I SWEAR I will not look at flights again...No "Attendance Award" for YOU!"

What a great PTR!! :cheer2:
You are a very interesting writer, and I am dying to hear the point about your Mom!!
We are super excited to be staying at AKV Jambo house also! We rented points for our upcoming stay there as well as VWL, I NEVER knew about this as an option until a few months ago, we saved HUNDREDS, amazing!!

A)The point about my Mom is coming in a minute...

B) Renting points is the BOMB. :cheer2: Let me know when you are at AKL. We are there the 26-29, which sounds like it might be your VWL time??

Sooooo....
Back to Mom.

Frequent Flier miles are your friend!....sometimes. Unless you are dealing with a wishy-washy flier...

DH is an auto exec with a global job. That means a LOT of international travel, which also means a gazzzzillion miles.
He is almost always Delta Diamond. Nice perks for all of us. Mainly me...

So, a couple weeks ago I mentioned to Mom that if she wanted a do-over she could come with L and I in January.

Got syrup??? You'll need it.
What followed was a LOT of waffling.
"Oooooohhhh...I just don't get around so well anymore.
Mom, I know you don't need a scooter but I know you like something to lean on so I checked walker rental prices and I can get a really nice type with the seat...
Oooooohhh...those are uncomfortable. People always have to bend waaay over them. Looks like it hurts. And you really can't lean because the seat is in the way.
Well Mom, I found a good flight for you to join us a couple of days into the trip (so you don't get too tired doing the whole week) but you know how miles flights are...they could be gone tomorrow.
Oooohhhh....I have a doctor appt tomorrow but I just don't really know how I would manage Disney."

Ok sane people, what would you take away from that conversation??
I took "Hey, I'd really like to, but not up to it".
Am I nuts?

Fast forward to today, walking into little C's first grade Christmas concert.
Mom is holding my elbow for stability.

Me: "See! We could have done this around Disney if you had wanted to go.
Mom: Oh, I thought you booked the ticket you told me about."

:scared1::confused::scared1::confused:

WHAT THE HOLY CRUMPET ON A STICK?????

OH NOOOO!:faint: And you said???

We are at AKL the 17th - 19th, and at VWL from the 24th - 26th.

OH NOOOO!:faint: And you said???

Nothing. Nada. Bupkus. Totally speechless!
I recovered a little and told her she never indicated she actually wanted to go...to which she replied "I told you I had a doctor appointment the next day." I guess in her world that message contained some sort of secret code I apparently have the unknown power to decipher...

Soooooo....The trip report title is now null and void, as obviously I WILL be looking at flights again...I think. Maybe. Possibly. Who knows.

You are so hilarious!!! I am utterly and completely sucked into your PTR!! :thumbsup2 I was going to update my DR with my last meal at WDW but now I want to hear more about your planning, dining, park plans and of course what the heck will happen with your mom!!!

I hope you like BLT. I didn't think I would like it but now we always make it a point to stay all or part of the trip at that resort. And I REALLY need to figure out how to rent points since we pay cash (yikes, even rack rates sometimes) to stay at our preferred resort/room type.

I will be curious to see how you like POP. I will admit that after staying at only deluxes and villas, I'm not necessarily a value snob but I'm in no hurry to book an All Star resort. ;)

You totally made my night.. I'm so glad I found your PTR!!

Oh and you have an ADORABLE family!

:wave2: Hello, joining in!

I found your PTR just as I was about to head off to bed, so I admit I have only read your first 2 posts...but I WILL be back to read them...tomorrow!

Love your writing style already though :rotfl2:

I have virtually no sweet tooth. L is the type to eat a few bites of sweet and call it good. You probably won't see us induldging in cupcakes the size of our heads for breakfast. I think everything LOOKS so pretty...two bites in I could gag.

I do have a sweet tooth, but a lot of Disney desserts are way too intensely sweet for me. I do like some of the cupcakes, though, as long as I have milk and can split them with eldest.

to which she replied "I told you I had a doctor appointment the next day.".

