Brian Regan does this standup routine. In it, he refers to those people who always have to 'one up' everyone else with who they know, where they've been, what they've done. He says he'd love to be one of the men who walked on the moon, so he'd always be able to shut them up. ummmmm, I walked on the moon.

Who do you know like this? Not Brian Regan, but the guy who 'one up's everyone.

They get annoying. I know a couple of people like that. One is a woman in our walking group. After we walk, we hang out and have coffee and if someone tells a story, her story is ALWAYS worse. Likeif you say you were sick with a 102 fever, she was sick with a 104 fever, had to be admitted to the hospital...blah...blah...blah.

My husband has a friend whose wife is like that too. I don't know if she's aone upper so much as she is competitve. We both bought houses around the same time. I bought a new dining room light that cost $250. She suddenly decided she needed a new dining room light, and of course HAD TO buy one that cost $275. She actually said she saw one that she liked better than the one she bought, but it was only $200 and she felt she should spend more.

It's like the Penelope skit on SNL....those crack me up!!

yes a lady at the bus stop she drives us INSANE!! one day some how we got to talking about due dates and I said my first and last had the same due date but were born on different days.. well she knew 3 cousins born on the same day of course... my dd8 is hard to find pants that fit.... well her son is harder to find clothes for of course then she goes on and on and on about it.. she was going on for 3 days (no joke) about finding gym pants to fit him.. I just went out and bought spring clothes for 3 of the kids and spent in the 300$ range at the childrens place (sales and coupons!!) well she had to go out the next day and spend 327$ just on her son.. she gave me the exact amount.. I told her she was crazy. :) it happens every day!! one thing on another... me and another mom just shake our heads when we are walking home... I can't wait for school to start again... lol

Kristen Wig also does a hilarious skit like this on Saturday Night Live. Can't remember the name of it but there are several. Same idea, always one-ups people but she does it in such a hilarious way.

My SIL is like that. We can't have a conversation w/o her doing this or that bigger or better. She is also a walking medical catastrophe. She has had it ALL and unfortunately survived it too.:headache: Oh, and her children can walk on water.:thumbsup2 I have taken to limiting our conversations to none as of lately. I know there is something lacking in her life and for that I am sorry but I just don't want to engage with that anymore.

Way too many of those types here. "I stayed at Pop"... "Well I always stay at the Poly" :rotfl:

Oh, you just stayed at the Poly? I split a stay between the Poly and GF - both concierge floors, of course - and then decided to spend a few nights in the Castle. :snooty:
