I usually love a good snow, but this is really bad timing

Dunn is the 50% area (I'm 20 mins from Dunn) and it looks like Fayettteville is the 70% area.

What is with this driving south and finding snow?

That happened to us in 1989 (only, when we drove north from Florida to SC...the snow was declining).

I looked at another tv station in Fayetteville and they had a discussion and compared this storm to that one and it puts it into perspective for me for how serious this might be. We may just push on through if we are able to go at all.

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas despite the snow trouble.

OP--I hope it works out with your son.

Snow chains are mandatory when we drive to the Sierra/Nevada Mtns - which is the resort area of Lake Tahoe.

OP - don't panic yet. Hopefully, your DS won't be "stuck" at his Dad's.

THanks, I know the "stuck" part seems wrong to say, but for a teen, there's no place like home(when it holds all your electronics,LOL)

biggest snow 10 years ago, I think they were calling for 4-6 inches and we got 23! .

It's hard to predict amounts. Depends on how the storm tracks.

Back in 1967 Chicago got 26 inches of predicted snow flurries.

So true!! LOL..

Hope you can work something out if you end up having the predicted storm..:santa:

Oh, we'll figure something out. The mom of the other child says she will drive down there herself if the ex won't bring them back b/c of the snow. It is not looking as bad as it gets closer to Saturday.

On a lighter note, all the roads have been sprayed with brine since YESTERDAY, LOL. Now it looks like our area may get very little. What a waste of money. The DOT is as bad as people running to the store for bread and milk. I can't imagine how the stores will be tomorrow, between last minute shoppers and snow crazies out at the same time. I figure as long as I have peanut butter and bread, we could survive for a few days.

UPDATE: So, now it is looking like 2-4 inches here and where my ex lives, and the county that adjoins his is in the 4-6 inch area.http://www.wral.com/

I messaged my ex asking what he wants to do, but he has not responded. Now I am thinking I am just going to tell him he can come to my mom's(15 minutes away) to visit DS tomorrow and then get him next weekend instead. I am not going to leave him, knowing it could take days for the roads to be clear enough to drive. 4 inches of snow here might as well be 10. It would be pure torture for DS to be trapped inside a house with all those people, knowing his new electric guitar, amp and his Xbox are at home. Worse than that, the ex could decide to drive him home and have an accident. He had one last week when we had less than 1/2 an inch of snow and is driving a rental.
