"I Wanna See My Castle!" October 2013 TR *COMPLETE* **NEW TR LINK!!** 7/3

I don't know that I'll ever tire of seeing the Queue to Ariel's Ride. Once you get past that, East and West Coast are the same, but that queue... home run.

Yeah, I'd say I'm with your dad on Small World. :rolleyes2

OK, so THAT's how the Tangled bathrooms are supposed to look in photographs. Mine look so different, lol.

Wait, wow... WHAT?!! Just Wendy. That's pretty strange. But that sure is a cute interaction with Wendy. I can only imagine what it would be like if Peter was there. Wendy looked like she was enjoying it too.

I HATE ENTITLED PEOPLE (and I don't use the word hate lightly). The worst thing about that whole ordeal is once the parade passes (rather quickly) into the hub, you're free and clear to cross. PLUS IT'S MOVE IT SHAKE IT!!! Stop, watch and enjoy!!!
OK, now the song's in my head and I want to go back MORE THAN EVER.

FYI, that Minnie is a serious flirt. Mickey needs to take note.

Just goes to show that if one DISmeet window closes, another one opens. :goodvibes

I found your trip report today during nap time and read the whole thing all the way through up until your latest update! Loving it! :goodvibes

I saw yall were from Louisiana! My mama grew up in Mandeville, so we have some big time Saints fans up here in VA! Not to mention, my Grandma is already getting King Cakes all ready to mail!

Can't wait to hear about your son getting his haircut!

Great updates!!

It looks like you had a better ride on It's a Small World than I did! ;) And totally agree with you, the Hippo is the best part of that attraction. I'm still having a hard time figuring out what got the hippo to feel that way. :lmao:

What a great meet and greet with Wendy! I think that's one of the characters we have not met yet.

Our kids love the Tiki Room so we always do it at least once. For me the Tiki song is a bigger earworm than It's a Small World. :rotfl:

Yay! Our meet! :cool1: I am so glad you saw me because as we were walking down the street I was wondering where you guys were in the park and then literally two seconds later I hear my name! ::yes::

That video of Paxton is A-Dorable!

And the pictures in this update are fabulous. I especially love the LM pictures and the IASW pictures. But your poor dad. Not an IASW fan I take it. :rotfl2:

And what's with those women walking out in the middle of the parade? Seriously, who does that? :confused3

Loving all the photos in these updates- the colors are so crisp and bright!

YAYYY the Tangled area! It's so wonderful! DH did a good job at taking lots of photos ;)

DS looks so cute with Wendy, I'm sorry Peter wasn't there to join her :(

Omgosh that restroom pumpkin is so funny, good find!

I love your photos of Little Mermaid! Oh, they make me want to go on the attraction. I think it's cool you first rode it in Disneyland. Usually, with DISers on this thread, it's the other way around. :rotfl:

What a cute interaction with Wendy. Her face when she learned Paxton was going to be Peter Pan for Halloween is priceless. I always think anyone who's not the main princesses, Toy Story, Incredible, etc get a kick out of someone wanting to be their character.

How cool you ran into Mary Ellen! I remembered seeing that photo on her facebook page and got excited, because I knew I'd be able to read about the interaction in both of your TRs. :rotfl2: DISmeets are always so cool. Glad you got to see someone since you and Missy couldn't coordinate times.

Walking in front of a parade? What? :confused3 I can't even fathom how that's thought of as okay in someone's mind. There's these huge floats blocking the street and people dancing all around, like you can just cut them off.

Wow such awesome pictures, especially of Prince Eric's castle! I just love that whole area, it's so perfect! :cool1:

Haha, I love It's a Small World, but my DH hates it so we don't get to go on much. :confused3

I love the song for the Tiki Room too! But I can't stand the show haha!

OMG that's so cool that you ran into MEK! I've wanted to meet her for a long time, but we're never in Disney at the same time!

Once again! Amazing pictures! Dev likes the little mermaid but he has never seen the movie! I need to show it to him! I'm glad Paxton was happy to meet Wendy! We got Peter but not Wendy! They need to like be together all the time!

