hi all,
last night to say the least was off the hook.It all started at around 8 pm,nyc time.3 fire trucks and 3 fdny ambulances were involved in motor vechile accidents.so all together there were a total of 6 seperate dept. vechile crashes.all are ok,so thats what counts.3 seperate people jumped off local bridges in the area in suicide attempts.at least 9 people got shot.4 people got run over and died and 1 physco took his 13 month old hostage for 4 hours in his apt.there were 5 different 10-75's(1 alarm fire)and 3 (2 alarm fires) 1 carbon monoxide incident with co levels in one building thru the roof.forcing us to empty out the building and when we knocked on doors we got attiudes on how were not leaving and no one can force us to leave?? no problem ,we'll just wait for you to pass out and then it will be alot eaiser to get you to leave.and the doors that no one answered we knocked down, and when these people got home and found out FDNY knocked down thier door because of very fatally high levels of co,we got threaten with lawsuits. and last but not least,to honor the holiday sprit,a large, huge fist fight broke out at a local toys r us,with numorus people getting arressted and numorus ending up in the hospital from being assaulted.all over a line cutter and impatient people waiting on a big, long line.and this all happened in my coverage area.i could only imagine what tonight will bring.and not to worry i am fine,i figure i just share with you how busy it was.maybe i should call in sick tonight. :teeth:

Wow! That is insane! What a busy night!

It's amazing how the "Holiday Spirit" really brings out the best in people!

I'll bet those people who want to sue because you knocked in their doors would be the first ones to sue if you didn't!

It was pretty wild at the hospital last night with trauma calls coming in, though nothing compared to your night!

Warning: REALLY DEPRESSING

10pm- Food stuck in a "Lap Band" (gastric surgery for weight loss). We hit a bump, she threw up and felt like a million bucks. We cured her but we had to wash some seatbelts

3am (As santa snakes his way across the sky) a 2 for 1 deal (1 house, 2 transports) Sudden onset CHF which some Lasix helped considerably. Thank the lucky stars because next step was to intubate the poor lady. Rails were half way up at least. She was worried about her brother who was altered due to dehydration and diabetes. We transported both of them. They will both be "fine".

3pm Christmas day... Cardiac Arrest with the whole family present, after dinner of course

Hopefully thats it for the night although it's raining and people will be on the road shortly

Well, thank you to all in the protection as well as the medical field to be willing to work yesterday and today! Even though you have a lot of nuts, most of us really appreciate what you do!

My crappy call of Christmas Eve.....................

4 a.m. this morning, we go to a cardiac arrest/possible DOA call, no CPR in progress.

On scene, a 70 y.o. male, warm, but with rigor around his head/neck.

His wife said he went to bed about 12:30 a.m., complaining of chest pain, but decided it was not important enough to seek medical attention. 4 hours later, deceased.

It was really sad to walk through the house & see their Christmas tree with presents all around it waiting to be opened.

Bummer........................... :( :( :(

Something similar to this seems to happen every time I work Christmas Eve. Must be something in the water.................

Yep, mine was at 3pm though and the ENTIRE family was there because they had just finished dinner. There were kids toys all over the house that they had recently opened. I got home and cried. :(
