i think my kitty is dying.

I hope little Phil is feeling better soon. Great advice and info from Dissers! Thanks everyone!:D

There is some great advice here.

I hope your kitty will be alright.

One of our cats developed a urinary infection and a bad blockage. He had to stay at the vet's office for several days and the vet was worried that he would die or at least suffer damage because the urinary backup was so bad. Sylvester drinks a lot of water so it happened quickly. He had a lot of trouble urinating for a while and continually felt like he had to for several days, I guess because of the irritation.

He's OK now but eats a lot of special urinary diet food to help keep him unblocked. He also drinks tons of water which I understand is real helpful in these cases.

I hope that your kitty is feeling much better now.

I credit this to be my "miracle"- when Sam came home from the vet (after 3 days and $500) he wasn't much better than when he left. The vet said that the chances were good that he would "re-block" in the next 2 weeks. Well, I couldn't afford another $500 stay so I got pro-active. I went on a homeopathic website for cats and started reading. They recommended Cantharis. It supposedly soothes the bladder and calms spasms of the urethra. It only cost $3.50 at my local pharmacy so I gave it a try. Well, he had been home a day and a half and was straining and moaning everytime he'd pee and only pee a very small amount. I folllowed the directions on the Cantharis vile-put the tiny pellets in his mouth every 15 mins for 1 hour and the results were dramatic. After the hour was up he peed a huge amount without any straining or moaning!! I was so happy I cried! He was fine from then on.

Hope the advice you get here calms you and will help Phil!

Keep us posted.

We also use 2 homeopathic remedies when our cat is blocking up. We use Apis for the immediate problem, and then Arnica for bladder irritation. If we catch it early enough, the Apis will sometimes help to him to pee :) I really try to give this right when I first see him either strain or spend too long in the litterbox after he potties (another sign of an impending blockage with my cat).

I'm so sorry to hear of your little fur guy's troubles.:( We've been in the same situation with 3 of our males over the years (and thousands of $$$):( Actually had a "sex change" done on one of our males and spent a fortune only to have him pass on 2 years later at the age of 9.

The disease is called FLUTD (feline urinary tract disease) and it's really annoying to your poor cat and the owners. Please read up on any and all information you can and above all water is the most important thing for your cat. Also we buy a special diet food that's PH controlled from our vets. We've had 2 bouts of this with our present little guy Willy and it's no fun for them....very sad to see them cry in pain....but don't wait too long to seek medical help as this can be fatal.

Good luck with your fur baby.:D

Andrea how is your kitty doing since his trip to the vets? I hope things have calmed down and your fur baby's feeling much better!:D

Good thoughts and prayers being said for your kitty. I hope he is better soon!
