I think I may have overplanned

OK I need help with my ADR. We have booked and paid for the deluxe dining plan for a couple reasons 1. I hate greasy fast food and hamburgers 2. I like having an air conditioned break in a restaurant 3. My son is dying to do character meals 4. Counter service is complicated at this point in our lives since my husband is hard of hearing and I have some mobility issues. Its endless trips to get condiments, napkins, refills, waiting for a seat, etc. 4. We enjoy food and the themed restaurant atmosphere as part of the total vacation experience

BUT I have booked 14 ADR on a 5 day trip and now I am getting nervous that we will feel overscheduled and overstuffed where we can't enjoy our ADRs. Help!

Day 1- late dinner at Chef Mickeys
Day 2- breakfast at Hollywood & Vine then a Fantasmic dinner package at Hollywood Brown Derby
Day 3- 1900 Park Fare breakfast, Crystal Palace for lunch, late dinner at Tony's Town Square
Day 4- Akershus breakfast, Chef de France lunch, Tokyo dining for dinner since its supposed to have a good view for illuminations
Day 5- Cape May Cafe breakfast, Coral Reef Lunch, Garden Grill dinner
Day 6- Ohana breakfast then Liberty Tree Tavern lunch

We went with a large group 8 adults and 2 little ones last time for a week. We had the deluxe plan. I had planned for us to be together for 3 meals a day for the entire week. Soon found that did not work out and cut it down to one sit down each day where everyone was together and then everyone could go do their own thing. Anyways at the end of the trip we all agreed too much food. This next time we will try the basic dining plan and see if it will work out better for us. Mean time have fun planning. :cool1:

It is a lot of food, especially when you are doing buffet breakfasts. I guess the big questions are...how much time between meals, and do you all like to eat? TS meals, especially dinners should be enjoyed, not stuffed down. Try to keep your lunches smaller.

That looks like a lot of food. Have you thought about doing more 2 credit meals for dinner and having a big breakfast at buffets in the morning. You would probably only need a snack around lunch time.

We did the deluxe for a 5 day trip back in 2011...and it was a lot of fun! We only had 2 signature meals in the mix, but it was a blast. We prefer TS meals as well...it's easier for my older one's allergies and it's just a more relaxing setting. If it does feel like too much on any day and you're not 100% on any of your ADRs...I'd likely drop lunch/dinner plans and bump up to a signature to burn 2 credits. You also get so many snacks on that plan that they should be perfect for eliminating any hunger between breakfast and dinner.

The thing that jumped out at me was the reservation at the Brown Derby. Based on my experience there, you'll have no worries about being overstuffed after that meal. The food was excellent, don't get me wrong. But the portions are TINY. I didn't think it was worth the price. :)