Ahhhh, Eric's castle.

Your pictures on Ariel and small world are so good! They make my phone pics look like... phone pics.

We understand each other. 'Just bathrooms' don't look like that. So beautiful.

Entitled people. Ew. Better stuck on the sidewalk than stuck in a hospital bed.

So awesome that you got to meet up with MEK!

There was hardly any wait, so soon enough, we were getting situated in our boat and taking off on the happiest cruise that ever sailed! Unless you are my dad, he was setting off into one of the seven levels of Hell.
:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

No offense to the entire rest of the ride, but the drunk hippo is seriously the best thing about this whole attraction. Just sayin'.
Well, when you put it that way... :rotfl2:

It would take quite a bit to get a hippo drunk enough to tolerate being locked in there 24/7.:lmao:

Ahhh, don't you just feel happy now after looking at all of those?? I know I do! I probably could have stayed in the Kingdom of Corona the rest of the day and braided my hair
I still don't get it. Other princesses get new rides. Rapunzel gets a restroom.

Thankfully, there were no meltdowns, and he seemed to really enjoy the show for the most part. The drummer tiki guys made him a little nervous but other than that, he enjoyed himself!
I'm glad that he dealt with the loud noises well enough to enjoy the show.

Okay, before I get to the pictures, I just have to say we saw some incredibly entitled people when we got up to view the parade in front of Casey's!
Some people just don't get it. Too bad they can't just hit them with a float. Just to send a message. :rolleyes1

I was still keeping my eyes peeled for a Missy or Franklin sighting, but I spotted another familiar face instead...Mary Ellen (MEK)!! I'm sure I scared the heck out of her because she was walking towards me on the sidewalk and I just kind of jumped in front of her and said, "HEY!" :rotfl:
Wow. Nice surprise Dis meet! :thumbsup2

That Little Mermaid queue is exquisite! So much detail, the colors are fabulous, and there's so much to look at! It would definitely keep anyone entertained if they had to wait for a while.

YAY you got to visit the TANGLED BATHROOMS!!! Those are the most beautiful things ever, seriously. You're totally immersed in Corona and it's WONDERFUL. Sigh. I wish I was back there right now. You got some AMAZING pictures there (and everywhere else too, lol)!

That Wendy meet and greet is too cute for words! Paxton looks so enthused; his little smile is adorable! Haha, his "floppy wings" are also adorable; kids are just so unpredictable!

Can't wait to read about your Harmony Barber Shop experience!

I had also been on the ride in California, so the queue was a lot more interesting to me than the ride! It's absolutely stunning!

:lmao: my dad feels the same way about It's a Small World. He just turns off his hearing aids at this point and waits for it to be over.

I recently gave my boyfriend the idea to propose to me at the Tangled bathrooms. He couldn't understand why I'd want our proposal to be in a bathroom area...obviously he hasn't been there :rotfl: So beautiful!

Ughhh, I can't believe how some people act during the Disney parades. No common sense.

I completely agree that Ariel hands down has the best castle. The one is NFL is just perfect! I love the ride too, its so colorful!

My Dad feels the same way as yours about Its a Small World! He attributes it to getting stuck on there for an hour one time :rotfl2:

The Tangled bathrooms are just too perfect, they are so well done and beautiful. I love all your pictures!

The Wendy meet and greet sounded great! I missed her this year, next time!

Great parade pics! They came out great!

They did an amazing job with the queue for that attraction, especially considering the pretty lame one they have over at DCA.

Reading the replies, this seems to be a reoccurring theme with dads. :rotfl:

We were happy to meet Wendy even though Peter wasn't around because she was one we had never seen before.

Thanks!

I don't know that I'll ever tire of seeing the Queue to Ariel's Ride. Once you get past that, East and West Coast are the same, but that queue... home run.

Yeah, I'd say I'm with your dad on Small World. :rolleyes2

FYI, that Minnie is a serious flirt. Mickey needs to take note.

