I rented points, now what?

We own DVC, but used all of our points for this year so we rented (for the first time) for 4 nights during F&W. I have our reservation # and confirmation that it was booked, so can I call and check on the reservation myself or can only the owner check? I would just like to make sure it's still there before I show up! Also, can I get all the DVC perks with my membership card, even if I'm not staying on my own contract?
And I haven't stayed current on the new info with fast pass plus, so not sure if this is even relevant... but if they're still testing random reservations and ours is chosen, or if it's available for everyone by then, will I be able to make the reservations myself or do I have to contact the owner?

MS will not confirm the reservation since they were not your points that made the reservation. If you are a US resident and the reservation is for a WDW DVC Resort, you can link the reservation to: MyDisneyExperience. FastPass+ is not in use yet and there is no word as to when it will be. If it does become available, you would be able to schedule your own times.

Since you have a valid dvc member id card, you are entitled to all member benefits.

you don't own THAT reservation, so you'd need to contact that DVC owner.

you can look up the reservation online. you just can't do anything to it.

if you've got your membership card, i'd expect you can.

(i have no idea about how the new RFID stuff works...)

Technically, you are not a DVC member for this trip. You can't pool hop, you can't go to the TOTWL, but you can use the anytime DVC perks like shopping and dining perks. Just not the ones that require a DVC stay.

If you had transferred points into your contract, the reservation would have been yours. Since you just rented a reservation from another member, the reservation is theirs.
 

Thanks for the info. Good to know I can at least see the reservation. If I ever am in this situation again I'll have to look into transferring... This was a little too anxiety provoking for me! Thanks again!

it's actually quite simple once the reservation is on My Disney Experience:).
a close friend booked the first night (SV studio, BWV) of our vacation on her points (balance of vacation is BW view, my points).
i was able to set up magical express, online check-in, and had the option of room requests on MDE. when i called MS to make a dining reservation for that one night, it was added onto MDE.

of course, she needed to add the 1 night of DDP (wanted it as TIW isn't valid on fantasmic packages).
as said, certain "perks" require staying on your own points (including transferred in), as a DVC member.

easy peasy though :goodvibes
 
I tried to add it but it asked for both the reservation number and the phone number... I tried both the owner's phone number and my ph, neither worked. Is there another place that I can just put the reservation number in just to make sure the reservation is still there?

I've never had to enter a phone number to link a resort reservation, I only had to enter the confirmation number and last name.

Dining reservations require confirmation number and phone number.

it shouldn't be asking for a phone for a resort reservation...

try again...also, check the original confirmation for a name misspelling.
fyi, confirmation numbers are case sensitive.
