Ok so I just want to make sure I have this correct....
I thought that a TS meal in the dining plan was an appetizer, entree, dessert, drink(non-alc). I at first thought that was too much food and we would be paying more for the dining plan than we would OOP. Now looking at the dining plans(after finally figuring out where I want to eat), it looks like only the Deluxe dining plan offers an app with dinner or lunch. right? wrong? This is the plan....
Sun: Dinner at 'Ohana
Mon: Lunch at 50s Prime Time
Tues: Dinner at LeCellier(not sure yet, but mostly because I want to try the cheddah soup you all talk about)
Wed: I was just going to grab snacks or whatever along the way.

After looking at menus I'm now wondering if the dining plan will actually work out for us. I am hoping all of you who have a second home at Disney will be able to help. I feel so lost. One day I want the dining plan, another day I don't. One day I think "It's vacation! Go with it", the next day I think "If you want two vacations this year, budget!"

Does anyone else see why I'm losing it? Or am I just not playing with a full deck?

For adults the Deluxe Dining Plan iis the only one that includes an appetizer.

It looks like you will be there for three nights (Sun, Mon, Tues.) and that currently you have 3 TS meals scheduled. Le Cellier will be 2 credits for dinner, and 'Ohana and Prime Time are 1 each. If you opt for the regular dining plan you will have to pay for something out of pocket since you'll only have 3 TS credits. If you choose the DxDDP you'll have 9 dining credits so you have 5 more.

What are you planning for the rest of your meals? Right now it is impossible to say whether any of the dining plans would work or if it would be best to pay for everything OOP. To make the DxDDP worthwhile, however, the rule of thumb is you would need to schedule at least 2/3 of the credits at TS restaurants.

The basic plan USED to have the appetizer, but hasn't since 2008 I believe.

It's tough to say without the new LeCellier menu out yet. What I would do would be to wait until it comes out, then see what you'd order there. If the total per person reaches more than $62 (Entree, Drink, Dessert), then go for it. Otherwise, you're going to come out ahead by paying OOP. This is figuring $46 credit, $12 CS, $3 snack, leaving $31 per TS credit. Alternatively, if you book another 1 TS dinner somewhere relatively pricey, you'd end up doing alright by paying OOP at LeCellier.

For Deluxe, you'd want to book at least 2 more (2/3 at TS is roughly breaking even, but with a 2TS on such a short trip, I'd err on the side of caution and make it 7/9) to break even or come out ahead. This would end up being more costly that what you have now.
