I think I am finally sick of Disney...

Yep, I agree the thinner toilet paper is a deal killer for me these days...time to boycott
I believe they should move to bidets, myself. No hinged doors either, z-shaped paths to bathrooms.
OP, change up your routine. Aim for a new experience or take time away, then see if it's dead in you.

It's expensive everywhere guys. We went to sesame place. Expensive and the food is horrid! Plus, I have about a 5 hour expiration date there. We are about to go to Hershey Park. Guess what. It's expensive there too! Don't know about the food yet, but I don't get excited about eating with a walking candy bar, like I do with Disney characters. At least at Disney you CAN stay for 10 days and not be wondering what to do with yourself after 2 days.

I'm just saying...the grass is always greener, but taking a break can be necessary from time to time.

We grew tired of the parks quite some time ago. We have relatives that work for Disney that can get us in parks for free. We only us it to dine a restaurant in the parks. The rides are...well its a museum. They are old and low tech. Disney spent a fortune on those stupid magic bands. In my opinion, an average family of 4 cant afford Disney with AP passes at the $700 range and food averaging $300 per day for the family. Disney's biggest mistake was cheapening the quality of food. Disney's problem is the place is packed and they are making a fortune. So the problem is someday the crowds will decrease because the place is old and boring and it will be too late to invest the billions it will take to save it. They are not keeping up.

We still love DVC however, we go and enjoy the resorts and the Florida weather. The pools are nice, the place is well landscaped and it is Disney. We absolutely love Vero Beach. My wife and the kids love the place. I encourage anyone that needs a disney break to go for Vero. And by the way, if you not have done Hawaii, it is awesome!!! Its the best hotel I have ever stayed at.

Keep DVC and just stop wasting your money on the parks. Some day Disney will realize that DVC folks have stopped going to disney

I completely agree tigger031266. We went to Aulani but had come from Germany, so was extremely jet lagged and didn't enjoy the antiquated lines to do activities. I think I will heed your suggestion and try out Vero and Hilton Head. I lived in Vero for a year and didn't find it to be a vacation destination, but it's Disney, so will likely be enjoyable.

It should be noted that the Express Pass at Universal does NOT include the Harry Potter attractions. Universal has no appeal to my kids other than the Harry Potter area. We would consider at least a night's stay at a Universal resort if the Express Pass included HP.

If you stay at one of their hotels, you get in an hour before the normal people. You'll find that as soon as they open, the entire crowd heads for HP. When we last did it, we found we walked a little slower than many of the tweens, and had a 10 minute wait for the ride. By the time we exited the ride, the wait was still only 20 minutes, so we got right back in line and did it again. After that, we used our express pass and got a near walk-on experience at every ride.

t.....i don't think pricing is out of line at all after taking vacations over the last few years not in Disney i really don't feel like they are that over priced....so i am not really sure what "cheap" vacations are out there god a week in Ocean City NJ near the beach is 3-5k just for the house for the week not including anything else

That is the exact reason we started going to WDW for vacation. We spent way more money going to Ocean City, NJ for one week then we did WDW. And at least at WDW as opposed to the beach I didn't need to buy groceries, cook meals, clean up dishes, do laundry, setup umbrellas / pop-up tents on beach, clean sand from everything, stand in a 45 minute line for pizza, pay outrageous prices for carnival rides and drive myself & family everywhere. Don't get me wrong, I still love going to the beach. But the beach is more money for us and more work for me.

Guess I'm not alone in the feeling that it's time for a break. After we do Christmas week with the family so the grandkids can experience the parks during the holiday I think I'll just rent out our DVC points and maybe do a cruise or two until the three new lands get completed.

We are both retired, so we have lots of free time, and we have always liked to travel. We own AP's not only to WDW, but also to Dollywood. We make at least 3 four night trips to PigeonForge not only for Dollywood but also for Great Smokey Mountain NP. I think that everything is expensive.

Do whatever you can to enjoy your vacation time and money. WDW is not for everyone. I understand that, we still love our vacations there, as well as VB, HH, and yes, Aulani!

I think if I had visited WDW as often as the OP, I would be sick of it too. We don't go more than once per calendar year and we try to take different people along on each trip. For example, next spring we are taking my niece who hasn't visited a Disney park in 4 years. She is super duper psyched about it and that's what keeps the magic alive! We will also be staying at Poly for the first time and I am really looking forward to trying out that property. Last, we try to include one "new" experience of each trip.

Before I started selling off any points, I would try renting them out for two years and using the $$ to travel to other locations. If you still aren't feeling Disney after two years, I would go ahead and sell.

Sometimes I wonder if Universal is so awesome because we do not go there all the time?

