I Told You Driving Was Bad For Your Health! *2/2* NEW TRIP REPORT LINK P102

Thought you already did?? :confused3 :rotfl2:

I am grateful that I got to spend time with him at the end. He is in a much better place now. Much better. I feel a sense of relief.

Please say a prayer for my mom. She seems OK now, but her life is going to be very empty soon and its going to be very difficult for her.
Mary Ellen, so very sorry to hear about your loss! Thoughts and prayers for you and your family, and especially for your Mom!

Horse shoe shell

Something seems to be missing? No...... not the horseshoe crab?? Maybe something in the background??? ;)

Aren't you proud of me for keeping the beach pics to a minimum?
Of course. But you DID get some really good ones!!! :yay:

Pool was still empty. I did go it. It was nice and warm. A little chilly when I got out, but oh so perfect going in!

So much fun playing volleyball in the pool! :thumbsup2

I am happy to report that Denny made it back to the villa without incident.
Great News! :woohoo:

I did not know that Pepsi was born in the Carolinas.
::yes::

You may be open, but I'm not sure I want to go in

Looks like they ascribe to the Pablo Picasso theory of decorating!!! :rotfl:

Who wouldn't want to go to a place with the name Kooky mooky?

:thumbsup2

Great pix of Beaufort and the brides !! Is it pronounced BEWford or BOWford ?????
BEW-fort (like in beautiful) in South Carolina.............BOW-fort in North Carolina. :)

Mary Ellen - I am so sorry about the loss of your dad.

Thanks Rebecca. My dad's health has been declining for several years and his quality of life was not good. I am happy that my boys got to have a good visit with him and I was able to be there.

And as always your pictures are wonderful. I do love the empty beach chair pictures, post as many as you want. I am imagining myself sitting in one. Ahhh, so peaceful.

I look at those empty beach chairs and just want to jump right in one. :rotfl: Well, perhaps not JUMP, but you know. :rotfl2:

Also, the bride pictures are terrific. You would be an awesome paparazzi! I vote for bride #2. Especially her hair - so pretty.

Bride # 2 seems to be the clear favorite. Her hair is really pretty. Her skin is flawless. I couldn't believe my good fortune finding all those brides.

Take care.

Rebecca

Thanks!

Mary Ellen, please accept my condolences, I'm so, so sorry for the loss of your father.
I think we'd all understand if you didn't want to be on here for a bit.

Thanks so much Camille. I actually find the DIS to be a bit of a distraction and I appreciate the kindness of everyone here. :goodvibes

I will be praying for you and your family, especially your mom, bless y'alls hearts.

Please, let us know if you need anything.

Thank you! It's going to be tough for my mom for a long. Right now she is distracted with all the arrangements, but its going to be tough.

 I am so very sorry for your family's loss my friend. Sending good vibes and healing prayers. :goodvibes Hospice is an amazing service.

How is your mother doing?

Thank you Pat! I agree that Hospice does provide a much needed service and I am so relieved that we could get them involved at the end. If it had been up to me they would have been involved much sooner.

My mom is doing well right now, but its going to be tough for her once all these distractions are over.

I apologize for not replying to your update sooner, have had a busy few weeks. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. After the incident at HHI and switching to a new job and now the passing of your father, I am sure you are ready for 2013 to be over. :sad2: My thoughts and prayers go out to your family right now, especially your mother.

Thank you Alicia. I really appreciate that. I will admit that the stress of a new job and my dad has been a bit of a double whammy. I was definitely feeling some anxiety yesterday and it didn't feel great, that's for sure.

Your photographs are gorgeous, as always. Your beach shots make the place look so peaceful. :goodvibes With tourist season in full force at my beaches, I am envious of that serenity. :rotfl:

I am curious what that beach looks like during the summer. It certainly was serene in April. It is a stark contrast to what the Delaware beaches look like too. About as opposite as possible.

Wow, 3 brides in one afternoon/evening. Must've been a great day for a wedding. Based on your pictures, it looks like they had plenty of beautiful places to hold the event.

Can you believe that? I really hit bride pay dirt. It was pretty cool, actually. I suspect that spring must be a huge time for a wedding and Beaufort must be a bit of a destination for that type of event. I have no idea where all the receptions where since I never saw a lot of people other than the bride and their immediate entourage.

So sorry for your loss !!Hospice is a wonderful organization, they took care of my dear mother in law in her final weeks !! They gave such an accurate description of the final days , that her death was well anticipated and even though we did not know exactly which day we knew it was coming soon !!

Thank you Rosie. They really are a wonderful organization and, you're right, they do give a very good description of what to expect. I fell very fortunate that my mom finally agreed to them during my dad's final day. I wish it had been sooner.

