to me the fun is in the game and the frosting on the cake is winning, but..... that is just me.

Hear hear! Well said! Thank you for reminding us all that this is, after all, just a game (honest, guys. It really is! )

I sometimes fall out with the game, but it's mainly because of bad sports, rather than "bad" players (I probably fall into the latter category myself! ).

You'll probably never hear anyone talk that way about players in Mansion, or on this board either. What you do hear is about people quitting games. Which is completely different than calling them a "bad player" outright and basically to their virtual face. Thank goodness I do have Mansion and Fireworks to play. I would be broke if that's all I had was Pirates.

I'm not a good Pirate player at all. I admit that. How am I ever supposed to learn how to play this game, or get to the point that I would actually enjoy to play that mini game, if I have to listen to and put up with comments such as yours? I absolutely dred the fact that vmk sometimes puts playing Pirates in some quests. But, I struggle through it, and lose a thousand times just to complete the quest. It's not fun being "beat up" by comments heard so very often in Pirates. It's a game people. There are real people, with real emotions on the other side of the screen.

I am simply awful and ppl get mad at me for not doing things, getting in the way, not catching ghosts right in front of me.....I'M TRYING!!! I have friends who have invited me to play and on occasion I do so that I can try to improve, but I feel exactly the same way as you to in pirates when I am in mansion. And let's not talk about quests when it comes to mansion.

There are "work arounds" in pirates. Your team can win for you. You can play against an AI. In ghosts, you have to do it straight or you're done when it comes to quests.

Those same comments you get in pirates, I have received in mansion. Followed by a player who quits on me, leaving me without a game. I believe they should put the same pay to play feature in ghosts as they have in pirates to avoid this.

Sad that VMK players in ANY mini-game feel the need to be rude instead of helpful when playing with someone not as skilled as they are. I will welcome you on my boat anytime, Astro, quest or just for fun - yep, pirates for fun! hehe

I know how this feels when I started playing mansion and pirates ppl were like that. I've gotten pretty good in Mansion in pirates not good at all,I just play for quest but no one should insult any players just bc they aren't good as you are bc maybe someday you're in that position when you meet someone better then you and threw there eyes you're a really bad pirate or mansion player and you'll know how bad other players feel.

I really dont like it when your a good person at pirates, and you get stuck with a partner that is really bad, and they always lose. Then, you have to make it up for them, Plus, your doing all the work. Then, when you die and there left you know your gonna LOSE.

It really annoys me.

Maybe sometime you can try to offer the less experienced player(s) on either team "tips" during the game? It can help redirect the frustration.

I guess my little rant wasn't so much just for myself, but for others too, especially the kids. I can just brush it off, and just not play Pirates. But I think it truly does hurt a lot of players when they are bad-mouthed. I mean really, imagine if this person was to have read this rant, and knew they were playing the OP. They would probably feel pretty hurt.

I can't agree with you more on your frustrations with Mansion players and mine with Pirate players. I AM TRYING TOO! I hear you completely on that. I have run into a few bad sports in Mansion, but it just seems more so in Pirates to me personally is all. And, we're not quitters. The easy way out I guess is to just quit a game. But, I don't give up any credits that easily.

Thanks so much for your kind offer in welcoming me aboard your boat. It's very much appreciated. One of these days I will definitely take you up on your offer. Just so you know, the same offer stands with you, on Mansion with me, as well. I think you already know that.

I did also forget to mention that I do play a lot of "friendly pirate" games, when vmk does offer double days. The sad thing about that too, is most consider that cheating or not playing the game right. Guess you can't win either way. LOL!

Be nice to everyone, and not just those who are not as good as you.

Pirates is a game of strategy, and if one's strategy is to run away, then I don't believe it is necessary to call them a "baby", or any other insults, for that matter.

The game is so much funner if you say nice things, or don't say anything at all. Be the change in the world (or in this case, game) that you want to see.

I used to play pirates a lot but then I found Mansion to be more profitable because you don't lose all your points if you die. Mansion would be the best no doubt if they made the game lobby bigger because i never seem to be able to get in when I need credits.

Awesome post! Yes we rant, but also offer a solution. Complaining gets you nowhere unless you help to solve the problem. Try to think of ways to help those players who need that extra push. You learn from others, that is how they are supposed to learn too.

For Pirates people needing help:

The trick with pirates is to get the best angle you can with your ship and find the ship you are most comfortable with. Once you get the comfort level of manuevering, which is good against pirate ships even though they do tend to annoy easily, then try it with friends first. Then test your waters but be patient.

For Mansion people needing help:

Do NOT over click your mouse. Click once and direct. Practice that and then clicking control to catch ghosts will be simple. I find alot of people over click and are in a stop and go mode. Also, rock the box (shaking the coffin) helps to bring out ghosts. It gives you something to do when you turn into a ghost yourself.

Just some tips to try if your stuggling and good luck.

For mansion, I recommend not even using the mouse. I can catch over 100 ghosts per game using the arrow kets instead, I am terrible with the mouse and it rarely does exactly what you want it to