Just goes to show that if one DISmeet window closes, another one opens. :goodvibes

Exactly! That queue is just phenomenal for a pretty basic (although very well done) dark ride. :thumbsup2

No, I never would have guessed... ;)

No Peter was kind of a bummer, but Wendy was still pretty awesome, and so great with DS. I'm sure Peter just got caught by the Indians or was making out with Tiger Lily or something.

People were VICIOUS! The first mom running across with her daughter practically shoved the CM out of the way to get past him. And the second lady acted so surprised and angry even though I told her she wasn't going to be able to cross. :confused3 I don't understand people not understanding it's for yours AND the performers safety!! Enjoy the music & dance!

:goodvibes While it was disappointing to miss out on a meet I had been looking forward to, it was fun to stumble upon one I had also been looking forward to!

:welcome:

Don't have any family in Mandeville, but several friends, so I'm familiar with the area. I'm sure although displaced, your family still bleeds black & gold like we do! :goodvibes And YES!! It's finally KING CAKE SEASON!! That's so nice that your grandma sends you some. They are one of the best things to happen all year. Unfortunately it's hard to get the really good ones in Lafayette, the ones everyone gets are from a donut place so they are basically big donut cakes with filling and icing. But better than nothing!

Great updates!!

It looks like you had a better ride on It's a Small World than I did! ;) And totally agree with you, the Hippo is the best part of that attraction. I'm still having a hard time figuring out what got the hippo to feel that way. :lmao:

Our kids love the Tiki Room so we always do it at least once. For me the Tiki song is a bigger earworm than It's a Small World. :rotfl:

Maybe the water in Small World is laced with some vodka or something. :rotfl:

I wonder if she was not just out so much because PPF was down? :confused3 Whatever the reason, we were happy to see her.

:lmao: I can sympathize. I used to hate the Tiki Room song, but then I just had to get over it because Paxton always asked to listen to it. So now it doesn't bother me anymore. Come to think of it, same as the Small World song!

Yay! Our meet! :cool1: I am so glad you saw me because as we were walking down the street I was wondering where you guys were in the park and then literally two seconds later I hear my name! ::yes::

That video of Paxton is A-Dorable!

It was so funny just literally running into you, on Main Street of all places where there always seems to be tons of people!

Thanks! DH did a great job and was very willing to capture every nook and cranny of both the Ariel queue and the Tangled area.

He HATES Small World, and the only reason he rode was because of Paxton requesting it. :rotfl:

People are sooooo stupid and inconsiderate.

Thanks! DH is tirelessly editing those photos for me and perfecting them to share with y'all! :goodvibes

The Tangled area was so much more fabulous than I could have imagined!

He didn't seem disappointed to miss Peter, which was definitely a good thing. That could have been one ridiculous meltdown otherwise!

I don't even know if he pointed it out to me at the time but I saw it when we were looking through pictures and thought it was so great, I had to share!

I love your photos of Little Mermaid! Oh, they make me want to go on the attraction. I think it's cool you first rode it in Disneyland. Usually, with DISers on this thread, it's the other way around. :rotfl:

I know, for some reason these updates more than any others had me wanting to be back in Magic Kingdom RIGHT NOW.

Wendy was absolutely amazing with Paxton, and as we left I was so glad we had decided to stay and meet her. You're probably right about the lesser characters loving the attention when kids pick them over the popular characters.

Running into Mary Ellen (almost literally) was so fun! I knew SO MANY PEOPLE who were going to be in Disney the same time as us (mostly friends from high school taking their kids) and was constantly on the lookout for their familiar faces, but I never saw any of them. MEK was the only person I randomly happened upon from the DIS!

People were so incredibly rude and inconsiderate during that parade. Enjoy the moment and cross the street when it moves on!

The Little Mermaid section was definitely my favorite part of New FL! That castle is amazingly well done.

Once you are bringing kids, Brandon won't have a choice!! :rotfl:

I'm usually not in Disney at the exact same time as any of the people I follow regularly, but this time there were several! It made it a lot more fun!

Once again! Amazing pictures! Dev likes the little mermaid but he has never seen the movie! I need to show it to him! I'm glad Paxton was happy to meet Wendy! We got Peter but not Wendy! They need to like be together all the time!

