I think that it would be fair to you all since some people have been asking why I am leaving and then doing all this stuff and blah blah... Read on.

The day I said I was quitting, well it wasn't really me quitting because I wanted to it was because I had to. My brother found viruses on the computer and it had beside it Disneys Virtual Magic Kingdom. People were just assuming that I wanted to quit because of my school marks. It wasn't because of that. Now that I was forced to quit just made me want to cry my heart out because you all are the best friends in the universe. It doesn't seem fair that I have to give up something that I spent all my time on like THAT. In some ways I am improving my marks because I got 20/20 on my table of contents work sheet. So there you have it. I mean I want to play but there is no way that I can get on.

do you run a firewall or a virus program on your computer..by that I mean is one running all the time in the background? Or are you running unprotected?


If he did indeed did find a virus on your computer what makes him think it was VMK that infected you?

Azzure thanks for you note. There are many on this board who run programs and create programs for computers. You should ask your brother exactly what it said. So many others can help solve your problem. Was it a virus or did it show up in spyware. There has to be more to this because just every day use of computers makes everyones computers vulnerable to virus's. I am pretty sure my Bill Gates gets his on share a them himself. I am glad you did well on your Table of Contents. Hopefully with all the different strengths on this board we can solve you problem. and you can print off the information and give it to your brother and parents.

Remember there is no mountain to tough to climb when you have friends to help give you a lift when you need it.

as a PC technician by trade, I can say there are no spyware or virues in VMK - however they are prevalent through the web, heck, I even found one from CNN.com

that is not a very safe bet Darkside any website on the WWW can be hit and can be a target of hackers that would like nothing better than to spread their lastest vile bug. That goes for spyware also.

possible? maybe, but feasible? no, because imagine the PR hit WDW would take from that, my bet is that the microsoft homepage would be nailed before vmk.

Yes, it is possible, but honestly, I work with Disney techs sometimes (I work for Hasbro and they are a major partner of ours) and they are among the best in the biz - the likelyhood that disney would suffer a major hack like that is so remote, I would suspect the Pentagon at first....

Most viruses and spyware comes not from the site you visit but from the ads they employ - a typical site will use a banner rotator from a usually reputable company, they contract with others to host their banners - now, if the company that has a banner is hacked, that banner will promugate the virus/spyware, it isnt the sites fault or the banner rotators fault at all. Happens to CNN all the time....

ok first this was an answer to alot of our questions and thank you azure and i hope you answer more of our queries. And no matter what happens you always have your friends here we are all here for you

second i am also in computers in fact i run three servers out of my home for private companies. all of which are heavily protected by virus scanning programs and firewalls but they still get through. and yes wdw would be hurt by bad pr but that does not mean that the incident was a local attack after all the ppl using cheats and hacks for the mini games dont know what those programs leave behind and since they hack into the vmk servers and change the way the game plays dont you think they can leave a virus behind and no one would know until it spread to maybe one or too pcs ???yes very remote i think it would be but virus programs can only act so fast they are not perfect you know.

the cheats used and the virus thing is WAY different, hacking the vmk coding would not release a virus, you would have to manually upload it into vmk, which is doubtful. my bet is that if theres even a sign of trouble vmk would shut the servers down and check it out way before it got into players PCs.

running 3 servers is commendible, but you do not have the kind of money to plunk down to protect your stuff as MS or Disney has, and the MS attack was an inside job, I know, I worked for them when it happened, the attack lasted all of 11 seconds

it is NOT POSSIBLE that you got a virus from VMK - didnt happen, wouldnt happen, couldnt happen, and if it did, we would all have known about it. He probably put the viruses on himself by surfing sites he is probably not old enough to surf. Those sites ALL have viruses.

lol..... honestly, he probably got them on the computer, some are as seemingly innocent as: your clocks time is messed up, download this fix to fix it. then you download it and its a virus.

My computer life tells me this,vmk and disney are the most well kept companies.(sure they horrible events though)If vmk HAS given you a virus let us all know.

Monday,October 31st 2005! BOO!

I was waiting outside for trick or treaters to come and my brother came outside so I said this.

" Man VMK on halloween sure sounds fun!" says melanie
"I thought that you were done with that game you're so stupied" says brother
"VMK is my life so there I can NEVER BE DONE WITH VMK!" says melanie

I don't want to sound mean or nasty, but from the conversation you posted it doesn't sound to me like your brother is old enough to make this kind of decision for you. Have you talked to your parents? Maybe you could have them read through some of the responses about the virus issue. (Copy them to a separate document & print it out if you don't them reading everything you've ever posted.)

To be honest, it sounds more like a bad case of sibling rivalry - and he just doesn't want you to do something that you like. Just try to remember that most brothers & sisters fight from time to time, but it does get better!

Actually I don't want to boar you all out of you're minds because I know that you all have VMK to tend to but me and my brother fight alot once he even said that he is so glad that he will move out of the house soon because he is 16 and then he won't have anything to do with me anymore. Now I am not one to be mean to anyone but he is seriously just mean to me because I am younger than he is it is not fair because I almost ran away once because he was being so mean to me!