Great pix of Beaufort and the brides !! Is it pronounced BEWford or BOWford ?????

I loved seeing all those pretty brides. It's BEWford.

I have to chuckle to myself because when Denny and I go to Norfolk, VA we always say NorFOLK, but the locals pronounce it nor(insert F expletive here but say it fast). I hope that doesn't get censored because that's the only way I can think of to pronounce it.

Aw man i'm so sorry for you loss, Mary Ellen. :goodvibes I'll be praying for both you and your mom for comfort. I hope your mom will keep herself busy with different hobbies. I'd imagine it'd be so difficult from being busy 24 hours a day, to having not much to do.

Thank you so much. You are absolutely right. My mom is really busy right now, so it is a distraction and the funeral is tomorrow. Once that is over its going to be tough for her.

Beautiful beach chair pictures! I think you'd definitely make for a good pap! :thumbsup2

I love those beach chairs too. I wish I was in one right now.

Being a paparazzi would be fun - at least for one day. :rotfl2:

Thought you already did?? :confused3 :rotfl2:

Yeah - but that was a long time ago. :rotfl2:

Mary Ellen, so very sorry to hear about your loss! Thoughts and prayers for you and your family, and especially for your Mom!

Thank you. I really appreciate your condolences. It's going to be rough for my mom for a long time.

Something seems to be missing? No...... not the horseshoe crab?? Maybe something in the background??? ;)

That darn horseshoe crab. I guess he must be camera shy. :faint:

Of course. But you DID get some really good ones!!! :yay:

Thanks! It's so much fun to take pictures along the beach and its even better if you can capture a little bit of its essence.

So much fun playing volleyball in the pool! :thumbsup2

I bet that pool is PACKED in the summer time. There are probably a lot of guests who end up with an expected pop in the head from an errant volleyball.

Great News! :woohoo:

That was good news, actually!

Like I always say - you learn something new every day.

Looks like they ascribe to the Pablo Picasso theory of decorating!!! :rotfl:

:rotfl: I'd have to agree with that.

I really considered ducking in there for some ice cream, but after a week of eating I decided against it.

BEW-fort (like in beautiful) in South Carolina.............BOW-fort in North Carolina. :)

I didn't know there was a BOW-fort in NC. Or maybe I did. :confused3

I usually lurk just wanted to give my sympathies on your loss. I have really been enjoying the TR.

:welcome: tazdev! I am so glad I decided to read back through my TR. I completely missed this post. I just want to thank you so much for joining in. I also appreciate your condolences. Thank you so much!

I'm very saddened to hear about your father's passing. Prayers for your family.

Beaufort looks like a nice little town. I'm glad you and Denny were able to enjoy the atmosphere and the walk. Even if you ended up stalking brides the whole time.

So sorry to hear about your dad, Mary Ellen. It's so hard to watch loved ones decline like that.

Your beach pictures are beautiful. I love that one you took looking down the long row of beach chairs!

Love all of the wedding stalking going on in these updates. :rotfl: That second bride, everything was so pretty! Her hair, dress, flowers...minus the beer in hand, but hey, weddings are stressful. :lmao:

Is it just me or does this paddle boarding look to be boring and a lot of work?
I don't know about boring, but definitely looks like a lot of work. :lmao:

Sand dollars
Looks more like half dollars.

My weak attempt at a self-portrait
Yeah... I don't think that's how you're supposed to do it. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

They do horse and carriage rides, but try as C might, they were already done for the day and no amount of persuasion would get them to agree to take us out.
You're better off. At least when you walk, it smells better.

Bride #2 was heading in for a drink
Not sure what to think about a bride drinking PBR on her wedding day... :confused3 :lmao:

First and foremost, I am sorry for your loss but, as you said, you know that your dad is in a much better place and is no longer suffering. I pray that your mother handles the loss well and will adjust to a life without her dearest.

Second, gorgeous paparazzi pictures. I mean, pictures. :lmao: Three brides in the span of one day. Gosh! The place must be THE place for weddings.

I'm just getting caught up Mary Ellen, I'm so sorry to read about your Dad. My sympathies to you and your family.

Hi Everyone! I wanted to update earlier this week but my dad, who has been ill for several years, started declining in health about a week or so ago.

My mom is my dad's caretaker. She was very reluctant to involve hospice and its been a struggle to convince her it's OK.

I spent part of last weekend there and I was planning on returning tonight but he started his final decline yesterday. So I went last night and we were able to transition him to hospice just in the nick of time. I'm so grateful for that.

I am grateful that I got to spend time with him at the end. He is in a much better place now. Much better. I feel a sense of relief.

Please say a prayer for my mom. She seems OK now, but her life is going to be very empty soon and its going to be very difficult for her.

