What's going on? I read over and over that Disney was seperating kids and adult credits. Are they currently seperating TS and not CS? Why would they do that????:confused3

I just know from my past experience from when we went in May. You use your room key to "pay" for your DDP meals. At the end of the meal, you give it to the CM and they deduct the credits from your total. It gives you a total of the amount of credits you have for the rest of the trip. They lump all the credits (adult and children) together. For example, we had 2 adults and 2 children staying for 7 nights. So we had a total of 28 TS meals, 28 CS meals, and 28 snacks. It did not say (at least not in November) 14 ADULT and 14 CHILDREN TS meals, etc.

However, written ON the room key, it says how many adults and how many childrens are on your meal plan. Our said 2A , 2C.

So, when you go to a TS meal, you can ONLY order 2 adults meals and 2 childrens meals at that seating. The CM knows you have only paid for 2 adults and 2 children, so they will only allow to order 2 adult meals and 2 childrens meals at that seating.

However, if you go to the counter service, it will only let me order 2 adults meals at that time (because of the 2A on my card). Meaning, I could got through the line and order 2 adults meals. Then, I could go through another line (or have my husband go) and order another 2 adult meals. There was no way for them to track how many adult or child meals for CS I got at all.

So, I guess, some people were abusing the system and getting adult counter service meals with their childrens meal credits. They will probably start seperating the adult and childrens credits on the receipt and keep track of adult and children credits seperatly.

BTW, all snack credits are the same for all people (adult or child), so far...

From our experience in February

It clearly states on TS checks adult and childrens credits remaining. This is different from last year in that all TS credits were pooled. In addition, the CMs will state to you that you can't use kids credits for an adult meal.

Now, this does not appear to apply if you have a 10 or 11 year old and are paying for them as an adult. With DD (10), we were able to do whatever we wanted - pay OOP for her for a kids meal or an appetizer if we thought the portions were going to be too large, share, or allow her to order off the adult menu. We found great flexibility in the plan as as result.

CS and Snacks do not appear to be pooled, but as it has been said on this forum, this can change at any time. Again, we did not run into this because we paid for DD as an adult.

I've used the dining plan before and understand how it works. My question is really Why did disney go ahead and differentiate between adult and child at TS and not at CS ? ( wouldn't it make since to do this all at once?)

They probably will at some point, but for now, the more blatant misuse of the Disney Dining Plan was people purchasing the child plan (sometimes even without actual children on the trip) and using those credits - which cost $10.99 per night - to purchase adult meals.
Since every participating table service restaurant offers kids' meals, while NOT all counter service restaurants do, it makes more sense for Disney to focus on the TS abuse first.

I would never have thought of that! Wow, people must really enjoy coming up with ways to "tweak" the plan.
