DH had i-pod video, DD has and i-pod nano. I know nothing about i-pods.... :guilty: We told DD she could have one thing for Christmas this year (we are going to WDW so that is the BIG gift) both DD and DH would like some kind of boombox that they can plug there i-pods into so they can use them in the house. Anyone know of a good one? I looked on the Apple website but didnt see anything great but of course I really don't know what I am looking for. I know they want something they can use and move around the house. DD wants to be able to use it in her room and in the TV room when friends come etc. Anyone have one? Thanks

I just got one through AmEx Membership Rewards, so I did not do a lot of shopping around. It is from Bose. It puts out an excellent sound.

Three inserts are included to fit all different iPods. The same insert is used for both iPod photo and iPod mini. For the mini, it is not a tight fit, so if we bumped the unit hard, the mini might fall out. So I would make sure the unit you buy has the right inserts for all the different iPods you have. The inserts can be switched out, so what ever iPod you want to use in it, you can.

This unit also comes with a remote. The remote only has the ability to change the volume, skip forward or back songs, and pause the music. There is not the capability to change albums. So make sure you look at the remote of the unit to do what you want it to do.

To change the album, you can either take the iPod out of the unit, change the album, then put it back in. Or you can change the album while it is in the unit, although that is not that easy to use the click wheel. So that is another thing to look at.

And finally, this unit is not really designed to move from locations, as there is no handle. If that is important to you, make sure there is a handle.

After a lot of research I bought the Altec IM7. It is excellent quality, has a remote and adapters for various size Ipods. It runs on batteries or plug-in.
This thing rocks the house, but is rather heavy. It was about $200 at Best Buy. Apple has a boombox which gets great reviews, but it is about $350!
There are a lot of Ipod accesories out there, so be sure you actually listen to some of them before you buy. I heard some that looked cool, but didn't sound good at all. :)

If you are a Costco member they have some great deals on these things. We bought our girls two of them last year for Christmas. One is a boombox sort and the other is an alarm clock/radio for thier bedroom.

You mean an I-Home?

I am not sure of the question. The one I have is an iHome. Here is the site:

:goodvibes I think the Bose system sounded the best but I couldn't make myself spend the money on it. Just buying the ipod felt like a big enough investment :goodvibes I ended up buying an FM transmitter and routing it through my existing stereo. That only cost $30 and I prefer the sound on my own stereo to the $60 ipod box I bought.

I got the Bose Sound Dock as a Bday present the sound is great the only down fall is there is no input jacks so the iPod is the only thing it works with.

That being said from low volume to room shaking its crystal clear.

I bought hubby one on sale at overstrock last week for 12.xx.. It was 49.99. Its sounds great.