We just got off of our 5th Disney cruise and it was not great at all. I even emailed Disney to tell them I was displeased and their response was basically too bad. I just feel that Disney overall does not care because if I quit coming it doesn't matter because there is another 50 of me that will. We are coming back in the spring but we are going to be staying at the DVC resort but driving over to Universal. We feel maybe a break from the parks of Disney will bring that Disney Magic back.

We did Dollywood 2 years ago. It was super cute and we had a great time, but I think 2 days is about all we could do of the park. We stayed for a week and did the smokies, rafting, gatlinburg, etc. I liked the charm of Dollywood and even mentioned to dh about how Disney used to have some of that charm and it has been stripped away. I wish some of that would come back, but I think the masses of people and people complaining about portions being small, lines being long, etc causes things to be generic out of necessity :/. I still think they do an amazing job considering the amount of people that move through there, and they are never closed. Chances are you are going to miss your favorite ride due to refurbs...

If I went 3-4 times a year I would need a break as well.

We routinely only visit WDW once in a calendar year. We don't go to the parks but once or twice a visit. We go at different times of the year. We are trying to stay at each DVC resort once. All of this has kept Disney fresh enough for us to keep visiting. Just saw Cirque Du Soliel for the first time. Still haven't seen splitsville or the dine in movies at Disney Springs yet. We are pacing it all out. Vacationing this way prevents us from getting Disney saturated.

I can really relate!!! I've been a member since '03....not all that long, but long enough to notice changes. It's really not all about the cost for me. I know costs are going to keep going up. But, when you raise prices, but take stuff away? That's my issue. APs that have black out dates for DVC members?? Seriously? Food quality is declining.....I know some people don't agree, but if you've gone to WDW, consistenly, twice a year since '03, you'll notice a change. Yet, the costs go up. The ddp is merely a prepaid dining option now....with no added gratuity!. There is a remarkable sameness to the lounges through-out the resorts. Used to be that you could find something different and unique to each lounge. Same with gift shops and restaurants. Not so much anymore. And merchandise quality has gone down...a lot.
Will I continue going to WDW? I'm sure I will. My dd hopes to work with the DCP and then stay on permanently, starting next fall. So, we'll want to see her. But, going for Christmas is an issue if we don't upgrade our APs!!! I've already cut way back on the number of meals we eat in WDW restaurants. I seldom buy any merchandise any more...too expensive for stuff that either falls apart or shrinks quickly.
We have a two day stay at US/IoA in the middle of our late January stay...yes, paying for HRH Club Level for a night, but keeping our BWV studio. Really looking forward to that two day stay! No, I can't stay at US/IoA for more than two days...just not enough for me to do. But, it's a welcome respite from WDWs lessening value.
May be time to start using our points for stays elsewhere in the world/country.

As prices keep rising, I think there is not only the question of "Can I still afford Disney?" but also " Is it worth it?" Everyone has a different threshold for what something is worth. People will reach their personal threshold for what they are willing to spend on Disney as prices increase.

I am about to buy into DVC and I will only go every other year. We have been to Disney every other for a while now and having to be away for an extra year so we can buy our contract is killing me. The cost of food and tickets aren't much different than any other tourist destination. We go to Great Wolf Lodge and the cost per night tends to be a little higher than Disney. If I went to Disney more than once a year, I can see how you could get burnt out.

I have 4 kids ranging from 10 to 2 and they all love WDW, so I will go until they don't want to go anymore.

I hear the OP we are thinking the same... we are at Disney now. First day went to MK early, went over to ride SM broken down, rode Buzz and TTA and SM still broken down. Head over to other side and wanted to do HM broken down.... ok so lets head over to TM you guessed it broken down. We got on line at Splash Mt which turned out longer than expected since everyone that had FP got on line over there instead since those are the only 2 over there.. so its like now 10:30 decided to eat... went to Pecos Bills since in now has the Mexican food. Well the Buritto there was 11.99, this past summer we at it in Tortiga Tavern and it was 8.49 I think...now that is a price increase.. after lunch we used our FP and left. There is so much construction going on all over, with equipment stored everywhere . I agree about going so often we see alot and realize how much it has changed, where people who come less often or once could care less . Oh last few days we have stayed at the resort, which is being referb so construction and noise here too, and equipment too all over. Not much Magic.:(:(:(

I'm not sick of Disney, however my kids are. I really want to purchase an AP this year so we can go again next Oct/Nov, but they don't want to go. My boys are 12 and 9 and they are sick of the crowds and some of the rides breaking down. They told me they want do go on a 7 day cruise with no parks, maybe a MNSSHP or the Christmas party. We might have to take a break, I hope things will get better in a couple of years.
