I think I have decided on the YC for our anniversary trip! Now, some questions:

My husband & I are doing an anniversary trip in mid-May - yippee! I have decided on the YC......but now, what type room should I request? Do all of the rooms have a full balcony? How are the standard rooms......gosh, a waterview room looking at cresent lake would be awesome, wouldn't it? I guess it just depends on those May 2003 codes! Please tell me about the standard view rooms that you have gotten ...is there a location I should request for a standard room?

Good Choice:D
All the Yacht club rooms have a balcony. Since its your anniversary then I say go for the waterview!!!
This is such a great resort!! Have funplanning.

I would probably too splurge for the water view if you can, just beware that water view sometimes can mean the view of the pool off to the side quiet pool). You have to be specific about your request overlooking the bay.

We had a water view, but were just above where the front entrance is, at the end of a hall (sorry, don't remember room #). I have to say it was a PARTIAL water view, because the arms of the hotel blocked a lot of our view. Maybe would be worth asking for an unblocked view, but then again, I get real picky!

Have a great anniversary...good luck!

Hi! Lucky you, a trip in May! It's a wonderful time to visit!

For a standard view room at the Yacht Club, request a room "on the lake side of the hotel" and a room on an upper floor. You'd avoid a parking lot view, and possibly end up with a partial water view (or, a nice garden/courtyard view)!

We have stayed at the YC the last 7 visits, booking standard rooms. Of those 7 times, we were upgraded 5 times, once to concierge! And these times were all during the July 4th week.

The YC aims to please, and if they have an upgrade available, they will give it to you. If you are set on a waterview room, then book it though. We always request the 3rd or 4th floor (3rd floor is completely non-smoking). Some waterview rooms on the 2nd floor (of Cresent Lake) have an obscured view because of some trees. There are floor maps of the YC on the YC Forum within this resorts forum. They give you the layout of standard and waterview rooms.

At check-in, I always ask them to show me the room on the layout before they check me in, in case I don't like the location. And yes, all the rooms have a full balcony. You will love the YC! It's our absolute favorite, and our "home away from home." :):D:)

We've requested room 3063 for our October trip because we had that room two years ago and loved it. It overlooks the lagoon and has a view of the Boardwalk. Also, you can see the Epcot Fireworks. It's kind of a walk from the elevators but there is a staircase right there that will take you out a back door to the lagoon. I guess any of the room in that 306# hallway would be great. We had booked a waterview and the room we originally got overlooked a roof so we went back down and requested another room.
Check in really early in the AM because a great room may be opening up during that day. YC will let you store your luggage and then recheck in at 4pm and get that great room.

Our plans for a November trip to YC have us moving from another resort early one morning. So, in your experience, it's best to go ahead and check in - even though "check in time" isn't until 3pm? And that would mean a better chance of getting preferences and/or upgrades?

That's what we are doing, too. We've done this a few times before. We're doing one night at the Fort Wilderness Home then moving to the Yacht Club the next morning. It's easier because we're driving in and won't arrive at Disney until probably 7pm (and we get to go to the outdoor movie and sing-a-long!)
We've checked in as early as 9pm at our resort the next morning.
You can check in, scope out your room, get your park passes, etc...then return later in the day.
If you don't like the room, request another one.
I'm not sure about upgrades. I would rather go early and take the chance of getting a room with a great view.
We were upgraded to concierge once and didn't really use the perks because we were on the Grand Plan anyway. (We only go on a REAL vacation every two years, so we splurge!)
