I-Pod just suddenly stopped working...

Hi there! kids are home on a snow day today, and my son just yelled out of his room that his Ipod Nano 8gb suddenly stopped working. I thought maybe it just needed to be recharged, but even when plugged into the charger, when the screen usually lights up ---- nothing. dead as a doornail. has anyone else had this happen? any tips you can offer? The unit is just under a year old and is very well taken care of. Meanwhile, I'm going to dig up the book that came w/ it and the warranty --- maybe we'll get lucky.

Have you paid Napster for the month? Thats what happened to me! My ipod came with a month of Napster free, so I downloaded about 500 songs, then all of the sudden, nothing would play. It was then I realized that yeah, the first month was free, but after that, if I wanted to listen to any of the songs, I would have to pay monthly. My ipod is now living in the draw. So sad.

If it is just under a year old get it sent in to Apple for service ASAP while it is still under warranty.

Thanks guys. Went to troubleshooting on the Apple website.
It said toggle the hold/off button, then press center and Menu together for 6-10 seconds until the apple icon appears on the screen. That worked. BUT: I think wvjules has the right idea... He got it for xmas last year so time's a ticking!!!!

Aww, rats. I was gonna tell you the same exact thing. I had that happen to me recently and friend told me about that fix. BOY was I relieved!

Yeah, I've had to "reset" mine a few times that way too.

We have had many Ipods, and we've had to reset all of them at some point or another. It's really not all that unusual.

This happened to my new 16g 5th generation Nano a week after I bought it. I FREAKED, but DH and a coworker told me about that reset feature, and it worked.