Thanks.

Sorry it's taken me so long to post, more that I wanted to say than I could from my phone! I am so sorry for your loss and will definitely be lifting your mom up, and you too as you help her through this change. I am glad he is at peace and you had time with him at the end.

Is it just me or does this paddle boarding look to be boring and a lot of work?

Not just you, Jeff and I feel the same. Haven't tried it mind you (and won't, would NOT be good with the tennis elbow) but it looks like work. And boring.

My obsession with beach chairs continues

IMG_1389_zpsbb00b8de.jpg

And a fine obsession it is, some of my favorite pictures!

Too many others to comment on but I did want to say that Bride #2 wins best dress and hair...but totally ruined it with the pabst blue ribbon bottle! At least she could have poured it into a pretty pilsner glass!

What day of the week was it? I cannot believe how many brides you saw!

Luther's looked like fun.

So sorry for your loss Mary Ellen. Good that you were with him and your Mom. No matter what age we are, a father and daughter relationship is something to be cherished and remembered with fondness. My condolences.

Nora

MaryEllen, again, as stated on FB, I am sorry for your loss. It is so hard to see our parents slip away. I can't believe it's five years for my dad. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Wonderful update. In my opinion, you can never have too many beach pictures or beach chair pictures.

Lucky you spotting and capturing two brides/weddings. You would make a great papparazzi photographer.

I'm very saddened to hear about your father's passing. Prayers for your family.

Thanks Mark! I really appreciate your condolences.

Beaufort looks like a nice little town. I'm glad you and Denny were able to enjoy the atmosphere and the walk. Even if you ended up stalking brides the whole time.

The bride stalking was not planned, just an added bonus. I figure everyone loves a Disney bride, why not a Beaufort bride?

So sorry to hear about your dad, Mary Ellen. It's so hard to watch loved ones decline like that.

It was hard to watch him, although he had a good quality of life until close to the end. For the last 6 weeks or so he was completely non-ambulatory. Now he is running all over heaven.

Your beach pictures are beautiful. I love that one you took looking down the long row of beach chairs!

Thank you. That's seems to be a favorite! The beach was just so perfect that morning.

Love all of the wedding stalking going on in these updates. :rotfl: That second bride, everything was so pretty! Her hair, dress, flowers...minus the beer in hand, but hey, weddings are stressful. :lmao:

:rotfl2: Yes - good point - weddings are stressful. At least I didn't get a picture of her with the cigarette in her hand. That really ruined the illusion for me, but she was so pretty I will forgive her.

I don't know about boring, but definitely looks like a lot of work. :lmao:

Yeah - that too! You're not kidding! :faint:

Looks more like half dollars.

Good point!

Yeah... I don't think that's how you're supposed to do it. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Really? You can't take a self portrait in your visor mirror? Who knew? :confused3

You're better off. At least when you walk, it smells better.

OMG - that horse poop stunk SO bad. C was just chatting up a storm and I was close to gagging. :crazy2:

Not sure what to think about a bride drinking PBR on her wedding day... :confused3 :lmao:

Yeah - that wouldn't be my first beer of choice, but who knows - maybe someone handed it to her and said "congratulations". Hey - it could happen. :rotfl:

First and foremost, I am sorry for your loss but, as you said, you know that your dad is in a much better place and is no longer suffering. I pray that your mother handles the loss well and will adjust to a life without her dearest.

Thanks Lisa! I do appreciate that special intention in your prayers because that's what I am really hoping for. My dad's suffering is over, but my mom's will continue.

Second, gorgeous paparazzi pictures. I mean, pictures. :lmao: Three brides in the span of one day. Gosh! The place must be THE place for weddings.

That was definitely Wedding Saturday. I wonder if all the spring Saturdays are like that? I guess its a great place to be a wedding planner. :thumbsup2

I'm just getting caught up Mary Ellen, I'm so sorry to read about your Dad. My sympathies to you and your family.

Thanks Glenn. I really appreciate your condolences. No worries about getting caught up. I hope to start the WDW portion of this TR soon. :thumbsup2

Sorry it's taken me so long to post, more that I wanted to say than I could from my phone! I am so sorry for your loss and will definitely be lifting your mom up, and you too as you help her through this change. I am glad he is at peace and you had time with him at the end.

Thank you Cynthia. It's been a long road for my mom but I am very relieved my dads suffering is over. I can only assume he was uncomfortable at the end. I know he is resting peacefully now.

Not just you, Jeff and I feel the same. Haven't tried it mind you (and won't, would NOT be good with the tennis elbow) but it looks like work. And boring.

With tennis elbow is doesn't just sound boring, it sounds like torture. I much rather be in a kayak than on a paddle board. Especially since in a kayak you can sit on your "you know what".

