I posted this over on the SW/DC board, but I'm impatient . . .

You guys reply faster ;)

Is 5 hours enough time to spend at Sea World? It's just a thought, for our last day, right now. Am I totally insane  , or could we have fun in that amount of time?

Bad person to ask...
I could take Sea World or leave it. Sorry SW fans!

What if I want to do thrill rides and see a couple shows?

I would plan on a day! When we went we would go in the morning, and not be done until about 5pm!

There is SO much to do and see there. If you are crunched for time just pick and choose what you want to do. For example, do the rides, the Shamu show and the dolphin petting exhibit.

Thanks :) That sounds like a plan, I'll have to see if it's doable. Do you have any idea where I can find Sea World touring plans?

You can certainly have a lot of fun in that time at SW, whether it's an economic use of park tickets is a different point. If you know you're going to go back to Orlando at some time in the future I'd save the park for the next trip and make use of the 2nd day free so you get two days entertainment for you $55 as opposed to half a day JMHO.

If you do decide to give it a go you should get to SW at opening time (or before) then you shouldn't have too many queues at Kraken and JTA ( the two thrill rides), from there I would try to take in one Shamu show and if not both one of the Whale and dolphin show or The Clyde and Seamore show ( Clyde and Seamore would be my preference if you can only do one). Wild Arctic tends to get busy AFTER a Shamu show so best to time it 45-60 minutes before the show. If there's a long queue for the simulator ride that's part of Wild Arctic I would suggest checking out the "walk option" that bypasses the simulator. It's pretty good fun , but if you're on a time budget it's a part that can be missed. The animal part of Wild Arctic is really fun.

The penguins can be done pretty quickly, the manatees take a little more time as they have a film show with it (IMHO the manatees is an important part of the conservation message the parks trying to put over, but if you're short on time it's probably best to skip it), the sharks can be time consuming if people are dawdling so that's another one that you may prefer to miss. Feeding the dolphins is a "must do" but you need to check out when the feed times are and be prepared to queue for the fish to feed to them. If you're going to the airport you may prefer to pass on the stingray feeding as you need to go up to the bicep into the fishy water (might leave you a little smelly for the plane journey home :earseek: LOL ) .

I find that generally on a last day, by the time one organises checking out the hotel, gets ready to leave etc there isn't as much time left as one expects. If you're ultra efficient it may be a possibility, but in my experience rushed last days never work that well.

You can have fun if you realize that you are only going to see a few things. Ride the 2 thrill rides first if that is what you want to do esp., then go see a show & after that, anything else you can squeeze in is gravy.

However the admission cost of riding 2 rides and getting in 2 shows is a little over top. But if you are not worried about "getting your money's worth", then go for it.

You are in luck...

If you'd like, I can mail you a SW park map.. We were there 2 weeks ago and still have a couple left. If you are interested, you pm me with your address.

I just wanted to add that if you have kids, they will enjoy playing in Shamu's Harbor. When we were there two weeks ago, Journey to Atlantis wasn't operating, but Kraken was.

My daughter loves the pet show....it's a pretty nice show to go to!

Thanks for all the replies. I'm still debating, but it's nice to have some opinions.

Ok, another question. Of US, IOA, SW, which would we be most likely to get the most done at in 5 hours assuming we have express plus passes for US and IOA?