That sounds less "passive/aggressive" and more "plain ol' space cadet". Hubby and I have conversations like that. Half the time it's, "How is this not obvious?" that whatever meant "x," and a connection can be shown, at least. The other half, even the one who said whatever realizes there no logical reason to think that meant 'x', since even with hindsight they can't figure out how the two were connected. Although somehow it made sense at the time. :sad2:

MILK!!! YEEEEESSSSS!!!!

I completely understand the phenomenon you describe...however....she still annoyed me!
:rotfl2:

I have good news, bad news, and no news....

First, the bad news.:sad2:
Little C is very sick. She has been asleep for the better part of over 24 hours and has a raging fever.
Initially I thought it was just a virus, but now I'm leaning more toward a virus AND something bacterial mixed in, so a bit later we will be heading to urgent care.
Right now she is asleep next me on our bed.

Which leads me to the good news. (look for that silver lining!)
Since I have nothing to do but sit on the bed next to my poor, sweet, sick, sleeping baby at the moment, I can write to all of you!

Which leads me to the no news....
Still haven't figured out what to do about Mom.
I talked to DH and we can still get her a flight.
However, I'm now not 100% sold on her coming.
I know...I know....

Off to try to get some juice into Little C.

Yikes! Scary. :( Hope little C feels much better soon.

Thanks!
Well I'm back in the same spot on the bed watching the same sick Little C sleep...;)
Her fever was over 104 when we hit the urgent care...
According to the doctor it would appear that strep is the culprit and hopefully after some antibiotics she will be up and running again!

Oh my gosh that's a high fever, poor little thing!!!! I hope she feels better real soon:goodvibes

The update of mixed feelings....

*sigh* Connecticut.
I cried today.
Hard to be joyful about Disney when so many are hurting....

In the immortal words of Forrest Gump. "That's all I have to say about that."

So I DID end up booking a ticket for Mom.
For some odd reason prices dropped, which is bizzare for a Friday.
So in the end she will be joining us for the ENTIRE TRIP.
Am I :scared1: or :cool1:??
Only time will tell.
I do plan to change a couple of the ADRs Logan and I had. I'm not thrilled about that, but it's a whole complicated confusion regarding the cost of DDP vs my TIW card.
On occasion, especially this trip when I planned to do a couple of long-awaited signatures, the DxDP isn't actually a bad deal.
My Mom just doesn't eat enough to make it worth paying for though.
So in the end I won't have the DDP and I'll just use my TIW.
But I will probably cancel Yachtsman and Narcoosees....:sad:

Sadly, there are likely always that many hurting for lost children -- their stories just aren't usually in the news. :(

Hope the meds kick in soon and your little one starts feeling better. :)

So in the end she will be joining us for the ENTIRE TRIP.
Am I or ??

That's kind of how I felt about our trip when my mom finally decided they weren't going -- I'd invited them along, but still wasn't sure if I should be disappointed or relieved they weren't coming! Family, I tell ya.

Hey all...

I popped on to post an update about adding Mom to our plans.
I want to write, but at the moment I just can't. I thought distracting myself and total WDW immersion would help for one quiet moment but nothing will help just now.

My sweet, dear, beautiful darling friend was murdered last night.
I was one of the last people to see her alive.

It is torture at the moment.

My oldest is best friends with her two teenaged sons.
She has left behind a darling three year old.

...I won't say more now, but it's a nightmare.

I am sorry to hear that

I'm still here...
Hoping soon all the shock and sadness will subside. Obviously at the moment it is hard to get excited about a vacation but I'll bounce back.

Finishing up Christmas chores.

Went to a vigil for my friend on Monday evening. The services and burial are tomorrow.
No word on leads to find her killer.
She was hit in the road, her body was dragged about a quarter of a mile and then the evil s.o.b. veered into a parking lot, pulled her body out from under the car and drove off...
I was among the last few people to see her alive. I just keep turning it all over again and again in my mind.

She was just at WDW about a month ago with her husband and her 3 year old son...

*sigh*

I did add Mom to the all of the reservations and ME transportation. That is about as much Dising as I've done. I want to do more cute stuff for the trip and as soon as I'm feeling myself I am sure I will.
