I think we're over the values...

It's like the lyrics of one of my favorite songs...

"If I hadn't seen such riches, I could live with being poor..."

lol

The values during summer are heavily used for tournament season, whether this be baseball, soccer, drill, dance etc... and they sell out fast! As its a 'stay and play' tournament, players have to go through their travel agents and almost all choose the value for its 'value'. It makes sense when taking so many kids, I always try to advise people to check on the Disney sports website for tournaments when they are going to stay, because it makes a big difference. I take teams there fairly often, only the older kids so its a little different, but I understand how it can be difficult.

We have not been to a value in awhile (last stay about 4 years ago), but mainly because of them having full size beds. When we did go we still had great vacations and memories. We actually found the values and Mods better with a stroller then the deluxe rooms. I never had any issue rolling in our sit-n-stand into a value room (never had the door hit the bed) and I liked that I could park it right as we walked in by the head of the bed. With deluxes, we have to roll it all the way into the room since there is no room in the "foyer" area unless we folded it up:( As for beds, I have not found any consistancy, good or bad, at any of the 3 levels of resorts, constantly doing the "Goldie locks and the 3 bears", to hard, to soft...

We've been over values after our stay at POP (hated the resort). Since then, we have stayed at ASMu for 3 nights and for me to go back to a value (would be ASMo only) it would need to be less than 3 nights and super cheap. Even DH who is more frugal than me for hotels agreed that we are now a moderate family. lol.

I couldn't even get the stroller in the door because the door hit the bed and that was before they put bigger beds in the rooms. I shudder to think what it is like in there now, with both beds down. I guess if you only need/use 1 bed then it's fine.

Hmmm...that's interesting. We've stayed at all the values over the years, with the exception of AoA. Never have any of our doors hit the bed when we opened it. LOL. Don't get me wrong, we are not fans of the value resorts either, unless it's to save some $ or if we just need a place to sleep on arrival night, but I've never had a value room that small.

I've parked my scooter in the room and still had room to walk around the bed to the door.

Now, I wouldn't call the rooms large. But it was plenty big enough for my vacation in September. My friend and I went for a 6 day trip and really enjoyed our stay.

We stayed at All Star Movies and even though we've stayed there before, I don't think we'll go back again.

I pick my resort based on my mood for whatever trip it's going to be. Pop a few weeks ago; loved the beds (sooo comfortable), loved the new rooms. Yes, what the OP said about the large groups is indeed one reason to avoid values if you go during the time of year they will be all over the place. I swore off All-Stars across the board before the renovations, but would give them another chance if I could find a time of year there were no large groups (me and my friend were almost left behind when DME did a pick up for the airport because the bus was crammed full with a group that was staying there and the group was extremely loud, rude, and oblivious).

The values seem to have more energy going for them, so it all depends on what a person is looking for. Port Orleans (either one) is my go to moderates when I want a slower, quieter vacation... and of course the deluxes when you want to be closer to the action. Everyone has their own tastes and preferences and that's a good thing.

For us it depends on what mood we are wanting to set for the trip. We have stayed at all levels and liked different things about each of them.

Last trip was Grand Floridian for a relaxing family vacation.
The time before that was with my sister who loves the Disney classics so we stayed at AoA.
This year will be a quick busy trip so staying at Pop!

It's crazy how everyone has different views of the same resorts.

I love POP. It's nostalgic for me because we stayed there many times in the mid 2000s when I was a teenager.
I love the deluxes, staying at Grand Floridian in November.

Mods? I don't like.

To each their own! :)

Disney definitely has a resort for everyone. We fell in love with Coronado Springs - I just need to always stay there, I think. But we are trying the Boardwalk next month - we'll see!

Volunteering as a team coach, I got to stay at Pop Century last summer and All-Star Sports this summer. The rates were heavily discounted due to the tournament, but the experience was really not as bad as I thought it would be. I thought that bus service would be a zoo, but was still quite efficient and well-managed during peak hours. The cast members were all really pleasant and went out of their way to ensure satisfaction.

Pop Century was noticeably nicer, with a better food court, although it looks like All-Star Sports is getting its own renovation. I don't particularly like the exterior corridors or the very long walk to certain rooms, but that's also an issue with the moderates. The theming isn't really to my taste, but if it's a vacation where I don't plan to spend much time at my resort, I can live with it.

If there's one thing that might bother people about the values, it's the sense of chaos caused by so many people everywhere. They kept the tournament groups in our own section of the resort, so as not to bother everyone else, but the sheer size of these hotels makes them feel crowded in general... like we were swallowed up once we got back into the common areas. I can definitely see why some people would choose to spend more for a little bit greater tranquility during their vacation.

I can imagine a point in my life where I won't be able to stand the values anymore.

The last time I stayed at a value was in 2001. Even though the crowds were smaller back then, I just felt we were in a holiday inn. I would rather take only 1 vacation a year and splurge on a nice resort. This year will be our first CL stay and I really hope it's worth the extra money.

