I Planned and God Laughed **NEW Pre-TR Link!!! p.13**

I'm in!

Great report so far. You seem to REALLY enjoy Epcot. I don't know how some people can just go to one park their entire trip, wouldn't work for me, but that's just me. I love all the pictures of the Flower and Garden Festival you got. I love looking at all the topiaries. We luckily went during that time frame on my first trip and I got pictures in front of them, it was awesome. And I must make a note about La Hacienda since I love the Counter Service connected to it. Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

Great TR so far!! My DBF and I are huge fans of Epcot as well, I love your Flower and Garden Festival pics! How sweet of you to surprise your mom with the resort/CL stay! I love staying right by the International Gateway too, how fun is it to walk into Epcot from your room?

Can't wait to read more :goodvibes

great update!!!! Soarin is so nuts! It's like each park as a ride that is crazy nuts! For once I'd like to go to a park and not go to the crazy ride and just relax haha..someday maybe.

Just found your trip report and read all the way through it. Sounds like great fun and I can't wait to read more. Love all the pictures and I can't wait to go next week - looking forward to seeing all the flowers and topiaries!

About your original post - don't get discouraged it will happen, just in God's time! I was 28 before I met my husband and I had given up on ever finding someone. He is my best friend and I can't imagine my life without him. We haven't decided if we are going to have kids but are thinking about it - he is 15 yrs old than me but we are happy. It will happen for you and I can't wait to read about it when it does on the disboards!!!

More trip report please - can't wait!

Welcome! :goodvibes Thanks for joining in the fun. And thanks for you kind words...I seem to be "over it" now. I'm okay until people close to me have life changing moments like weddings and babies, then I'm a mess.

Welcome! :goodvibes I do really love Epcot, but we also did not have park hoppers for this trip. Epcot was the first park we went to, so it just seems like Epcot is our only focus. Stick around, DHS, MK and DTD are coming up later in the trip! :thumbsup2

Welcome! :goodvibes I actually took some restraint this year with the flower pics. Last year we went up just for one night because we had an extra ticket and I took about 100 pics just of topiaries and flowers! :scared1:

great update!!!! Soarin is so nuts! It's like each park as a ride that is crazy nuts! For once I'd like to go to a park and not go to the crazy ride and just relax haha..someday maybe.

This trip was sort of relaxed and I still felt anxious and rushed to fit everything in! I think I need to go for, like 2 weeks, so I can see everything and not feel like I have to do it all in one day. Like that would ever happen :laughing: 4 nights was pushing it for us this time!

I really love all the pictures. Can't wait to read more.

What gorgeous shots you took! I can't wait to hear your review of lunchpopcorn::

Thanks! I don't have a fancy camera or pretend I'm a fancy photographer but I do try to get interesting shot...and I HATE having people in my scenery pictures :laughing: A real challenge when at a place like WDW. Lunch is coming up!

I really love all the pictures. Can't wait to read more.

Thanks! More is coming...

I'm SO sorry it has been this long in between updates - I hope you all are still interested. We are still at Epcot, but I promise after this update I will be venturing outside of this park. I'm not quite sure what was going on this past week, I wasn't any more busy than usual, but I guess I just wasn't in the mood to DIS. I do have some exciting news that took a lot of planning and had me on the phone A LOT yesterday...

I'm going to Alaska!!! Of course, it is not until 14 months from now but I'm still going and the trip is booked, minus the airfare. It is a trip I will be taking with my mom, brother, sister in law, niece and nephew to celebrate my mom's retirement. This was her dream and retirement "wish" to see Alaska so that's what we are going to do! We are doing what is called a "cruisetour" - 3 nights on land in Alaska, sort of like an excorted tour than a 7 night cruise that ends in Vancouver. We will also probably stay an extra night or two in Vancouver since we've heard it is beautiful there as well.

I have also booked 1 night at Disney's Vero Beach Resort (about an hour from where I live) for the weekend of my Birthday in May! I had been hearing a lot about Vero and have always wanted to stay at this resort so my mom and I are combining the two. I'm planning on lots of shopping!

