I think my husband is ready to give me the "Me or Mickey" ultimatum

We just spent a long weekend at Fort Wilderness in our Travel Trailer. The nightly rate for the premium loop was $106 a night. When we first started camping at FW together, as FL residents and AP holders, we sometimes would get rates as low as $27/night. Every year we watched rates go up and up.

DH doesn't share my love of all things Disney, and camping at the Fort was a way for us to mix his love of the outdoors, with my love of the mouse.

As a hospice nurse, our every other month or so getaways keep me sane.

He's looking to cancel our June trip. :sad2:

He figures he's bringing the bed, bathroom, linens, etc, why should it cost $96/night for a parking space?

He also doesn't think we should spring for new Ap's when our current ones expire.:headache:

I have tried to talk him into a compromise of less short trips, but one really long one once a year. I don't think he's convinced.

Going without him isn't always feasible either. I've got 2 energetic boys, one of whom is autistic. It really is a two parent job.

Wow...$106 a night just for the space? ... I've never camped in my life and I'm amazed. You could get a hotel for the same price or cheaper. What comes with the $106? I assume electricity somehow...and it costs $106 to park and use electricity. Huh.

As to the DH, maybe give him a little time to think it over...he has to understand how much it means to you and your sanity. How many short trips do you take? Maybe you could talk him down to two or three of the short trips and no long trips. I'd rather do 2 or 3 shorts trips instead of one long trip once a year. Anyway maybe DH is just having a stamping his foot moment and will change his mind. Fingers crossed for you!

Maybe he just needs a break.

Perhaps you could go without him and leave him home with the two kids...
...that may bring him back to reality;) :rotfl2:

My boyfriend knows never to ask me that question, he won't like the answer!

Maybe go somewhere else for a year on the promise you will go back next year and show how expensive other vacations can be!

I just wanted to say have a great time, have fun and enjoy in your upcoming trip. Looking forward in hearing more from you.

Have a nice and safe trip coming. :)

Maybe go somewhere else for a year !

DW always says this to me, so we went to Cuba a few years back, and I enjoyed it, but whenever i think of going away, my first thought is always to WDW (or DLRP) :(

:goodvibes

Surely there are other campsites that aren't owned by the mouse that are cheaper but still lets your hubby be part of the great outdoors.

I also think that you both need to compromise, his vacation idea one year and yours another. That way you both don't need to find out what the answer to "that" question will be.

See what the local KOA costs. I seem to recall that there is an off property campground close to WDW.

Well I feel for you!
I am stubborn though and I would not let him not wanting to go stop me.
Having said that though being stubborn and not willing to comprimise doesn't always work out.
I think I would pick a time and sit with him and list all the pro & cons of
disney versas somewhere else.
Your sanity needs to be on the top of that list. pixiedust:

I informed my dh before we got married that he must take me to Disney every year or else...so far we have been married 9 years and 6 times. The years we missed were when our 1ds was to sick to travel.
Good luck

$106 is insane. I'd look for a nice campground off property. That's how my DH got to go to Disney when he was younger.
