So nice to be clean and poop-pee-free! (for now)...
Well after bathing, I left Cam in the room with Mike and went down to Roaring Forks to grab Cam a kid's meal for lunch and refill our mugs. By this time, Mike has become addicted to the Gold Peak White Tea with Citrus (YUCK), but he loves it! When I returned (and let me just say... I strongly disliked the location of our room- south wing- but man was it ever fast to just walk out one door, through the little mountain cave thingy, and right into Roaring Forks- THAT part I liked!) Anyways, when I returned just a few minutes later, mike already had the ribs unpacked and a picnic laid out on the bed. We had an awesome little lunch, noticed Cam doing a couple subtle eye-rubs, and took this as our ticket to take a nap. SUCCESS! family naptime!
We all woke up about two hours later and lounged around the room, watching T.V. and being lazy. Since we pulled off Animal Kingdom Day successfully this morning, we agreed that we "accomplished" what we set out to for the day and were officially "done." However..... after 15-20 minutes of doing nothing around the room I said this: "Babe- we're at DISNEY... Let's DO something!!" So he agreed to let me lead the way tonight, YAY!
Interruption: Has anyone ever seen Stitch wearing Minnie ears??? Here ya go:
I had us all packed up, dressed, and ready in 15 minutes and headed for the lobby- Mission: Downtown Disney! Instead of taking the fastest route to the bus stop through the lobby, we decided to walk outside first, then back to the lobby, so I could get some photos of Mike and Cameran on the lawn- it was beautiful!
Ok so now that I've had my fill of taking pictures, no one, NO ONE, was going to get in my way of getting to the bus stop, or even delay me in any way, I was on a mission, no front desk misunderstandings, no eager DVC guys, no....ooooooooo... Is that a PHOTOPASS GUY?!? I LOVE that they set up a LIGHTED photo shoot area in the lobby by the bridge, I LOVE that it's included as a "normal" photopass picture (so if you've already purchased the CD, you need not shell out MORE money, I LOVE that we had time to take some "relaxed-looking" family pics, but I did not LOVE the photographer. He was horrible. No personality- gave off a very "I do NOT want to be here, I hate everybody" vibe. I tried to not let my disgust show in the photos- I'm talented in this area... Cam? not so much. She has not yet developed her mother's "fake it till you make it" mentality... see?
Cam was so disturbed by the photo shoot, that we had to take her DIRECTLY to the mercantile to buy her a "LOL-POP." We let her pick ONE out (I say it like that because she picked out a Mickey Mouse lollipop bouquet of FIVE wrapped together- we will live to thank God for this purchase throughout the rest of this trip.)
Ok, lollipop in hand/mouth, we headed for the bus stop to wait (did I say wait?) NO, the bus was there and we got on a nearly empty bus to Downtown Disney with THEE MOST wonderful driver EVER! He was interesting. He was knowledgeable. He was funny, and most of all... HE WAS HAPPY! We arrive at DTD West in about 25 minutes. I think it was about 6:30PM now.
I haven't been to DTD since my bachelorette party at Pleasure Island in 2005, so I just walked around and tried to take in my surroundings. We hit the Christmas ornament shop first, but 10 minutes inside, with me gasping and squeaking every time Cameran touched something, caused us to flee the store without me buying my "first family vacation memento ornament." Oh well, this wasn't even our planned DTD night, so I will get it Friday when we come back. We were pretty hungry, so we headed into Earl of Sandwich for dinner. I ordered the Full Montague (which was awesome) and coleslaw, Mike ordered something with roasted peppers in it (I have temporarily misplaced my journal, and I cannot remember what it was) and pudding. Cameran ate half of my meal, which was convenient. Here are some photos of our meal together.
this is Mike's
Mine- YUMMO!
Dinner was simply AMAZING! We will be eating here every trip! Next up? World of Disney! It took us about 3 seconds while walking through the entrance way to realize we were getting sprayed. WOW! Cameran just fell in LOVE with spitting Stitch (I wonder why...) Here's the giant Stitch that spits water at the crowd about once per minute.
and here is my darling daughter's reaction to it
It took us SOOOO long to get her to leave the spitting Stitch and go inside. We finally pulled her away, screaming, and ran into ANOTHER screaming fit when she saw all the decorative "balloons" in the store and didn't understand that they were cemented to the wall/ceiling and could not be taken home with us! Anyways, while we were in the store, Mike was carrying Cameran on his shoulders, and all in one freakishly quick moment, he looked at me with panic in his eyes, and said "Crap!" I said "What?" he said "I told you... CRAP!" Oh Lord- here we go again. Prepare yourselves for a "Father of the Year Moment."
After just having his neck pooped on, Mike runs with Cameran out of the store, down endless, bathroomless alleys, and finally decides to bolt right past the T-Rex CM Staff at the door, locate a men's room in a restaurant he's never even been in, and re-emerge from the men's room with a totally refreshed, clean, changed baby, and look like nothing ever happened. They were in the restroom QUITE a while, so I just stood near the doors waiting for them. It amazed me how many people were SO confused as to which door to go in! The doors read "He-Rex" and "She-Rex" and by golly some people had NO CLUE what that meant. So... I'm a teacher, it's in my blood. I start directing traffic. When I see people approaching, I direct them to their appropriate restroom with a subtle finger-point technique. it was most amusing. Until I saw a couple of folks approaching that well... I just couldn't tell, so I decided it was time to leave the doorway. I found something to take photos of. HAHA
We then sashayed out of the restaurant as quietly and unnoticed as possible.
We decided that since Cam's tummy has obviously not adjusted to WDW foods yet, and we cannot predict the next "episode," we should probably head back to the resort. We left T-Rex and took a pic of Mike and Cam standing with the Lego dragon
and took a very uneventful bus ride back to the Wilderness Lodge, took a photo of the outside of our room for you (we are the second floor up, second room from the left- curtains are open)
It was about 9:45 (because the electric water pageant was just ending- I'd seen it twice, but mike and cam missed it both times) so Cam was awake but groggy, so I took her out on the balcony to say "hi" to everyone that walked by. and she did. until she fell asleep at exactly 10PM. Mike and I found something on T.V. that we were used to watching at home, so we stayed up until about 11:30. no need to get to bed too early tonight as tomorrow is our "resort day" and Lord have mercy! We're sleeping in!
Stay tuned for Day FOUR: Resort Day- "Stacey's First Slide."
