I read somewhere that Tusker House is closing

Has there been on official reason for the closing-rehab or redesign? Is the idea of a character meal there an official word or just speculation?

I LOVE Pizzafari! I don't eat the pizza though, LOL. Their Italian sandwich is delicious. We've also had the Chicken Parm sandwich and it was good too. We didn't really care for Flame Tree, though it seems most people love it. We thought the sandwich was dry, even with the BBQ sauce added, and other than the sauce had no flavor, and the ribs were tough. The beans tasted weird and the corn was just, eh. The BBQ sauce has a good flavor though. Someday I'll try it again, but not in September. It's too hot and humid to eat outside then.

We were planning two days at AK in September, one meal at Pizzafari, one at Tusker. Now we'll just do Pizzafari twice. I've been wanting to try the Chicken Caesar salad, so I guess now is my chance. I always want to try it, but am not willing to give up my Italian sandwich to do it, LOL.

Tusker House will be closed from 8/20 to 11/16.

Darn it! We will be there 11/3-11/10. I'm so disappointed!

A try,good food and to right go down steps for some great seating that is nice quiet and great view.I f you want sit down make ADR for Rain Forest Cafe. Danny

Sorry, but we really disliked Flame Tree and DH loves BBQ. Everything was just horrible when we ate there. We actually split meals at both Flame Tree and Tusker House and Tusker House was much, much better. I agree that it leaves you will little options if Tusker is closed - we have also eaten at Pizzafari (good personal pizzas) and Restaurantosaurus (McDonalds). I guess we would choose Pizzafari if Tusker was closed.

Dangit... We liked Tusker House, AND it was indoors with A/C! Flame Tree in August just won't be acceptable no matter how good the food is, and Pizzafari just doesn't even sound good in the heat. That leaves what? McDonalds and Restaurantasaurus? Grrrrr.... That is VERY annoying to this vacationer.

I think we will choose to leave at noon and eat our CS lunch at POR instead that day, take a break and come back around 3pm til close.

Tusker House is our favorite restaurant at AK. It is so nice to be able to have a healthy meal for a CS--real vegetables! My DH and I love the salmon and my DD loves the rotisserie chicken. We had the Tusker House listed on our CS meals for our Free Dining extravaganza 9/1 - 9/8.
Most CS restaurants are not very diabetic friendly unless you want to go for a salad.
Sigh.
Time to re-do some plans.

That's too bad. We had planned to visit Kusafiri bakery as we always do in October. I guess we will have to get breakfast elsewhere before we hit the park that day.

This may not be a popular response, however I wish Tusker House was closing for good. The food and service was 100% horrible and it was the worst meal I ever had in WDW. Just incase better put my flame suit on.

I haven't tried Tusker House yet, but the last trip we went on the Flame Tree had REALLY gone downhill in quality. I used to love it, but the last meal there was just BAD. (flame suit on and ready!!)
