I think we ate at every character meal.. TRIP REPORT w/pics! FINISHED!!!!!!!

Wow.... I will read yours as well. This wasn't my DD wish trip, that should be happening in a year or 2!!

Did you DD have a Nephrectomy?..... I'm sure I'll have some other questions for you. Glad she is doing well... My DD has been off treatment since August 07, port out September 07.

EDIT::::: We (DW & I) just read the first 2 pages of your report. Wow you guys have really been through a lot. DW was crying her eyes out reading it.

Tomorrow April 2 is the second anniversary of Juliana's surgery...... reading your story brought back some memories
(bad & good)

Happy Anniversary! :goodvibes Feels good now to celebrate AFTER!

DD had partial nephrectomy. Dr. L was able to save both kidneys. She was quite blessed. Emy was OT as of last April. She's one year OT as of this month! :) Scan-xiety is coming up though (4/15). Feel free to PM me and I'll give you my addy. Always nice to meet a new fam! I hope you apply for a wish for her. I can tell you it really was amazing!! :) I'd definitely call your chapter and double check. We waited for ours until after her last surgery (WIsh in July/ trip Jan).

If you look to the right in the pic with her raincoat, you can see the matching boots. Now she wants it to rain so we can take her out and play in it. Too bad its still cold here, we'll have to wait till it gets a little warmer.:goodvibes

Oh my gosh, I didn't even notice the boots! Now that's something I would've HAD to have when I was her age. :goodvibes I'm so tired of the cold here too! It's April, it should be getting warmer!

By the way, my B/F and I came home this weekend from college and I had to show my mom and sis the Mad Hatter video. They were laughing so hard! :)

What a wonderful trip. You're daughter is absolutely beautiful and is one strong young lady. Happy belated birthday, Juliana :thumbsup2

we did that in the summer-- of course it dont rain so we hooked up the hose to make itlook like rain-

That's funny! The things we do to keep the kids happy. LOL:lmao:

Juliana has scans on Monday 4/6. She is only having an ultrasound and X-ray this time. Then she has to go to the clinic for bloodwork and a checkup. She usually does good with the scans. 3 months ago she had her CAT scan. The doctor that sedated her the last 2 times wasn't there and a different doctor wanted to do a different sedation. It would knock her out for 2 hours for a 1 min scan. So Melody and I talked with Juliana and practiced laying still. We decided to try it without the sedation. She laid there so still for the scan. The techs couldn't believe that a 2 yr old was doing this! They were very impressed (and so were we!)

The worst is when we start applying the emla cream. Once she sees it she knows what is going to happen. Its a lot harder now thats shes older and more vocal. She gets really upset. :sad1:

It was so loud in there. There is so much background noise. But the Hatter is crazy!!! He's loud enough to overcome the noise!:goodvibes

Thank you for the kind words and thanks for reading!!!!!:goodvibes

Good luck on Monday. I'll be sending prayers and positive vibes to you all. I know the anxiety that leads up to these checkups.

I'm so proud of Juliana for cooperating so much! We had to practice xrays because Olivia HATED the "table". We worked it out by substituting the word "bed" and had her lie down on the kitchen table.

It IS so much harder as they get older and can object to these things. We bring along our own bandaids for after the emla cremes. Such brave kids, aren't they???

Well seems that Juliana had a wonderful birthday(s)...any 3 year old would love to have 2 birthdays in 1 day (heck, I would!! haha) She is a beautiful little girl, (and all the cakes were beautiful ;) )

Happy Belated Birthday Juliana!!
:bday:

Depending on who is doing the X-ray, sometimes they just have her stand for them. Other times she had to lay on the table.:confused3 I wonder if they get different angles when they do this?

We bring our own band-aids too. Juliana has very sensitive skin and the ones they use are really hard to get off. Plus they leave almost like a burn on her.

They are very brave. Maybe I'll sneak the camera in and get a few pics of Juliana and her 'friends'

Wishing Juliana lots of love and luck! :)

Thank you!

You guys got a lot in for one trip! That's for sure!

I have only read up to page 5 but am really enjoying your trip report so far! I have to start cleaning the house so I have to stop reading otherwise I will get nothing done LOL.

You have a beautiful family. I am so sorry your daughter had to go through so much. I am glad she is doing better now.

Ok, I finished the TR! What a great vacation! Thanks for sharing!

For those of you still reading.....

I don't know the correct PTR etiquette.

Do I need dates to start a PTR? Can I start one at any time?? I've been doing some research the last few days for 2 (YES 2) possible upcoming trips. I've been trying to read some to get the jist of it.:goodvibes:goodvibes

Now THAT's the way to wait for a phone call!!! :) Do you feel stalked? :lmao:

Sorry...you just keep coming up on all of my subscribed threads today. :confused3

There is no hard and fast rule. Sometimes I start a pre-trip report to ask the general DIS public what the best dates would be...

My friend and I are contemplating a Sept 2010 trip and may start a pre-trippie soon...

So...I say...go for it!!!! But be aware it can be hard to keep up with too many threads. :) and you end up stalking your DIS friends. :lmao:

I subscribe to about 40 threads... 12 of them are dead.. I just keep em in my box incase I need some info. I have all types of questions... I wonder if it is better to ask them in a certain section instead of a PTR. I might get a better response that way?:confused3

I think I have tentative dates too. LOL

Maybe someone can tell me when the DIS meetings are? 'HI. I'm Tim. I'm a DISaholic!' :rotfl:

I have 114 threads right now. About 6 are mine. I have no idea how many are active. I have subscribed to every Wish Trip pre-trip report (and TR, of course!). Some of my threads are very short lived flaming ones that are just down right entertaining. Some people just put out some strange questions...I think...to get a rise out of people. :sad2:

I am definitely an addict. And I just discovered there are MORE podcasts and websites out there besides the DIS. Go figure. More addicts. So, if you find a meeting, let me know. :lmao: But I probably won't come. I am sorta enjoying my addiction. It keeps me from being bored as I sit on hold with United Healthcare. ::yes::

Hi! I think that as long as you have possible ideas for upcoming trips, then you can start a PTR. :)
