I See...Celebrity People (at WDW)

Like Goofynme, we saw Tom Lehman at the Polynesian. He was having breakfast with his family in the concierge lounge. There was at least one other golfer there but I couldn't figure out who he was. And I think his caddy and family were there too.

Aa few years ago, I was getting breakfast in Sugar Loaf at the GF. I heard this voice and knew it but couldn't place it. Looked up and it was Bob Arnot(sp?), a reporter for NBC. He was helping his kids get breakfast.

So, do all famous people get a cm assigned to them and get access to rides without waiting in line? Just curious?

We have seen the Candlelight Processional narrators at the Boardwalk (John Tesh, Jim Caveziel). We've seen numerous athletes around the ESPN club and the hosts of College Gameday. But the best we've ever seen...... take a look!!!

GASP!!! I was reading....yeah...ok....nice...cute story....but when I got to your post you could hear me gasp all the way downstairs!!! How cool is that?! Roy Disney! WOW!

Well, I certainly can't top that. But my DD, mom, and DH met Gary Sinise last Christmas in World Showcase. I was busy having a migraine on a nearby brick wall, but if it wasn't for my head keeping us back after Illuminations ended they wouldn't have met him at all. Oh, well.

:cool1: Many years back (probably 15 or so)we were eating in a small room at the 50's Prime Time Cafe, and who should come in and sit next to us but John Schneider and his lovely wife.We spoke to him for a few minutes, and he was very friendly.Got his autograph, pix, and etc.He certainly made our day,and is ,indeed,a very nice celeb!Wish they were all so nice! :cheer2:
Kirsten in Nova Scotia :cloud9:

We were having dinner about 5 years ago in the California Grill and this man was commenting on how well behaved my son was. He was talking to him while I was ordering and when I turned to thank him for his compliment I saw it was Ben Vereen(sp)! He was very nice and very down to earth.

If they want it. I assume they have to pay for the VIP service unless they are there for a business reason, like a speaker at the Candlelight Processional or a part in the Christmas Parade.

Like some others, we saw Colin M from "Who's Line is it Anyway?" in May 2004. He was strolling through the United Kingdom shops while we sat and ate our fish & chips.

We also saw Michael Jackson at Downtown Disney in April 2001. We were actually walking in front of him and his entourage when a castmember asked us to step aside for a large group. And there he was surrounded by children with their parents following behind.

We have also seen Rod Stewart at Downtown Disney in Disneyland. That was in 2002 or 2003.

This has been such a fun thread to read!

On our last trip we saw Donny Osmond and his lovely wife and three handsome sons. Wanted to go up and say hi, but really didn't want to bother them on their family vacation. It certainly was a thrill for me and my sister in law.

This is a fun thread! I'm normally terrible at spotting anyone (mostly because I don't care) and am burdened w/a husband who recognizes everyone(and I mean everyone from local news people to senators and such) . I usually still don't believe him even after he has pointed someone out. So I was delighted when I recognized someone all by myself when we were at MGM in 2000. I was very pregnant so I took the chicken exit at Rock N Roller Coaster and as I was walking through I saw a Disney VIP Guide so I thought lets see if I can recognize the celebrity (I can pick a VIP guide from a great distance and know if you spot one usually someone well connected is nearby never helps but I do know this) Anyway it was Drew Carey. I was so tickled I recognized him as he did not have his trademark glasses on. He got on the car after my husband so when my hubby came off I told him about it and made him wait to prove I was right.

My only other celebrity spotting was Christoper Reeve. That was kind of cool. It was during some McDonald's childrens event and my sister saw the VIP guide and noticed Christopher Reeve (not I didn't actually spot myself someone else pointed him out to me.) That was really cool and my kind of "celebrity" He really lived with alot of courage.

Thanks for all the great posts to this thread. I had no idea there were so many observant DVC members out there. I'll end my stories with two more sightings and the one that got away.

MGM studios, early 90s, the hey-dey of Disney owned TV show Home Improvement. Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Zachary Ty Bryan (sp), the two older siblings on the show, were doing an autograph signing and there were tv cameras around with the hosts of that old Disney Channel show Disney Inside/Out. The guys were being thronged by hundreds of teen and pre-teen girls.