We're planning a December trip and were considering ASMo...rethinking that..:worried:

We would stay in a value for a night or two, but not for an entire trip. Stayed at Pop for a few nights last August in a room that was very small for one adult and 10 and 12 year olds. Our door definitely hit the bed when we first tried to get our luggage in (we did a rather amusing looking single file thing where we twisted our bags through the door to fit them in...two kid sized bags and one average sized adult one). We were very tight without a ton of luggage (and no stroller etc.).

My oldest liked the ‘cozy’ room but disliked the decor around the resort. My youngest hated being cramped, thought the pool was ok (he’s a slide guy) and thought the common areas were loud and chaotic. We are also not rope drop to close park commandos, like hanging out at our resort, and we all missed the additional dining options found at mods/deluxes.

So we’d stay at a value again for a bit, but it would be just an inexpensive option for a room before moving to our main resort.

Yep, Values aren't for us (to my son's disappointment). We did a two night stay, arriving at 9pm the first night and my husband told me that next time, he'll just work overtime to cover our difference.

Honestly the room size wasn't great but manageable. The beds were what was awful.

Everyone has their own preference. Personally, we had always stayed at moderates and one time deluxe at AKL and was very afraid to try values. POFQ is absolutely amazing. One summer we tried values because of the price difference and well, we will never go back to moderates or the deluxe. We stay at ASMo. The room was 'adequate' before the renovations~ but we stayed in May and got a refurbished room and the changes honestly make it comparable to POFQ. There is a slight size difference in rooms~ but honestly not enough of a difference to us to make a difference. The renovations added shelving everywhere that really helps, new plug ins that were needed, new mattresses were so comfy~ just overall very nice. We are park people~ at the parks from opening till fireworks~ so for my family~ we just need a nice place to sleep in. ASMo more than fills our need for that! The food court has a great variety of choices~ good sit down options as well as a great grab and go section. We didn't use it~ but the pool looks great too. We stayed in the Toy Story section~ one of the preferred room sections~ short walk to everything. Bus service was perfect the entire week and was our previous stay there too. The gift shop has great merchandise for souvenirs as well as necessities you may need~ milk, first aid stuff, etc etc. Noise has not been an issue for our family yet at ASMo~ hopefully it will stay that way.
I can see if a family spends a good bit of time at the resort that the rooms might be cramped~ but for our family who spends most of our time in the parks~ ASMo is wonderful!

Everyone has different preferences~ choose what is best for your family. :)

As someone who had no problem staying at ASSp over and over for annual trips, it’s incredible how quickly the Values can be “ruined” for you once you get a taste of what else Disney has to offer. Last month I did a long weekend at POR (which was a bit of a splurge for me) and, while I wouldn’t say I’m “over” the Values, it’ll be a little hard to go back to them on my next trip. Next up is a week at Pop so maybe that’ll soften the blow with the refurbishments (not to mention I’ve requested a king bed which will be a nice change).

On the flip side, my mom and sister were heading to one of the All Stars for a few days a couple months ago when they got a call offering an upgrade to Saratoga Springs! They took it and got pretty spoiled by it. Their next trips in October (2/3 nights each going separately) are now at BW and YC. Not sure if there’s any going back for them now. :confused3

We stay value, moderate, and deluxe and enjoy them all. We had a great stay at POP in February and staying at the Poly next month. After that I am eyeing AS Movies or Caribbean Beach.

I’ve been a 2+ trips per year solo traveler since 2015 and Pop will always hold a soft spot in my heart because it was my first Resort. I enjoyed 4 stays there before trying a 3 Resort split stay in May of ‘17. I loved BWI (the surprise upgrade to Deluxe Club Level for 7 nights certainly didn’t hurt), hated CSR, and found my new home at POFQ. Since then, I tried POR, did a long weekend back at Pop, and spent more time at my new love FQ. I currently have a BWI/FQ split stay booked (18 days to go!), plus a post Thanksgiving stay at FQ. But honestly, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Pop again. FQ has the edge because of the theming, the covered bus stop, and the boat to DS. But I also loved every moment at Pop. And I’d easily book it over the multi bus stops of CSR and CBR.

I love Movies and Music. We just had a five day trip in June for just me and one of my kids while my other one went on a special trip with her aunt.

We also love the Poly and are staying there again next month.

We decided Yacht and Beach isn't for us although we love the look of the lake at night and the closeness to Epcot.

Really liked Caribbean Beach also when we stayed in the Pirate Rooms years back.

I do understand not wanting to be around large groups that are loud. That ruined a visit for me many years ago.

Actually, last year at the Beach Club there was a family of six next on one side and a family of five on the other that kept us from getting decent sleep the whole stay. The families weren't trying to be disruptive but they both had babies and toddlers. I inquired about a different room but the only room they had (or offered had an interior view of the roof) so we decided it wasn't worth moving all our stuff.

I'm pretty much Poly first and the Movies/Music interchangeably.

It's great there are so many different places so people can find the perfect fit.
