I remember when....

I agree stacker...memories are like seed........plant now and be rewarded later....

As many as our family has of the fort, my daughter still brings up the campin trip in michigan where a raccoon stole a whole bag of marshmellows off our picnic table as we watched in disbelief:eek:

... the trams that take you to the parking lots at the parks were used at Fort Wilderness instead of busses. The open air rides back to your loop at the end of a long hot summer day were marvelous!

I think these would be much nicer than the bus transportation they use currently. We had friends who camped in FW when this was the means of transportation. However, by the time we stayed the busses were in use. I would have preferred the trams. I think that would be a nice way to see the campground as well. I guess it would have been hot in the summer months..and I've heard they did not accomodate the disabled..but I wish it was an option. Too bad.

Yea, the trams were really nice, I miss those suckers. Not the same driving through the parks parking lots in one of those, view isn't as nice...lol

I liked the trams too. The one thing I remember about them though is they are a lot noisier than the busses. If you're relaxing outside, sleeping in a tent or in a Pop Up it can be annoying. Remeber they start running at 6:00AM and don't stop until 2:00AM.

My mom reminded me the other night that when we stayed at FW in the 70's it cost $8 for the night. Terribly expensive in those days of camping, Dad only let us stay there one night.
