When did they change that? Someone posted just a month or so ago, that they got the difference between the two gate prices, even though they had been told differently on this board.
And we often buy our tickets from GE employee plan, and they only have up to 5 day with no pluses (I said 6 before, but I actually went and looked this time). Our charge to upgrade, has always just the difference between the two gate prices. We have never been penalized for buying at a discount.
Sometimes people get CM's who will handle it that way when they are upgrading to extra days (like a 5 day PHP to a 7 day PHP) but they are the exception rather than the rule. What were you upgrading to?
We also got our AP's at the DS in the airport. We discussed upgrading to the AP with pluses (that was a year ago) and the price quoted was again the diff between the two gate prices. Is this something new?
No, in this case it's easy. Only Disney sells AP's and PAP's. They are the same price no matter where you buy them (WDW gate, TDS, CRO, airport, etc) even if you used a DC discount. So the cost to upgrade between the two is constant. It's the difference in price between them. There are no variable factors.
Have you more recently tried this Gail? Has anyone? We'll be trading in a 5 day on our next trip, and want to know for sure, if this has changed.
Just like all things Disney, it will depend on who you get doing the transaction. But you can count on this: when you upgrade a ticket bought at a discount from an outside source (like your GE plan or a ticket wholesaler) and you want to upgrade to a Disney-only ticket like an AP/PAP, you will not get credit for the gate price in doing the upgrade.