We love to eat at the Cape May Cafe at Y&B Club. Lots of celebs stay there, too. As we arrived at the main entrance, Jeff Goldblum exited. We continued on through and nobody in my party paid much attention to the short dark complected man that exited about 2 minutes behind Mr. Goldblum. He was well-built, carrying a beautiful daughter and followed by a beautiful wife. Since he had probably just finished filming Jerry McGuire a few months before, he was really ripped and I almost knocked him over. Of course it was Cuba Gooding, Jr., and I was the only one to notice him.

But the one that got away...I'm a HUGE Star Wars fan (I own every adult Star Wars novel ever published, as well as trivia king). Tina, my wife, (but then just my girlfriend) and I decided not to join her family for dinner at 1500 Park Fare at the GF. We wanted to see a parade at the MK, instead. Seated right beside the family with his two daughters was none other than George Lucas ( in a man crush sort of way). My family said hello, did not intrude and ask for an autograph, but told him about me. He was gracious and sent along a greeting.

Well, the parade was nice, anyway.

We saw a semi-celeb (at least at my house) when we were at the Mickey's VMCP this past year. Greg Raymer, who had just won the 2004 World Series of Poker was there. One of those quick glimpse kinda things where I walked away and then turned and looked back and verified. I love the Texas hold'em shows and have seen his face many times, but realize most of you would have no idea. lol

:cool1: Stevie Wonder...a couple of years ago, my oldest daughter and I were coming off of Dinosaur at AK to do the parent trade off with my wife and youngest daugher. He and several people were being escorted onto the ride from the exit. It happened so fast all we were able to do is watch. No photos or autographs, just the joy of telling my wife who we just saw.

Two or three years ago we took our DD (4 or 5 yo back then) to MGM's Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground and saw Paul Simon and Edie Brickel with their kids.

About 2 years ago I was standing in line behind a gentleman at the Tusker House in AK and started up a conversation with him... something about the weather. He looked familiar to me, but I couldn't quite place him. Afterward, my DH said that he was Wayne Brady. I almost kicked myself since we are huge fans of Whose Line is it Anyway. Go figure. He was very nice.

My celebrity sighting is kind of lame, but... One day I was standing on Main Street USA and noticed some cameras and a crowd walking down the street. It was Pat Sajak and Vanna White filming a promo for WOF.

That is lame! Just kidding! :sunny:

This doesn't really count as an actual sighting but while we were reading this tread my DH said "Do you remember when we were at MGM for the grand opening of Rock 'n' Roller coaster, they had the motor car parade with Aerosmith and that woman pushed her son out in front of the car that Steven Tyler was riding in so she could get a picture?" You read right!! As the car that Steven Tyler was riding in approached the area where we were watching the procession , a woman not far from us grabbed her son (he looked to be about 4 or 5 YO) by the arm walked out into the street and pushed her son in front of the MOVING car, stepped back a few steps and snapped a picture. I've never seen so many CM's move so quickly to get the poor boy and his mother out of harms way. It's truly amazing what some people will do for a picture with a celebrity.

I saw Tom Bosley, the father from "Happy Days" eating at the tables outside of the Micro-Brewery on the Boardwalk a few years ago. He was involved in a convention at the Swan/Boardwalk.

:scared1:  :scared1:

Some people should have to get a license to have kids!

I have had the pleasure of checking in to OKW behind Tommy Lee Jones. It was at Christmas a few years back and he was extending his stay. I thought I recognizd him but he seemed too short. when he walked out the CM at the membership desk flipped ot and was on the phone. I had to go over and verify htat it was him. She said yes, it was and that he had been at the resort for over a week now.

I also saw Gary Sinise, it is a holiday ritual to see him do the CP, but my sis and I ran into him at the enterance to Boardwalk while we were waiting for my car to get pulled up. He just walked in, nobody realy noticed or bothered him.

I know I have seen more celebs than this but I can't think of who right now....
