Today's his 69th birthday and I called to wish him a happy birthday. He said that mom had forgotten. I can't imagine being married to someone for 30 years and forgetting their birthday, but maybe that's just me.

Not that it is ok that your mom forgot his birthday, but I do know that since my parents have retired they both are much less into keeping track of dates and days of the week.

Is your mom having any other memory problems? If she is, I think I would encourage her to see her doctor.

I am curious as to why you think you got your mom in trouble? Do you not think that your dad remembered it was his birthday?

I hope he ends up having a happy birthday!!

Hey, it's still not too late to remind her if she forgot...poeple make mistakes. I would ry to give her the heads-up...

I did give her a heads-up as soon as he gave the phone back to her, but I know it's not quite the same hearing it from someone after they've had to be reminded (she said she remembered at one point this morning but forgot to say anything.)

Well then, I would think after 30 years of marriage, they have both made mistakes and he will find it in him to understand. I hope they have a nice celebration.

I forget hubbys birthday all the time. I forget mine too, until someone calls to wish me a "happy" one.

Bdays never were real big deals to me I guess. LOL Maybe that's how your mom is too. :)

Funny story...two years ago on my birthday DH never said a word. Now I told him my Mother and Sisters had taken me to lunch, I had placed my birthday cards from all my family on top of the TV, he sat there all night never said anything....I then got a call from his Mom and additional family members from out of state and spoke to them in the same room...nada...I was so enjoying this because "HE WAS GOING TO PAY BIG TIME." even recieved call backs from my Mother, and sisters to see if he had remembered...nothing...Then I hear him snoring, I'm home free thinking of just how I'm going to get back at him....He wakes up at 11:45p.m. looks over at me and says "OH....Happy Birthday," He said he did remember I say it doesn't count.

See, birthdays are a big deal to me (luckily, she's never forgotten mine.)
PAW, it was more of a tongue-in-cheek "I got her in trouble." He'll give her a hard time and might pretend to forget her birthday but he's not going to yell at her or divorce her over it or anything.

LOL! Sounds like something I would do

DH and I have only been married 7 years and we forgot our anniversary last year.:D

HW,
So your parents are both back home, safe and sound? That's good - I never did hear an update from your post of last week and was wondering.

As you get older - priorities change - and maybe wishing your Dad a Happy Birthday is a little further down her list of things to do for the day....:D