So, I do have an update for you down below, so without further ado, back to the report!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last I left you, we were walking towards Italy for lunch, while I was taking more flower and scenery pictures. Our ADR at Via Napoli was for 11:30 and we arrived about 11:20, but people were already checking in so we did the same.
*That lady in the pink top looking at the menu is my mom! I may have taken this pic the night before :rolleyes1
We were seated shortly after the restaurant opened and promptly greeted by Giovanni (whose name I remember only because I have a student with the same name). We had pretty much decided what we were going to get prior to sitting down (okay prior to even arriving in Orlando), but we browsed the menu anyway just to make sure we didn’t miss anything. One thing my mom loves is Italian food. I can take it or leave it, depending on my mood, so she was just thrilled that she was getting her Italian fix. We ordered:
Fritto de Verdura - crisp fried vegetables (okra, zuchini, eggplant), marinara piccante
House Salad - leaf lettuces, roasted red peppers, marinated mushrooms, olives, peperonicini, red wine vinaigrette
Individual Pizza - with eggplant topping (roasted, not breaded and fried)
YUM!!!!
But before I mention how delicious it all was, let me tell you that the complimentary bread with olive oil, our fried veggies and salad were all delivered to our teeny-tiny 2-top table about 10 minutes after ordering. We’re happily eating all our goodies and not 5 minutes later, our pizza arrived! Now I am not one to have an issue with quick service, but we weren’t even half-way through our appetizers! We aren’t too picky, but the pizza was definitely on the cool side by the time I was ready to have a slice.
But all that aside, YUM!!!!! Another satisfying, delicious meal in WS. This would be another place I would return to without hesitation – but I would tell them to slow their roll next time.
We don’t normally order dessert at these restaurants so we can get a snack later somewhere else, but these were calling our name:
Zeppole di Ricotta - Ricotta cheese fritters, served with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. I think of them is Italian donut balls.
Apparently, now is the time that they decided to slow down the service. When our mini donut balls finally arrived, it took a good 15 minutes to get our bill taken care of. But it happens. It was getting more crowded by this time so that is probably more typical. Either way, we left stuffed, happy and satisfied!
Then, my mom was on a mission to buy my cousin a gift so all the way back to future world we went to visit the Flower and Garden Welcome Center. My mom had been eyeing this Tinkerbell glass birdbath for awhile but wanted to make sure they didn’t have anything else she liked better. Turns out they didn’t so she bought the birdbath she was eyeing for my cousin (and her) garden/backyard:
I had to get the pic online since I didn’t see the actual thing at her house yet and forgot to take a picture in the store. We had it shipped back to the resort as well. Then we had to ride Spaceship Earth, another one of my favorite rides – I also really like the new addition at the end. And I took some more Flower pics. Yes there was actual a flower left that I had not photographed. This was our first time seeing the entrance of Epcot and all of those topiaries!
Lotso did smell like strawberries!
Buy this point, we had seen everything we wanted to see, plus we knew we'd be back for dinner...
So all the way back to the International Gateway and a short walk back to the BC, we were in our room, ready to hit the lazy river again!
Up Next: Wrong Way Laps and Do we actually make it back to Epcot?
Yeah Shannon I'm all caught up. I don't mind your flower pictures at all because I love going to the Flower and Garden festival. I have been twice (the last time being April 10). I think I took a lot of pictures of the flowers too. :lovestruc
So glad you're booked for Alaska, that's a dream of DH, he's a fisherman so he's going for the salmon, me I'm going for the beauty.
I hope you do a little TR for the Vero Beach trip, always wanted to go there too.
Yay for all of the trips!!!!
I can't wait to hear about Vero and then I'll get to go!!!!
Your food at Italy sounds good! I'm very picky when it comes to pizza and sauce..yucky! I'll have to try it sometime though!
Ohhh an Alaskan cruise...pure delight in my mind! You must spend a few days in Vancouver, it is a beautiful city!
We loved Via Napoli too....I think next trip I'm going to try the pizza...sounds so yummy and so does that dessert you had!
I love the birdbath your mom got:thumbsup2
