I am visiting WDW for 7 nights in early December. The cast includes myself, my 10-year-old daughter and my younger (only by a few years) sister, who is a WDW first-timer.

I have been booked for a standard room, rack rate at the same resort since December 06. I called to book CSR and decided that I wanted something nicer, more Christmassy and better tasting food, so I booked the Wilderness Lodge. I was excited about the Lodge because I have heard it is the best in December.

Today, that crazy ol' Visa discount came out, but it could not be applied to the WL. She had several options available (Beach Club, Yacht Club and Boardwalk). I chose the Beach Club simply because the rate was the best and the savings were something I could justify spending at the holidays.

So now I am going back-and-forth in my mind, wondering if I made a mistake? :upsidedow

:scratchinWill I still enjoy the Beach Club over the Wilderness Lodge being Chritmas and all?
:scratchinDid I make a mistake by surrendering my room and booking another resort?
:scratchinIs the size of the room and daybed at the Beach Club going to make a big enough difference to make me feel good about the choice I made?

What would you have done?

We love the BC and if you like EPCOT you will enjoy the location. I am sure the decorations at the BC, YC, and BWI will make up for missing the WL. You can always schedule dinner there if you like. Don't forget about all the wonderful Christmas activities at EPCOT. I don't think you made a mistake. The room will be bigger at BC, the pool is better if it makes a difference in Dec. and you will be within a boat ride or walk to two parks with additional entertainment at the Boardwalk. Sounds good to me!

Thanks Samsma! I am sure I will love the resort.

We are still going to dine at the Whispering Canyon Cafe. I will see the Lodge then. Hopefully I do not regret it once I walk in there and see it. - bites nails -

I will be sure to check out all of the EPCOT resorts decorations.

What discount is this?

IMO the WL would be a nicer place to stay during the holidays. However, the larger rooms at the BC would be nice too. :wizard:

I would agree that the WL would have the more "holiday" feeling because of the awesome theming and lobby, but Disney at Holiday time really can't be beat. Having the boardwalk would be cool too...

I did consider the Boardwalk, but it was $600 more and that money should be be spent on some nice souvenirs to bring home to the family for Christmas. :)

WOW!! You got BEACH CLUB?? Cheaper than WL?? :cool1:

I think there is always that "what if" like a "buyers remorse syndrome"

IMHO, you cant compare apples to oranges... 1. its DISNEY!!! 2. ITS the HOLIDAY season!! :cool1: :woohoo:

BC has that awesome pool slide, its really fun to be close to EPCOT!! This may be a once in a lifetime deal!! or you may feel so spoiled you may investigate owning a DVC!!!

Certainly WL is charming - we stayed there after reading all the positive reports, we ate at WCC - but it still just a room in DISNEY!!! :woohoo:

ENJOY -

like I tell dd... be happy with what you have - stop being sad about what you DONT have!!

No I meant having the Boardwalk to stroll and sightsee on/at would be cool, the boardwalk is a nice place to hang out...The hotel is nice too.

I respectfully have to disagree. Wait until you walk into the BC and smell the decorations before you even see them! BC at Christmas is my favorite place on earth :cloud9: I agreed to stay at BWV this Christmas for DH, but you can be sure that I'll make my way over to BC

One other suggestion is when you go to WL for dinner, take some time to ride the monorail around to the other resorts. GF is pretty incredible too! :santa:

We most certainly intend to do this. First night actually, after we eat at the Grand Flordian Cafe.
