it's another!!!!

DH took the hideous shiny flush mount gold lamp down from the kitchen last night to put up the new, mission style semi flush mount light. Simple right??

Not in this house!!! LOL

Apparently when the ceiling was plastered on 1938 it was never painted, ev.er. There was the worst looking black ring around where the lamp was and I could not get it off and I proceeded to slice my finger open on one of the sharp points of the textured ceiling. OUCH!!

So what should have taken 10 minutes took 2 hours!!! We masked off the whole kitchen, removed everything from the kitchen, and painted the ceiling. Very cool paint though, it goes on pink and dries white. So my 365 pic yesterday was my splotchy pink ceiling. LOL
And DH went back out to Home Depot and bought the new hardware I wanted, we had white and gold handles that I hated!!!

the last things I need to do is finish painting, get new counter tops (paperstone, recylcled paper and cashew resin), hang the new curtains and replace the floor!!

Pretty! I've seen that pink paint in the store before - nice to know it works well!

I am a big fan of the mission style. Our new dining room set is mission-inspired.

The pink paint is cool but OMG does it smell horrid! Ventilate, ventilate, ventilate!!!

It's not bad LOL I have 1 counter top and the little strips of counter on either side of the stove. And we have a very narrow galley kitchen so the floors are nothing, 3 boxes of flooring, if that.
I have the paint and the curtains, just need the time. I figure I can paint in an afternoon if the kids would just leave me alone. Tomorrow I'm going to do the wall with the stove and the fridge since DH is home, he can help me pull them out.

because that is what we do. We live in a house we hate, get it perfect, then sell it. It happens every single time! LOL This is the first house I have owned where pics have actually gone up more then 2 weeks before it went up on the market.

I know the floors will be way later on, need to replenish the funds first. And we are trying to decide if we should do all the floors or just the kitchen and the front hall. I can't decide. I will be so happy to share those pics!! I despise this floor, it always looks dirty.

It's kind of murphy's law when you are doing renovations to a house. One project begets another.

the month before we moved, my husband kicked some *ss and did like 100 "honey do" projects that we'd had on our list for YEARS!

I was so sad he took the time to do them to sell the house but hadn't taken the time to do it so we could have enjoyed them.

And the house sold -- whosh!

So when we moved into the new house, he wrote me a note (which I am keeping as proof) that if something needed done in the new house, he'd do it right away so we could enjoy it.
