Theology is clearly not YOUR strength either, not even close. But, you are rather amusing so keep up the good work. It was a slow day as it was.

I think what discernment means is that the homosexual agenda is advancing little by little, and will be in place before anyone notices.

I used to work for the Episcopal Diocese of New York back in the mid-70's, when the ordination of women was a big issue. Now they have a female Presiding Bishop. It only took 30 years, which, I guess, is "incremental."

So I guess that, 30 years from now, heterosexual marriage will be destroyed because everybody will be involved in gay marriages.

"Not that there's anything wrong with that."
--- J. Seinfeld

Sorry to have to tell you but it won't be another 30 years before gay people can get married. I'm confident it'll happen much sooner than that. Especially if so many close minded bigots keep bringing attention to the topic in their bid for office. If they'd keep their ignorant mouths shut, perhaps it wouldn't have become so prominent in peoples' minds as it is right now.

And when that day comes and gays can marry, I'm equally confident that we'll screw it up royally just like the straight community already has. Frankly, I'd just love the chance to have a 50% divorce right. At least that would be an option we don't already have!

I guess the next thing we will hear is the Catholic Church releasing a statement that certain Priests of theirs were born with "affections" to young boys.

I mean if "affections" are inborn then arent they all "affections" included under that umbrella or do you get to pick and choose which ones are inborn based on your agenda.

But this newly elected Bishop is more concerned about pushing her agenda than tearing the whole demoniation apart. Nice. She shoudl have stuck to studying oysters

Ewww!

Why must people blaspheme the Catholic church with reference to a CRIME to debate against homosexuality.

My goodness!

Liking someone of the same sex isn't a crime. If it were you couldn't even have someone as "just a friend".

Disgusting comparison! Unless you are proclaiming that all gay men like little boys. Oh wait--no--still DISGUSTING and untrue!

discernment said:
Or your agenda is to pick and choose which one of these so-called inborn "affections" are normal and which ones are deviant.

So if you choose one alternate "affection" you are now being normalized by our society.

Are you serious? How in the heck can you compare homosexuality to pedophilia????? Especially under the guise of so called "religion"????

Lying is a sin, too, but is it the same as homicide??? Heck, let's give a life sentence to ALL crimes, misdemeanors or felonies... no, let's send them all to the chair!

Liberalism or common sense, man, this is just insane. I respect standing FOR something but come on!

And when that day comes and gays can marry, I'm equally confident that we'll screw it up royally just like the straight community already has. Frankly, I'd just love the chance to have a 50% divorce right. At least that would be an option we don't already have

No one has SCREWed UP the "family" like heterosexuals... hence the divorce rate. If every single person in my life was homosexual except me it still wouldn't effect my relationship with the person I choose, no worse than the fact that I have to live daily with people with opposing viewpoints. To each his own.

But since everybody in your life was homosexual and you were not then you would have nobody to choose from so it would effect your relationship. ;)

This is a little embarrassing. I meant to be sarcastic. I totally agree with the new Presiding Bishop, and have a rainbow sticker on my car (while being straight).

If anybody interpreted my remarks as being anti-gay, I'm sorry!!

Amy, I took your post exactly as you had intended. Hence the level of equal sarcasm in my own post.

Stupid internet. If only there was a better way to convey humor.

Rick, here's to hoping I have half the knowledge you have when I'm 40. Lucky for me, that's still 18 years away. :rotfl:

Oh no you didn't ;)

So if sexual preferences and "attraction" is inborn then doesnt that include people that are attracted to children? Its amazing at how people want to just stop right at homosexuality when claiming that their choice to be gay was actually a genetic predisposition.

There are consenting relationships, homosexual and heterosexual, between people above and below the legal age of consent.

There are those out there that are pushing for the legal age of consent to be lowered all at attempts to normalize their deviant sexual desires.

Incrementalism. Normalize one abnormal behavior and open the door to others.

There's always the classic pie in the face (wholeheartedly supported by the Anglican church):

Ah it is only abnormal to you, but not to a person born that way.

BTW the person maybe born desiring kids, but the object of their attention (kid) has no interest in the a adult. When the adult acts out their desire they are harming a kid who was not a willing participant. So IMHO your arguement does not hold water.

You win! Your agenda is clearly bigger than my agenda. Then again, my agenda only involves making a few more phone calls, picking up dinner and watching a DVD from Netflix.

So you actually believe that 2 gay adults who live in a long term partnership is the same thing as a child molester? No difference??

And you still have not answered me: are you an Episcopalian or not?

PS- cr, I like the pie idea ;)

1. I believe that both are abnormal, deviant sexual behavior.
2. No, I am not.

Oh, to be sure that there are many that share my outrage but they grow tired of being screamed down by the "tolerant" liberals.

Seems to me, unless you are an Episcopalian, your "outrage" would be better aimed at something you disagree with in your own denomination. I'm sure the Episcopalians can work this out without outside distractions. If the end result is a split, so be it. Christianity has many denominations. There is one for everyone. If yours shares your outrage, fine. If not, I respectfully suggest you find one that better fits your beliefs. Not all Christians believe the way you do. If you don't like that, I'm sorry, but there really isn't much you can do about it.
