I think I created a monster

We took our 8 year old DD and our 2 year old DS to WDW in October. We new our DD would love it since she has been so many times and she was now able to go on all the thrill rides for the first time. This was our sons first trip and we thought he would have fun too. Of course he hated the characters and yelled at them to go away, but that was the only thing he didn't like. But since we have come home he wakes up every morning, and when I get him dressed he asks "Diney Word? Ya Mom Diney Word!" Some times he takes my hand and brings me to the car and says "Come on, Diney Word" UGH!! It breaks my heart to tell him every morning, "No we're not going to Disney World today. Maybe soon."
There's nothing like being reminded everyday that we are not going to Disney today. So for any one who thinks 2 is to young to bring them to Disney they are wrong, our 2 year old loves Disney. The only problem is I think we created a monster! Or maybe he's just a Dis'er in the making.

That is just too cute! Enjoy his love of WDW! I agree that he's a DIS'er in the making.

My youngest DS9 definitely loves it as much as DH & I. Oldest DS12 enjoys it, but not as much. We traveled with DNephew12 over XMAS and he just wasn't really into it much at all, and was quoted as saying "Disney is boring - I want to go home" several times over the course of our 2 week long trip. :sad2: I know that some pre-teens and teens feel that they're "too old" for Disney, but I really think the issue was that he just wouldn't let himself enjoy things. We really take our time and soak up the atmosphere and enjoy even the little things like the Morroco museum at Epcot and the animal trails at AK, but if it wasn't a big thrill ride like Space Mountain or Expedition Everest, DNephew just wasn't really into it. Now, don't get me wrong - I love the thrill rides too, but I like the whole WDW package of rides, shows, theming, & atmosphere!

A little over a year ago we took my 3 children (twin 2/3 year olds-turned 3 at Disney) and an almost 1 year old. Well the 1 year old wasn't a huge fan. So when we went in December we decided not to take the baby! BIG MISTAKE! Although I know we did the right thing for the majority of the time, there were moments when the now 4 year olds really missed their brother. My ds kept asking when were we going home, he wanted to see his baby Pat. So we won't do that again. At least once a day I heard he wanted to go home!! Although now that we are home, we too get asked if we are going to Disney. We are already planning our next trip, although the kids don't know it yet.

Nothing wrong with a Disney "monster" they just make you laugh!

Right there with you. I created a monster too- starting before we even got on the plane. We took our 2 year old (at 34 months), last month. Now Cinderella calls her toy phone about every day asking when she is coming back to visit her. Sometimes, if its not Cinderella, it's Minnie. Unlike your DS, she absolutely went nuts over the characters. She did a running tackle hug when it was her turn for most of them. I think it is partly because she knew who they all were before the trip because the minute we booked, I started making an effort to teach her who the ones were she didn't already know with books and some of the movies. The result of that is 1) I can no longer tell you how many times I have been forced to watch Cinderella 1, 2 and 3 and Peter Pan 1 and 2 but I'm thinking its probably into the 100s; and 2) I don't think that there has been a day in the last 6 months that she has not spent a good part of the day in her now old, ratty, ripped stained Cinderella dress (and yes I bought a new one-but she refused to wear it except at WDW when I left the old one at home). Last night she asked if she could watch Aladdin and I just about jumped for joy at the fact that she was branching out!

Those are great stories! My son new all the characters. We even did the LE breakfast for him. He took his new Star Wars action figures we bought him and started shooting at Golitith. He didn't mind CP breakfast and let Pooh go near him but it even took him a long time to get near Mickey. It was okay my DD wasn't that into seeing the characters that much this time, she just wanted to ride all the big rides.
Well I just found my DS with a can of Pam spraying my dog with the can of Pam. Plus it's now all over the floor. Does Pam make a good floor polish? I really would love to go to Disney right now!

Aw!! At least he loves Disney!

My sons ask about Disney all the time, too. They are ages 5 and 4. My 4 year old always asks if we're going to Disney soon and both often start conversations with "Remember when we went to Disney and..." I love it- my DH isn't really that into Disney (yet- he's new at this!) so I'm glad that my kids enjoy it at least!
