Whatever you spent on your DVC membership has nothing to do with what you are entitled to regarding the cruise cancellation. You really need to quit worrying about what anyone else got. What you got was fair and you don't know the details of anyone else's situation. I think you just want to stomp your little feet and have a fit and you're doing it.
 
I am so sorry about the cancellation.

Our 1999 trip to WDW wasn't much fun. It rained every single day! We did get to swim for 15 minutes one day in between showers. It was the year of the fires and WDW gave firemen free passes and discounted rooms and we thought crowds were horrible:mad:

That trip costs us about $6000! But, we just put it behind us. We had no control over what happened and neither did anyone else.

Somethings you just have to get over. I could have let it ruin our WDW experience, but in 2000, we had our BEST trip ever!!!

I agree that the best thing you can do is take a DIS break. If seeing people happy planning vacations makes you sad because yours was not what you wanted to be.

I had tried to help give you advice in the past that you can't micromanage every part of your vacation. You wouldn't take it then, but I hope you'll take it now.

Yes, it was very diappointing that the cruise was cancelled, but it was more than just you - many many people were disappointed.

It was your choice to book a WDW vacation. Many others on your cruise choose to go on the Wonder and then a few days at Disney.

It was your choice to book the vacation using DVC points. I'm a loyal DVC member since Jan. 2000 and have used points to cruise as well, but when if it had been cancelled and I got all my points back and 50% off an upcoming cruise I'd be very grateful for that compensation. We are paying cash to go down the end of this week to see the Christmas decorations because we are using our points for the DVC member cruise in Feb. The best part of DVC points is you have control over how you use them.

I have to say that I think you are being way too dramatic to expect Guest Services to take down any mention of the cruise because it made you upset. A cancelled cruise is an inconvenience - nothing more.

In May of 1997 I was planning a trip to WDW with my DH and my Mother. That trip had to be cancelled because she was diagnossed with lung cancer and was dead 6 months later. That cancellation was a tragedy. You have a healthy son and husband you were able to share WDW with - you should be very grateful for that.

Take a look at many of the other posts here on the Community Board. Many have lost loved ones, lost their jobs, or are just having a hard time making ends meet. When you compare your situation to theirs I think in pales in comparrison.

I'm glad to see that there have been some positive things that came out of your vacation and would encourage you to focus on those and not the bad.

Since you went to WDW this year why don't you think over your plans for next October where you are going to Wilderness Lodge and think about doing your 1/2 cruise then. Any points you have left can be banked into a future year.

As Ranatra said - vacation is what you make it.

Here's hoping you can let the anger go, let the good memories remain and plan a new magical vacation.

Its funny after some people suggested she look on the postive side she did make three other posts with postive things to say about her trip she hasn't made anymore post on this one but as Eros would say the hang them high crowd just keep posting on this one but hasn't replyed to her other threads.

You are obviously confused as to what the 'hang em high' club is. It certainly has NOTHING to do with anybody telling IGTD to get over it!!! She had a choice, she made her choice, is she going to whine about it forever? I do believe I saw old Eros himself on this thread basically saying the same thing "life is short'. Now we know that he's not a member of the HeH Club. I would suggest you get a little history lesson if you wanna start tossing around phrases you don't understand.

I'm sorry you had such a horrible experience. It's never fun when something you've planned for so long and met with such anticipation goes awry.

It probably would have been for the best if you rescheduled your flight and rebooked the cruise. However, hindsight is always 20/20.

I do have to say that you are very fortunate to be able to afford DVC and the trips in the first place. In this economy, there are lots of people that would love to go on any vacation. Myself included.
So you weren't able to go on the cruise. YEah, that's a disappointment I'm sure. But to constantly come here and complain about it is kind of a slap in the face to those of us who can't go on vacation and would take anything Disney gave in order to go on one.

Well you can relax now. It seems I remember agreeing with you over something last January, but you're probably right, it may have been longer than that.

I still don't understand how cash customers were treated better. From what I've read, the people that received resort stays and food vouchers were the ones who chose not to receive a refund. They paid for an all-inclusive vacation and that's what they got. Do you really think you deserve a free WDW trip, all your points back and a 1/2 price cruise? Get real.

But if you notice on the 11/30 cruise board there are cruisers that got both the 1/2 price off a future cruise, their cash back and the food/hoppers/resort paid for this past week.
