Here is what I leanred

I ran a Quest room today until a little while ago. I gave out 47 People Mover Pins. The quest closed twice when I was out of prizes. I didn't realize that you can't add or change anything once it starts and you have to test it all over again after you add more prizes. I had no idea if people would want to do it or if the prize was what they wanted.

As soon as I opened it I was swamped and I stayed that way almost the entire time with is dragging off at the end of the night.

When you change anything even adding more prizes it clears it out like it's a new quest and it means that people that already did it can do it again. I wish VMK would change that. Once we name it unless we change the name all the setting should stay the same even if we have to add something.

You also only get notified of the top scores there is no list of anyone else that does the quest or how long it takes them.

At the end tonight I messed up somehow with it having 2 more prize spots without anything in them so once the actual prizes were taken I had to close the quest. I had been doing it for more than 6 hours today and I was pretty glad to see it end :teeth:

I used hot keys the second time for the things I had to say over and over that helped a lot but I was shocked at how demanding people were. For every nice person there were at least two complaining or just pretty much asking for answer after answer. I said the same thing over and over. A lot of people didn't want to think much to figure out a clue.

I got 97 requests for friends. That is a record for me!

I made the mistake of doing what I thoughts was an fun clue for snowman magic and not really thinking that a lot of people didn't have it. I loaned mine 17 times with only one person taking it and running. I happen to have a lot of snowman so I didn't mind and the one person who stole it didn't take anything away form the 16 other nice honest people.

All in all it was a lot of fun, frustrating at times and really demanding in how many people had questions and they really demanded answers from everything like where did I get my Stitch hat to what is the answer for a task.

The quest itself is so easy to do I was surprised. VMK really did a nice job with it's addition and the only thing I could change is what I said at the top. We should be able to add more prizes if it is going well and once it is over if we run it again adding more prizes, it should keep the same settings for fastest person and not letting people repeat.

Thanks for the report Lisa.
I have been holding off building one until I had time to babysit it (which might be never -- 6 hours???)

It does amaze me the rudeness of many people. And to think -- a lot of them are kids? Makes me kind of sad. :sad2:

I am working on a quest and plan on using VMKs tip on having them Leave the room soon after the quest starts (I want them in the room for the first two or three things to keep my room on the pop list.. (at least this is my thinking, make the first three in the room, and on the easy side, then send them on thier mary way. lol

I did not know you have to redo the quest when you add the prizes, I did know about having to change the name so I add or take away an 's' at the end.

I am working on a quest now and I am finding it difficult to get around the vocabulary but I am working on it. The mulitple choice question task is where I run into the most problems.

Did you put a time limit on how long the quest ran?

Did you give a prize to everyone that finished or just the top fastest times?

I am setting my quest with a time limit so that it won't go on too long. Were most able to finish the quest?

I am testing the quest as I add tasks, about every three tasks, I run a test. Then I edit. It takes a lot of time but it seems worth it.

Did you add any mini games? I hear of a lot complaints about being able to play some of the mini games so I am hestitate to add it.

Do you get info as to how many are doing your quest when it is opened? How many tasks did you put in your quest?

Sorry for all the questions but I am just curious.

When I am finished, I would love it if some of you would be so kind as to do a test run for me. I want to give out fireworks magic as the top prize with credits as well, so I don't want it to be too easy of a quest but I don't want it too difficult either.

I didn't. the thing that I disliked the most about the VMK quest was the time limit. The clock kept running even if I got disconnected.

I gave a special prize for first each time and then the same prize for everyone that finished.

There is no way to tell who started and who finished all you see are the fastest times. Very few people came back to tell me they finished. I knew because the prizes would decrease.

You have to test it before you can run the quest and even adding more prizes meant I had to run through it all over again.

I didn't have any games added. I am so bad at them I just could not in good conscience make someone else suffer through a game like I did.

Do you get info as to how many are doing your quest when it is opened? How many tasks did you put in your quest?

I had 18 tasks the most time consuming were finding I put in a few easy things and a few very difficult. I have no info how many people started the quest. There is no way to tell really.

When I am finished, I would love it if some of you would be so kind as to do a test run for me. I want to give out fireworks magic as the top prize with credits as well, so I don't want it to be too easy of a quest but I don't want it too difficult either.[/QUOTE]

That was what I worried about. I wanted people to enjoy doing it but it could not be too easy or I would run out of prizes too fast. I am really happy with the balance of how it worked. One person did it in 13 minutes and I know it was her first time because she was the first ever to do it. Most seemed to be in the half hour to an hour range from the little information I got from VMK.

how did i miss it?! i was searching all day for quests lol

It was at the top of the popular list for a while yesterday right under the Tomorrowland Help room. I know that I never pay attention to the rooms in red, I don't like waiting.