And a fine obsession it is, some of my favorite pictures!

Thanks. Those beach chairs pictures seem to be pretty popular. So glad I took them.

Too many others to comment on but I did want to say that Bride #2 wins best dress and hair...but totally ruined it with the pabst blue ribbon bottle! At least she could have poured it into a pretty pilsner glass!

I agree that Bride #2 wins best bride sans the bottled beer. I agree - what's wrong with a glass? :confused3 At least you missed seeing her holding a cigarette. Yuck.

What day of the week was it? I cannot believe how many brides you saw!

It was Saturday. But since I was on vacation I really had to think about what day of the week it was and then was like "doh".

Luther's looked like fun.

It was a really cute bar and restaurant with a decent burger.

So sorry for your loss Mary Ellen. Good that you were with him and your Mom. No matter what age we are, a father and daughter relationship is something to be cherished and remembered with fondness. My condolences.

Nora

Thanks Nora. I completely agree. Well said. I was very happy I could be there with my mom.

MaryEllen, again, as stated on FB, I am sorry for your loss. It is so hard to see our parents slip away. I can't believe it's five years for my dad. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks Kathy. It is hard to see our parents age and decline in health. It's part of the circle of life.

Wonderful update. In my opinion, you can never have too many beach pictures or beach chair pictures.

Thanks. So glad you like all the pictures. There are a few more HHI pictures to come.

Lucky you spotting and capturing two brides/weddings. You would make a great papparazzi photographer.

Thanks. I love taking pictures. I would love to try my hand at taking pictures like that. What a challenge.

Mary Ellen the pronunciation that sounds X rated is Correct, I was born in Suffolk county which is bordered by Norfolk and both were pronounced the Xrated way. Also Norwich is pronounced Norridge:rotfl2:See alittle English pronunctiation lesson !!!:goodvibes

I truly love all the pictures you share. I know I said it before, but truly. It is like I get to go on this mini vacation from the comfort of my chair. So nice!

This picture just cracked me up?
IMG_1424_zpsf3d52321.jpg

The pools at HHI look a lot less themed than other disney pools. I am correct in thinking that, right? More of a bare bones pool?

Honestly, I think I would make an awesome paparazzi

:rotfl2:

However, I think you would too...cause some of those pictures of brides are too funny... candid.. and awesome.

Beaufort is just another place I am going to have to check out!

Ok this weird. I am reading from my phone and I noticed I forgot to respond to the first part of Cynthia's post. Thank you Cynthia. It's been a long road for my mom but I am very relieved my dads suffering is over. I can only assume he was uncomfortable at the end. I know he is resting peacefully now. I will cut and paste this later.

I am always so far behind, so it is nice to actually just be able to stop to check in and say Hi! :wave2: Hope the new job is still going well!!! :goodvibes

Mary Ellen, so sorry to hear about your Dad. Keeping you and your family in my prayers. Tiffany

Rosie - I'm glad to hear I have the pronunciation correct. Denny and I were cracking up the last time we where there as we were watching the morning news. We looked at each other and said, "Did he just say what we THOUGHT he said?" :rotfl2:

I truly love all the pictures you share. I know I said it before, but truly. It is like I get to go on this mini vacation from the comfort of my chair. So nice!

I am so glad you have enjoyed this portion of the TR and my photo tour of the low country. I enjoy going back myself and looking at the pictures.

This picture just cracked me up?
IMG_1424_zpsf3d52321.jpg

I love that old car. That's definitely a blast from my past.

The pools at HHI look a lot less themed than other disney pools. I am correct in thinking that, right? More of a bare bones pool?

The beach house pool is rather simple, but who cares since it is just steps from the beach. The rest of the beach house is so inviting that you really don't notice the simplicity of the pool.

:rotfl2:

However, I think you would too...cause some of those pictures of brides are too funny... candid.. and awesome.

I definitely tried to conceal what I was doing, but I know they still noticed me. :rotfl2: Hey - I don't care - its a tourist town and people have cameras.

Beaufort is just another place I am going to have to check out!

If you ever get to HHI definitely make sure you visit all the other cute low country towns. It's such a unique area and there is so much to see.

I am always so far behind, so it is nice to actually just be able to stop to check in and say Hi! :wave2: Hope the new job is still going well!!! :goodvibes

Thanks for stopping by. I am adjusting to the new job, so overall its going well. Tonight is the first night I have to stay all night. I'm nervous about that, but its part of the job. One night at a time!

Mary Ellen, so sorry to hear about your Dad. Keeping you and your family in my prayers. Tiffany

:welcome: Tiffany and thank you so much for stopping by to offer your condolences. I really appreciate it!
