I had a few questions to ask about camping and then forgot them(shoulda wrote them down) but now I remember!

I want to start by saying I have NEVER camped at Disney. Never even thought to do so until my kids decided that they enjoy it(they never did before).
We are planning a trip probably for Sept. 2012...

We will probably be tenting it unless by some magical pixie dust an RV or even a pop-up should fall into our laps.

1) How are the showers?
2) Any tips on showering with little ones?(my youngest will be 1)

I don't think I will want to do the dining plan, but these thoughts crossed my mind:

1) Can you even get the dining plan if you are camping there?
2) If they do, Do they offer free dining for Fort Wilderness?
(I ask because usually when they offer it, its for either a "value" or "moderate" resort.)

Like I said I don't think I will want it because it will be more cost effective for my family to bring our own food and maybe pay for a few meals OOP. I was just wondering...

Any other info you can give me on camping will be very much appreciated!!!
TIA!!!:goodvibes

The showers are great. Nice, clean and hot. I recommend using shower shoes, like flip flops, instead of standing barefoot.

When my youngest was little I used an inflatable bath tub at our site. I put the bath tub on the picnic table at our site, heated the water and bathed him in the tub. It was convenient and mostly importantly, I didn't have to try to wash him and me at the same time.

I am used to wearing shower shoes!!! LOL we spend our summer on our sailboat and have shower facilities here...

Good idea with the inflatable bath tub....i have taken showers with my kids before when they were babies and holy cow are they slippery when wet...

I don't think they have Free Dining with the campsites. I was able to get the Dining Plan because I have an Annual Pass, and that was one of the specials. I have to say I ate very well on the Dining Plan, even with it being Quick Service.

Practice showering at home now. Try holding him in the shower now and by the time you get to WDW he'll be used to it. My girls are 4 & 2 and have been showering since they could start walking, since all campground bathrooms are showers. Thye basically take showers exclusively now at home and there are no problems when we are camping anywhere.

Pretty sure free dining has never been offered for the campsites for various reason. You can pay for the dining plan like any other resort. We paid for the plan a few times while camping at FW.

From time to time, free dining has been offered if staying in a Cabin at Ft Wilderness

I figured this was the case. Not that I mind...If I was staying at a value resort I would definitly do the DP(free or not). It was just a thought that crossed my mind.