Yeah, he should see it! Paxton enjoys the music. :goodvibes That's so strange that y'all got Peter but not Wendy. You're right, they should be together all the time!

I have been looking forward to Eric's castle for a looooong time, and it didn't disappoint!!

I feel your pain, I took a bunch on my phone and thought they looked okay until I saw the ones DH took on a REAL camera!!

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Well, when you put it that way... :rotfl2:

It would take quite a bit to get a hippo drunk enough to tolerate being locked in there 24/7.:lmao:

I still don't get it. Other princesses get new rides. Rapunzel gets a restroom.

I'm glad that he dealt with the loud noises well enough to enjoy the show.

Some people just don't get it. Too bad they can't just hit them with a float. Just to send a message. :rolleyes1

Wow. Nice surprise Dis meet! :thumbsup2

Yeah, I'm sure some strong drinks are required for that hippo to put up with that work environment for decades at a time!!

I definitely wish Rapunzel was represented in an actual attraction, because she does not get enough love in the parks. However, I was happy to revel in the amazing space they did give to her. Maybe the rave reviews over a BATHROOM will wake Disney up to realize she needs her own ride!

While I don't enjoy seeing people get hurt, I wouldn't have minded seeing one of them just get clipped with the float and maybe twist an ankle or something. :rotfl:

It was a great DIS meet! Just wish we weren't running off to an appointment so we could have hung out longer.

Can't wait to read about your Harmony Barber Shop experience!

Luckily we DIDN'T have to wait awhile, but I know what you mean. A long wait goes by so much quicker when you have lots of amazing things to look at and find!

Thanks! DH definitely did the Tangled area justice for me. :) Now I can relive it in my photos and pretend I am still there. Oh if only...

I really thought when she asked him if they should fly together he would be SO into it...and then he just zoned out. Weird kid! But it was still very cute to watch her interact with him. She was amazing.

Yes, the queue in California is quite pitiful, so I'm glad they went all out in WDW since it's essentially the exact same ride.

Oh my gosh, I think my dad would be much more agreeable to it if he could "mute" the song! :lmao:

Okay, that idea is LITERALLY PERFECT!!!!! I hope he does it!!

I'm having a "want to be back at WDW" day too! I asked Aria on our way to daycare today if she wants to go back to Disney world. I am going to be such a bad influence LOL!! She said yes now i need to get planning! :rotfl:

Once again photos are amazing. I love the details you showed from the tangled restrooms, even if it does irk me that it's JUST restrooms and stroller parking! UGH! lol.

Loved the Wendy meet too, so awesome!! Love the pics and the interaction. The ariel ride & line we really do love too! Can't wait to do it at DCA, it was just being built last time I was there.

I hate getting "caught" by the parade but so silly that people think they can just run across!! UGH!

Can't wait to see how the haircut goes!! :goodvibes

I cant wait to go ride little mermaid again. We rode the day of the grand opening and had a great time, but definitely didn't take enough time to soak it in. I love the music, but I do remember being wierded out by her hair or something ( I really cant remember what it was but maybe it was the hair, although in your pics it doesn't look too bad..who knows lol)

The drunk hippo...haha too funny. I will have to be on the lookout.

I will admit that I totally super scrolled past the tangled bathrooms. It feels weird to say that I'm waiting to look at pictures of a bathroom to see it in person :lmao:

What a great meeting with Wendy! He obviously loved it. I cant wait to see a meeting with Peter Pan goes :)

Your parade pictures are great!! The colors are awesome. Some of my favorite I have seen.

I just LOVED Eric's castle area too!! -the queue is definitely one of Disney's finest! All of those details.... so amazing and well thought out. Of course, Ariel is a favorite in our house.... so we all loved the ride as well!

Unless you are my dad, he was setting off into one of the seven levels of Hell.
hahaha! :rotfl2: Ah come on, how can he not love IASW?

