those of you who are simply impatient about getting to your resort, the post about Taxi's is your answer.

It's good to know that the transportation threads are as hostile as the Strategy threads... Great Disney Magic over here.

:confused3 Just because other people don't care which bus takes them to WDW?

Huh? What is the deal lately? If someone disagrees with you they are automatically hositle or mean or some other nasty word.

You asked, OP, if you were alone in your need to a real ME bus. People are just answering you. If you didn't want to know the answer, you shouldn't have asked the question. Good grief gerty.

Yours is the only hostile post I've seen in this thread. I didn't realize that you were only interested in responses that agree with your opinion.

If you really feel that you would rather wait for a DME bus, I'm sure you can. It may take a few hours, though. If you would find that more magical then by all means, go for it. I would prefer to get there more quickly, but you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

Personally we could care less what the vehicle looks like. We just wanna get to WDW! :)

I can understand a child being upset, their perception is far different than the logics an adult can run through.... either way enjoy your vacation whether you are on a DME bus or a Mears bus... in the end they are all run by Mears anyways.

Yes you are alone. You are the only hostile poster in this thread and the only one who cares what logo is on the bus.

The rest of us are happy Mears and Disney is using common sense. Supplementing the DME buses as necessary. Keeps wait times down. Allows Disney to keep the service free.

What ever happened to just being grateful that 'free' transportation is provided? I never understand posts like this.....or the many posts people make asking how and what they can do to make their trip 'more magical'.

Isn't just going to Disney magical enough? Why do people feel they have to work so hard to make it into something more....something better?

Can't blame the kids either....from experience, I've planned great trips and after coming home, the kids end up talking more about some random, seemingly unimportant thing we did as the highlight of the trip! I think we grownups tend to feel we have to 'do more' to make it magical.

It's a bus. It gets you to your resort quickly and efficiently so you can begin your 'magical' vacation. Quite honestly, I'm surprised your kids would even notice the difference if it wasn't pointed out to them. :confused3

The buses all look the same on the inside. So who cares what it looks like on the outside? It's a wonderful free service...one of the few free things you can get from Disney.

And just remember OP the unofficial motto of the Transporation board is...There is no Pixie Dust on the Transportation board. But you will find lots of good common sense and travel information.

Sorry, I'm not willing to pay for a taxi so that YOU can ride in a specific bus.

If it matters a lot to you, I'm sure that you can hang around the airport until an appropriately decorated bus arrives. That way, we all win - those of us who are "simply impatient about getting to your resort" (i.e. the ones who want to use DME the way in which it is designed), get to our resorts quickly. Those (i.e. you) who care more about the outside of the bus, can get the bus you want. Win-Win.

Oh, and I had NO expectations set by DME as to what the outside of my bus would look like.

Finally, you may want to consider the fact that the commonality between the hostile strategy board and the mean transportation board is you.

Yes you are alone. I really don't get the problem? You travel INSIDE the bus and cannot even see the exterior and the same video is played.

What more would you like?

Trying to enjoy my last day at WDW guys. Haven't seen any hostile responses..just the OPs response. So....play nicely. I am cranky enough at this point!!

Last time (early December 2010) we got a Mears bus that played the Incredibles for the whole ride to our resort.

No video with Mickey, Minnie & gang.... no trumpets playing .... no park tips.... nothing to get us hyped up for finally being in Orlando. I must say it was a great disappointment. PLUS we never got to see the end of the movie. It was a small thing, but the ME bus usually sets the tone for the beginning of our trip and we did miss the excitement of that video for the ride.

So there can be a noticeable difference inside the bus too.

All DME buses are operated by Mears Transportation and when they need to, they use buses from their whole fleet, not just the specially painted DME ones. You really can't put in a request for a bus that is painted a certain way, unless you tell the folks at the DME that you want to wait for the proper-looking bus, should the one they try to put you on fail to meet your expectations. But it will just take you longer to get to WDW then...

Personally it makes absolutely no difference to me what the bus looks like, except that I don't like the ones that are totally covered in advertising, but that's because you can't really see out the window and not because it doesn't look like a DME bus is supposed to look. Tell you the truth I wouldn't care about the inside either as I watch my Ipod, and not the bus video.
