I think we're over the values...

That is weird, maybe it's the certain hotel? I check through all of them. My Fiance also has a Hilton membership thing so he gets a slightly discounted rate. But at a quick glance for my trip I'm trying to plan all the rooms are about $50 cheaper, with all the hotel fees.

Looking at Feb dates I need, these are the Hilton-brand rates (and I've got Hhonors, so...) for the ones designated Disney Springs Area (without the resort fees which get added on)...

Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs - $246/night
Hilton Orlando Buena Vista Palace Disney Springs - $240/night
Doubletree by Hilton Orlando Disney Springs - $232/night
Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek - $267/night
Waldorf Astoria Orlando - $316

Yes, the Hampton Inn Orlando/Lake Buena Vista Area is $162/night, BUT that is still more than a Value on property AND that one is not close enough to walk.

Even for my September trip, the only one that is "cheaper" is the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista Disney Springs. On the surface it is a whopping $3 less per night...but the resort fee wipes that out.

Yeah we did one night at Pop for an arrival night and learned it’s one and done for us. WDW is busy and crazy as it is without fighting crowds at the resort as well.

I tend to think it comes down to whether the resort is a big part of your vacation or not. If you enjoy the pool, restaurant, midday breaks, etc then a moderate or deluxe would be worth it. If you are out at the parks, dining, enjoying Disney Springs and at the room only to sleep then a Value is a better deal.

For us its the latter. We're up early and head to a park. We'll then head to another resort or park for dinner and end the night at that park before getting back to the room late. Doesn't make sense to spend the extra money on a fancier hotel.

The full size beds have always kept the value resorts off the resort lists. My husband is a tall man and his feet hang off the end of a full size mattress.
We like deluxe and I don't mind staying in a moderate.

Values are values for a reason, and priced accordingly. Practically every day there is a new post about someone who habitually stays DVC or Deluxe who wants to know if "slumming" it in a value will affect their trip. Only you can know what will affect you or bother you as well as deciding what you absolutely need from your resort. If values don't check enough of your required boxes, then move along and see if the moderates are enough of a compromise. Of course there is going to be a markup at all resort levels, you're paying for the privilege of being on Disney property. If values are an overpriced Motel 6, then perhaps moderates are overpriced hilton garden inn, and so on and so forth. If you can afford 7 nights at a value but hate the thought of staying in a Disney-fied Motel 6 and not being catered to, then look offsite and outside of the bubble, or decrease your nights and bump it up to moderate for 4 nights or deluxe for 2 nights.

The Values are being renovated with Queen beds. Pop I believe is nearly complete as are some of the All Stars.

I have stayed at all levels. I’ve done club level at the Poly and stayed in a room at one of the All Stars. I pick whatever resort strikes my fancy at the time. Lately, I have not stayed in any Deluxes, though, because the prices are ridiculous. I can afford it just fine, but I refuse to pay $400+ for a standard room that would be mediocre anywhere else.

I’d sooner take that money and spend it on dining, experiences, or alternatives to the bus transportation. YMMV.

We tried the Allstars and definitely disliked that stay. We've also stayed at Pop and while it's not a favorite it was fine.

The deluxes are too expensive so it's normally the moderates or off-site for us. As for Disney Springs, I often find good deals there but the Hilton hotels do tend to be more pricey from what I've seen.

Anyone who equates the values to a motel 6 must have some really nice motel 6's in their area!! I've not been to a motel 6 with an indoor lobby, food court, arcade, concierge, pool bar etc.

Not to mention free transportation to WDW theme parks and the airport if you want it.

I've never disliked the rooms at the values - it's really been the tour groups that have been a problem for me.

I think they're referring to the room which is very similar to a motel 6.
