It was pretty cool. It's similar to Spider-man, though it's a lot grittier.

There's some cool in-jokes for fans of the comic. Also it tends to be a lot like Frank Miller's stint on the comic (Frank Miller was the artist/writer that was a lot of the influence for the 1989 Batman movie).

Some of Bullseye's lines were kind lame, but the character more than makes up for it IMO.

The first part is back story, which can be expected given the circumstances, but it doesn't really drag.

Overall I'd give it about a B+ or B.

I would expect gritty from Daredevil, and the previews looked quite a bit like the Miller years. I'm hoping to see it this weekend.

Hey, as long as it's closer to the first Batman movie and far away from the one with George Clooney, I'm happy. :)

Jeff, have you ever read League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? A movie version of that is coming out this year.

Yeah thankfully it's not really goofy.

I've read a few issues of LOEG & liked it. I've heard some early busy about the flick & it's been said that the translation from book to film really didn't work. I hope it really isn't the case, though I'm sure I'll see it regardless.

My 5 y/o is a huge super-hero fan and wants to see this. He saw Spider-man. Is this similar? Can a 5 y/o handle it?

Thanks!

It's a lot more intense than Spider-man. The main villian, Bullseye uses projectiles as throwing daggers. I'd be apprehensive in letting a 5yo see it as I believe it's PG-13.

I think The Hulk (which comes out in June) would probably be a better option.

I wouldn't say a straight up "no", but I would certainly watch the movie first or get the opinion of a friend with kids the same age.

I guess the best guage would be if you'd be okay with him seeing the 1989 Batman movie.

How's Jennifer Garner in this movie, Jeff? I really like her and she's the main reason I'd see it, because I can live without Ben Affleck... Ugh...

I also like Michael Clarke Duncan. Was he the villain? Thanks for the review!

Jennifer Garner is pretty cool & she's in it for a long time. Her character is extremely skilled in the martial arts.

Michael Clarke Duncan plays the Kingpin & he's a villian.

Okay, I saw Daredevil this afternoon. Definitely darker that Spider-Man, in tone as well as actual lighting. A pretty faithful adaptation of the comic book, especially of Miller stint.

My main criticism is that it was pretty dark, lighting-wise, and it could have used more of a musical score rather than rely on heavy rock music for everything.

Ben Affleck did a very good job in the role (I read that he was a big fan of the comic when he was younger), as did Jennifer Garner as Elektra. Michael Clarke Duncan plays the Kingpin, the chief villain, and was great but Colin Farrell definitely stole the show as Bullseye, and the guy that played Daredevil's law firm partner Foggy was great!

One of the better comic book adaptations Hollywood has done. I liked it and will be getting it on DVD. I wouldn't recommend it for a 5 year old, though; 12 or 13, maybe.

Jeff, can you PM me if you stayed after the credits? I overheard someone say there was something after the credits ran, but I missed it.

Yeah I think it was well worth the $8...even though I saw it for free :teeth:

Obi, I did & there's a PM in your box :)

I forgot to ask about Colin Ferrell! He's one of my new faves!

I guess I've got to go now! The Spiderman angle might convince Michael to go, too! He isn't that much interested in going, but I'll let hjm read this thread and I think he'll change his mind.

I loved it….I saw it opening weekend with my 11 yo. (wanted to see if it would be ok for my 5 yo) We saw it again this weekend with my 5 yo and my wife. My 5 yo loved Spiderman so much I wanted him to see Daredevil. Yes I would say it was a little like Spiderman and dark like Batman. My 5 yo liked it he did say that it wasn’t as funny as Spiderman. (interesting)

I really liked all of the actors/characters…DD, Electra (honey), Bullseye and Kingpin.

The only movies I have seen multiple times are, Spiderman 3 times and Daredevil 2 times. (I can’t wait for the Hulk and X2)

PS – I didn’t stay for the ending credits the first time I saw DD but I did stay for the credits the second time. Only because I dropped my popcorn and wanted to clean it up a bit. Glad I did.

Hello Jeff & Charlie!

SSB saw last week, and also enjoyed quite a bit. Also a big "Frank Miller" fan ... even have a couple of his signed "The Dark Knight Returns" hardbacks... that was a great one! The heyday of the evolution of comic books. Also a big "Watchmen" fan (same era)

Sorry to say that I did not stay through end credits (too many beers at the Beer Theater) ... may have to go back to catch... haha!

:)
