I was running along a pretty busy main road and was comming up to a side road on the left that is tough to get out from due to a house blocking vision from the left and a shrub blocking vision from the right.

I knew this so I was on my toes. Even with that, before I knew it a car had come flying up the side street and looked left without really slowing down much. I was right in front of the car when he hit the accelerator to make a right turn and apparantly never saw me. Thankfully, I had enough time to jump and use the hood of his car to push myself away as he took off down the road.

I landed on my feet and proceeded to scream every bad word that I know at him as he drove away. My wrist hurt a for a few hours but is fine now and my left lat muscle is sore but other than that I am fine.

I don't really have a problem with getting hit. Sh*t happens. I can't imaging hitting someone, though and driving away. I didn't even see him look in his mirror. I would have gladly accepted any form of recognition of what had happened.

Anyway, the point of writing this is simply to give everyone something to think about. Don't get complacant. If I were not the marvelous athletic specamin that I am :teeth: , thing would have been worse.

I have had almost identical experiences. I walk at the WKU Campus hills often and there are a lot of narrow roads between the buildings. Same thing people look right left and turn right, I usually slam down hard on the car hood or window to let them know how close they came to killing someone.

The most dangerous intersections are the roads coming into and out of the schools. The parents are in a huge hurry to get the kids dropped off and get away. I have a run in with traffic there at least once a week. The scary part is that the sidewalks are full of kids walking to school also and they are in the same danger. Last year 4 people were killed by cars on the WKU campus, 2 of them were in cross walks.

Thanks for reminding our friends of the danger Scott.

Take care of yourself Scott.

The story sounds like something that can happen to any of us unless we train inside all of the time or on a closed track. The World has gotten into such a fast-paced, got-to-get-there-now attitude that no one is thinking of the person next to them. Thanks for posting. It was a needed reality check.

Glad you're okay Scott! Thank goodness you are such a marvelous athletic speciman. :rotfl:

Glad to hear you are OK Scott! It amazes me that someone can do that and just drive away.

Thank God you are ok, Scott!

I had a similar thing happen to me awhile back. I still think about it every time I walk/run or drive by that same spot in my neighborhood.

OMG Scott! I am so glad you were not injured more than you are. Hope that now you are still feeling ok. So sad that that driver did not care enough to stop.

OMG, Scott, I'm so glad you're ok!

I can't believe that the driver didn't even bother to stop! That's terrible. What is wrong with people these days? :sad2:

Glad to hear your okay Scott. I can't believe they didn't stop. :confused3

Oh, my goodness, Scott, I am so glad you are okay!

I had something very similar happen to me too, but thankfully it was in my neighborhood so the guy was driving pretty slow. He was very apologetic and I think it scared him more than it scared me.

Stay safe everyone!! :grouphug:

OMG!!!! SO glad you are ok!!! I can'tbelieev they just dforve off. :sad2:

Scott - I'm glad you're okay! I can't believe they didn't stop. Maybe part of the reason they didn't stop was that they didn't see you - I see so many drivers playing with their Blackberries, the radio, doing their make up or just bent over trying to pick up stuff from the glove compartment or the other seat.

Of course I think with so many people use to driving - they aren't use to seeing someone on foot anymore. There are parts of the city where I live that just aren't pedestrian friendly :(

I couldn't say if he saw me or not. I would have to think that he heard me hit the hood on his car though. Remembering how pissed I was, it might have been the right move to keep going anyway.

Thanks everyone. The lasting effects are only mental at this point. All is well physically.

OMG Scott, I just saw this! :scared1: Don't even get me started on how people don't even pay attention when they are driving!!! Well, I'm glad you're OK. It still makes me mad though!!
