We came down to FL early to meet my brother and his whole family (wife, daughters & husbands, & the grandkids) at Bonnet Creek at the end of September. They stayed in a drop-dead spectacular 4 BR, 4 bathroom suite. He got us a gorgeous 1BR, pool view, villa in the Presidential tower with them. Both villas were very high end, with lots of granite and beautiful decor, certainly more upscale than the BWV, but it just wasn't the same as staying on property.

With the BWV, we walk to both Epcot and DHS, so convenient. Our seasonal pass doesn't include parking, so that was $14 a day that we never have to pay staying onsite. No EMH for us and we are early risers, so by the time the parks opened, there were already plenty of people there.

Don't get me wrong, we had a great time, Bonnet Creek is a beautiful complex and we did not have one problem (except for the timeshare pitch harrassment, three times in five days when we told them we weren't interested from the beginning). I never turn down an opportunity to go to or meet up with someone at Disney World, so we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again if the occasion presented itself, but I sure missed my BWV.

Does anybody else find that offsite accommodations leave just a little bit to be desired, no matter how beautiful? When you stay offsite for any reason, what do you miss most about your DVC?

Yes we hear this often. My husband's co worker owns a condo in Celebration. She rents to friends and they often comment how in-Disney it feels. I've heard great things about Bonnet Creek. We don't rent a car when we travel to DVC resorts. That is a saved expense. We like the total emersion feel. Some conveniences are just worth it. That's why we have no desire to stay offsite unless it's at Vero Beach!

BWV Dreamin...Have you ever stayed at Vero? We are going for the first time in Feb. for three nights. I've read the entire Vero thread and it sounds so nice even though we won't be there in beach weather.

I'm completely with you all as far as BWV goes. Yes, maybe you can find a nicer classier hotel off site, but I just love being on the Boardwalk especially during the evening activities. BWV is my first love. And Vero is just lovely. Admittedly not a lot to do for adults (some call it Zero Beach), but three nights is just about right to walk the beach and enjoy the pool. Go to Captain Hiram's or Mulligan's Beach House (skip the Green Cabin). If you do have children, they have activities that will make them very happy! Storytelling around the fire pit, pool parties, etc. My husband just won bubble stuff for answering a Disney trivia question correctly while we were at the pool :lmao:

Yes I have and we love it!! I'll post you a trip report from 2008. We went also in October 2009! Love love Vero! Ok here's the link to my trip report. It has lots of photos. :wizard:

We've stayed offsite several times before our DVC purchase, and it is NOT the same, no matter how nice the accomodations. There is just something about the Disney feeling that is inherent in their properties that no amount of money or amenities can buy.