Yay! Thank you for all of those pics of the Tangled bathrooms area. We passed by that area a couple of times but it was always when we were heading somewhere that we needed to be... so never a good time to stop and check out all of the details :sad2: Perfection!

Aww, what a fabulous meet with Wendy!! So sweet! I bet you're glad that you didn't leave the line.

Can't wait to hear about Paxton's Birthday haircut :)

:lmao: I know just what you mean! Paxton still talks about Disney World, "his" Castle, meeting the characters, riding the rides, etc. all the time, and it makes me SO SAD that we are missing it this year! But we are going to Italy, so then I feel bad for complaining about not going to Disney World. :rotfl:

I absolutely wish they had done more with Tangled than just a restroom area, but if that's all we are going to get, I will just enjoy the heck out of what it is! It's so pretty!!

I cant wait to go ride little mermaid again. We rode the day of the grand opening and had a great time, but definitely didn't take enough time to soak it in. Your parade pictures are great!! The colors are awesome. Some of my favorite I have seen.

I know there was a big thing about her hair in one of the scenes in the DCA version where it was swirled on top of her head like ice cream, and they left that out of the WDW version. :rotfl:

Totally understand on the Tangled bathrooms and wanting to see it in person first!! I will say though, photos do NOT do it justice. :goodvibes

The meet with Wendy was wonderful, and he really seemed to love it.

Thanks. :goodvibes The colors of that parade are always so vibrant, and DH did a great job editing to make them stand out. :thumbsup2

I just LOVED Eric's castle area too!! -the queue is definitely one of Disney's finest! All of those details.... so amazing and well thought out. Of course, Ariel is a favorite in our house.... so we all loved the ride as well!

Aww, what a fabulous meet with Wendy!! So sweet! I bet you're glad that you didn't leave the line.

Can't wait to hear about Paxton's Birthday haircut :)

I have never really liked many of the "old school" Disney princesses except for Ariel and Belle, so finally getting a Little Mermaid attraction is definitely a plus for me!!

I really don't understand how ANYONE can not love IASW!! :confused3:rotfl2: It's actually kind of amusing the ferocity with which my dad professes his dislike of this ride, yet we can ALWAYS get him to ride it with us at least once. :rotfl: Especially now that Paxton is there to say he wants to ride with his Poppi. That gets him every time. ;)

They packed in so many details from the movie in that one little bathroom area! Now imagine what they could have done with a Tangled attraction... But still, it's a very photogenic area.

We were definitely glad we didn't leave. Wendy was amazing!! One of the best meets of the trip, for sure.

Day 3 Continued: Thursday October 24th

After parting ways with MEK, we headed over to the Harmony Barber Shop to check in for DS's appointment. We got his very first haircut done here in 2011, then decided to have him get it cut again on our trip in 2012. We were planning to skip it this year because we had gotten his hair cut at some point before the trip when it had just gotten too long to put it off any longer and thought he wouldn't possibly need one again during our trip. But in the last few weeks before we left, it was starting to get a little shaggy so we just let it keep growing and booked an appointment. I'm so glad we did, because this has been a fun tradition to keep up!

My attempt at getting a pre-haircut photo in front of the barber shop...

I checked in at the register, and then asked the CM if they could do me a really big favor! You see, months ago I had been working on my scrapbook from DS's first trip, and when I went to put in the certificate from his first haircut, it was NOWHERE to be found! I tore my house apart, and never could find it. I was actually in tears! So I decided to ask when I got there if they would be able to fill out another certificate for me since I knew the date he had gotten the cut done. They asked if I remembered the CM's name who did the cut, and it was Norma, who happened to be working that day! They were more than happy to fill out the certificate for me, and Norma was even able to sign it, just like she did on the original! I was ecstatic! (But imagine my surprise when we were decorating out for Christmas and DH pulled out the Mickey Mouse cookies & milk set for Santa and said, "OH MY GOD!" I thought something was broken, but nope, the original certificate was in the box! Why on earth it was there and how we didn't notice it LAST Christmas is beyond me, but now he has 2 certificates from his first haircut!! lol).

