that's what I thought at first too - that the people who got hoppers and food were the ones who chose WDW instead of a refund. But if you notice on the 11/30 cruise board there are cruisers that got both the 1/2 price off a future cruise, their cash back and the food/hoppers/resort paid for this past week.

AHHHH>>>SHE"S BACKKKKKK!!!!!!!

*********

Listen ,girlfiend, the CASH customers got a trip back because they paid CASH. They also were "comped" for the big inconvienience by getting a half price sale for a future cruise. Your $8k is a downpayment for 40 years of vacations. I have never been a fan of DVC,and i guess you can understand why. You can never predict what life is going to hand you...DVC is a gamble that the next 40 years will be a bed of roses...your first try at DVC proves otherwise.A big lesson learned...wouldn't you say?

This thinking can be applied to everything in life:

Did you notice how some kids get all their expenses paid for in college by mommy and daddy, but other students have to pay their way?

Did you notice how some people who make the same amount of money as you do drive nicer cars?

Did you notice that some people win more contests than you do?

Crap happens. Crap happens to everyone. The best thing to do is either chalk it up as an experience learned or sell your DVC to the highest bidder and eat the loss.

EROS, my friend, you hit the nail on the head. The essence of one's character is truly how one copes with the unexpected.

Life is what you make it, IGTD. I would LOVE to be at WDW this time of year with all the Christmas decorations. I hope you can find the joy of the season you seem to be missing today.

Two men looked out from prison bars
One saw mud, the other saw stars......

yyou know, i have to say something. I understand IGTD was disappointed by the fact that the cruise was cancelled.

but she got to go to WDW instead, and she's going on another cruise at half price.

one has to wonder what she'd do if something REALLY ruined her vacation.

four years ago, I went to WDW with my two dd's and my 3 sisters. the very first day we got there, my younger dd became ill while we were in the lobby of Dixie Landings waiting for our room to become available. we had to cancel all our plans for the rest of the day, waiting for the doctor to pay a "hotel call". we also had to miss our breakfast in the castle the next morning. turns out my dd had strep throat. she was able to have fun the rest of the trip, but she couldn't swim for the rest of the vacation. a real "downer" but we made the best of it, enjoyed the vacation at a slightly different pace.

and that was NOTHING compared to what some others have had to deal with at WDW. last year a woman with two smalll kids came home from WDW and told this board that her young husband and died suddenly and unexpectedly AT THEIR HOTEL IN WDW!

Barbara, I know having a change of plans was upsetting. but a lot of us can't go to WDW this year. at lot of us would have loved to have been in your shoes. think about it.

I remember that.... I felt so sad for that woman and her family.:( :( :(

IGTD, if the only thing that you have to worry about is this problem, then I would say that you are extremely fortunate. It's time to look at the big picture....

Yes we did just join last year. I was hoping to have an impressive first experience. However, that was not to happen. And yes we are in this for the long haul - until 2042. If you dont call that lifelong DVCer I dont know what you would

Someone who joined in 91 or 92.
Having an impressive first experience is NOT up to Disney, it is up to YOU!!!!!

I think IGTD is upset cause hubby did not get to wear the "big boy pants".

IMGD:
This is not a tragedy!!!!!! However, you 16 gazillion posts are.

Geez! Did your son and DH have a good time at all, or was the whole vacation ruined because you were crying about the ship in the lobby, no free food, being victimized for not paying cash, etc., etc.?

I hope they had a good time, at least. If that's possible...

I just posted something similar on another thread.. and I'll say it hear too. .

While I can certainly sympathize with the exaperation a lot of people feel with this situation and poster, I think the point has made, and we're veering into the teritory of over-kill. . and doing exactly what she has done, which is not letting a subject go . .

If someone feels the need to further comment on this, pleae avoid the personal attacks. .

Thanks. .
