I want no new EPCOT countries.

Just a thought here.

Everybody always wants new countries added to EPCOT. I don't.

I wish they would spend some money on adding rides or some type of attractions at the counties that have nothing but stores and restaurants.

Why do countries like Italy, Germany, England and Japan have nothing.

I often think EPCOT is just a really nice mall.

Just something to think about.:earsboy:

Most of the countries at EPCOT fund their own pavilion. The Canada pavilion is owned and operated by WDW, as are one or two others. But the rest of them fall more under the umbrella of the given country--it's basically like having a Chamber of Commerce in Orlando.

As such, WDW does have its limitations on what it can "force" the country to do with the pavilion (new rides, updating rides / films, new restaurants, etc.)

Any new country added would certainly have its construction and operations funded by the given country.

I love World Showcase and I don't really think it needs rides or anything. There are lots of other places in the parks if that is what you are into. I love the shopping, the dining, the fabulous entertainment, talking with the cast members from other countries, etc. It's our favorite part of WDW, and we would like to see a few new countries added. If they want to throw in a few rides or something that's fine, too, but it's not why we go there.

I would love to see Greece or New Zealand added to WS. With or without rides. I think they need to update the ride in Mexico, and maybe get rid of some of the other films in other countries.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I always see Epcot's World Showcase as a chance to see a little bit about the countries. IMO, the shows, bands, and interaction with the CMs from each country are the big draw. The restaurants are a close second.

I enjoy the rides that are there, like Maelstrom or El Rio Del Tiempo, but I am not looking for any e-ticket type of ride here. Put those in Future World. I would enjoy the films if you didn't have to stand to see them.

But I would love to see some new countries too.

I would love to see a new country too. After 3 trips in the past 5 years, WS has become a little boring to me :rolleyes1   . Would definetely like to see something new.

WS for us has become mostly for meals and a few shops. All of the films(except for China) are nice, but we've seen them so many times we're not really interested any more. Illuminations is still worthwhile of course:earsboy:

We hardly go into the shops, and we still haven't seen everything in the World Showcase. We like to buy a beer or glass of wine, stroll around, and watch the shows (Off Kilter & Alberta Bound in Canada, the band and bellydancer in Morocco, Britsh Invasion in England, the acrobats in China, the showmen in France, etc.).

We like to eat at the different restaurants, and go on the rides in Mexico and Norway. We went to Epcot 4 times over a period of 6 months, and never got bored (of course, we park hopped too, and that prevents ya from getting bored with any one park).

Don't forget the other Epcot attractions outside of the World Showcase.

I love the WS. It's my favorite part of the parks. I wish they would add a new country though. They have that big section on the lake between China and Germany that is just begging for a pavillion. Yeah it takes a lot of money and all, but one day they will do it. Personally I wish they would add a film to each country that lacks one too. I can wish, right?

I think the WS is one of the best places for adults in WDW... I don't mind that there are not alot of rides there and my DGF and I love "shopping" in the different countries. That being said...It would be kind of fun if they opened a Switzerland Pavillion (I went to boarding school there for a year in 1984, and it is a beautiful country). They could incorporate a ride similar to The Matterhorn (from CA Disneyland), have chocolate shops, watches...etc. Just a thought. :p

I wouldn't mind another ride or two but I'd hate to see World Showcase become overwhelmed with rides. Personally I'd rather see another country or two and a decent full serve restaurant in the USA pavilion.

I wouldn't mind the Outback gettin' thrown into the mix. I think that WS has a good setup but does need a lil' improvement here and there. But then again, there's ALWAYS room for improvement, right?

foobs:earsboy:

A mall!!
Never thought about that, but in a way you are right.
However--the only way to jump things up a notch is probably to add some new countries. I doubt seriously any current country will add anything.
However, I don't think "thrill" rides would have any place in the World Showcase--but things like the River of Time, Maelstrom, etc would be nice additions.
I'm not holding my breath.

It would be nice to see some new countries. Maybe India, showing some of the Hindi culture. Or a new African country. Morrocco is cool, but there are lot more countries in africa that would be neat to explore. The Aussies need a home as well. Oh the possibilities!!!
The nice thing about World Showcase is the fact that it's geared to grown ups. It's nice to relax with a glass of wine and watch the performers at a more leisurely pace. No rushing from ride to ride there!

I think its perfect the way it is. The WS is one of my top things to do. I spend a couple of hours back there browsing the shops and stuff. It is very informative and very cultural.

Not to mention - I LOVE TO EAT and try different foods - the WS makes that very easy!

I wanted to add to my original post that if WDW does move forward with plans to add a new country to the WS, I think it goes without saying that the new pavilion would be one of the most dynamic in the park. They certainly wouldn't just add some buildings and a restaurant. I have to believe there would be some form of attraction associated with the pavilion.

I would LOVE to see a new country! Personally, I'd like to see Korea, but I'm biased:

There's no good place to get Korean food anywhere in WDW! Europe has enough representation. Of course, you would think the Suits would add a country for wherever they have the most visitors from that doesn't already have a WS country.

Besides,I enjoy the nice clean split between the "feel" of FW and WS.

India, Switzerland, Korea, Greece and Australia are all great ideas for new countries. I wonder if this is something they are considering.

Spain is the country I have seen most frequently mentioned as a potential addition.

It doesn't all have to be rides.

More movies about the countries would be great.

There are not thril rides in WS that is fine. But there could be more attractions that show the cultures.