There were 2 people in the chairs and one other person waiting ahead of us, but it was still only a few minutes before they called DS to a chair. The CM immediately got him set up with both a Dusty and a Lightning McQueen spinning light up toy, so he was pretty much good to go after that. Everyone else in the group knew we were there for the haircut, and they all managed to make it there as he was getting settled. I added in a random PhotoPass shot my parents and sister must have taken on the way over, because I just think it's a good picture of them too.

Telling Barbara he is 3!

Then the cutting commenced! He gets a little whiny when it comes time to spray his hair because he is not a big fan of water in his face or on his head (just imagine how bath time goes around here!), but with the toys he was actually pretty good. No crying, but you can tell he is not thrilled!

Once he was all done, Barbara spun his chair around for him to see his new hair cut in the mirror. He happily proclaimed, "I did it!" which earned him his second round of applause for the day from everyone else inside the barber shop. lol

One more, close up!

As we all left the barber shop as a group, we were discussing what we wanted to do next. It was getting close to 2 pm, so our big breakfasts had worn off and we were starting to think it was time for food. We stopped for a moment to check out the Dapper Dans singing "Mr. Sandman" because I just can't walk right by when they are out and not stop for at least one song!

And another cute snowman friend

Since it was right there and Mitchell was starving, we all thought Casey's sounded good. But OMG as soon as we walked in (or tried to, I should say) it was PACKED! So we immediately walked out of there and quickly regrouped and settled on Cosmic Ray's. But hold on a minute! As we were walking up the street we heard, "Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to the Magic Kingdom, where dreams come true!" DS knows what that means...Dream Along With Mickey! DH and I wanted to stop to watch the show since we have never seen the whole thing beginning to end. We told everyone else they could go ahead, but they decided to stay with us and watch the show.

"Any dream is possible
Wishes do come true
You can reach the stars if you just believe
Share the magic in your heart
There's nothing you can't do
Oh anything is possible
So find the dream inside of you!

LOVE that show! The music is just so good! As I mentioned, it was our first time seeing it all start to finish live in person. We have listened to the show on my phone in the car hundreds of times at DS's insistence and even seen bits and pieces of it as we were wandering in the parks. But one of my goals for this trip was to actually see the whole thing, and we did! So glad we happened to be wandering by right as it started instead of trying to work it into our schedule one day.

DS was also super excited to see, as he put it, his Castle making fireworks at the end of the show! lol Once it was over, our hungry bellies couldn't be ignored any longer and we hoofed it over to Cosmic Ray's. It was still pretty crazy in there! I know DH and I split up because I wanted a burger and DH was getting a basket of chicken nuggets to split with DS since he wasn't super hungry himself. I think my mom went to get us all a table while my dad went to get their food, and she took DS with her. All I know is by the time I had my food, I was the last one to our table to eat. DS was happy with a few of DH's chicken nuggets and fries and the yogurt my mom gave him from her meal.

I am blanking on when and where we got it, but DH had gotten a blank birthday button from a CM handing them out, so while we were eating lunch, I wrote DS's name in. I used Lia's tip for keeping the writing for coming off, and later when we got back to Bonnet Creek, I got some tape from the front desk to cover the writing. But for now, I tried the button on him to see if he would wear it without pulling on it. No go!

He only wanted to play with it, so we ended up putting it on the sun cover of his stroller, same as last year.

After lunch, we headed over towards Storybook Circus to get some FP's for Dumbo. On the way, we stopped for a peek at the Mine Train progress!

With our Dumbo FP's in hand, we decided a nice scenic trip around the Magic Kingdom was order. And with the Fantasyland Station right there, what better way than to hop aboard the Walt Disney World Railroad?

UP NEXT: All aboard!

Paxton did great with his hair cut. I didn't see a single tear, maybe a little frown, but definitely no tears. And nothing like being a celebrity after getting a hair cut. How sweet that they filled out Paxton's certificate again! :thumbsup2

Nice pictures from the castle show.

And - divide and conquer - the best way to get a meal. It stinks that it was so crowded that day. Come to think of it the park was fairly crowded that day. We ate Tony's, so no wait.