Great Update! So looking forward to a dining review. I've had some food at Epcot in Italy it was fantastic but it was on Italy Isola so I need to figure out where it came from. Definitely need to check out Via Napoli since I've taken some new interest into pasta dishes (Yum!) I love your pictures of the Flower and Garden Festival, especially the Lotso one :). And to top it all off you add in about Spaceship Earth one of my favs and its an obscure ride. I think on my first trip it was one ride that I went on the most. My mom, my sister and I would get off, send the postcard and run on AGAIN! It was awesome. Definitely glad to see someone else appreciates this new version. :goodvibes Can't wait to hear about more of your adventures in Epcot (and hopefully other places LOL)!
And just out of curiosity, I also noticed that you said your birthday is in May. My birthday's in May too :) What day? And I hope you have fun on your cruise next year!
Hi Shannon! I am loving your trip report - sounds like you just had the best most relaxing trip. I am rather jealous of your club level upgrade. I considered it but its just out of our budget. I bet your mom was just over the top thrilled (after she finished rolling her eyes at you:rotfl:)
Your photos of the F&G are great. I love the butterfly on Pooh's cheek. I am looking forward to the butterfly house with Katie.
and WHERE did your mom find that Tinkerbell bird bath? :love: Oh I have envy now!!!
Hope the job issue clears up for you. sounds like your wednesday teacher has something going on making her so miserable. only a few more wednesday, right?
Which cruise line are you taking for Alaska? I was just looking at Alaska cruises for next June - its 20 years for DH. I got numbers for the new Disney cruise out of NYC but DH seemed to think that for that much $ we could just go to WDW. Don't know what we are doing but its gonna be fun!
Hi! I am just joining in on your TR! I have enjoyed it so far. We were at the Flower and Garden Festival this year too and I think about 1/2 of the pictures I took on our whole trip were from our one day there.
Your resort sounds wonderful! How fun to walk in the International Gateway in the morning!
I am glad to hear that you enjoyed both of the new WS eateries. I had heard some bad reviews of Via Napoli, but you made it sound really good. Hopefully we will get there eventually.
We were going to eat at that restaurant, but it was to crowded for us. Glad to hear the food was good, maybe we will try it next time.
What fun, that you're going to Alaska! It's certainly onl our list of "trips we'd like to make one day". :goodvibes
I love the pictures of the topiaries that you shared! I have never really wanted to go during the garden festivals, but now that I see how beautiful Epcto is (my fave park at WDW) I might have to set up a trip in the spring next year!
Alaska sounds so exciting!!!!!
I know! Too bad I have to wait 434 days :laughing:
Glad you're back. Great update!
Thanks! :goodvibes
I wasn't uber-excited about Alaska, but its my mom's trip, not mine. But...now that I am doing research, I am really excited. It looks amazing - and completely different than Florida :laughing:
Who knows? I will probably still be working on this bad boy so if I am I will definitely post a review and some pics of Vero Beach!
Yay for all of the trips!!!!
I can't wait to hear about Vero and then I'll get to go!!!!
Your food at Italy sounds good! I'm very picky when it comes to pizza and sauce..yucky! I'll have to try it sometime though!
I love having trips and fun places to look forward to! I don't like pizza with tons of sauce and I also don't like tons of sauce on my pasta either, but the I :lovestruc the marinara at VN. I wanted to dip my crust in the leftover from our appetizers but they took it away :mad: The pizza was similar to Dean Anthony's if you have one of those up by you.
Ohhh an Alaskan cruise...pure delight in my mind! You must spend a few days in Vancouver, it is a beautiful city!
We loved Via Napoli too....I think next trip I'm going to try the pizza...sounds so yummy and so does that dessert you had!
Any tips you could give us as far as hotels, attractions, restaurants? We haven't even thought about that part of the trip yet but I'm thinking we will only be staying for like 2 nights (2 full days).
I loved the old Spaceship Earth, but this new addition makes the ride down a little more fun (and lessens my anxiety that the cars will come off the track and I will come crashing down the tracks :rolleyes1
My birthday is May 26th - always around Memorial Day so I always get a 3-day weekend!
They sold that birdbath everywhere, especially at Epcot! I actually think they sell it year round too. They do have it on the Disney merch website as well.
We are going with Princess Cruise Line. We've sailed with them before and really like it, plus they are known for their Alaska touring. Disney cruises are much more expensive than typical cruises, no matter where they go. But I still want to do one someday.
I heard bad things about VN too, but I have no complaints and would glady eat there again! I've come to realize that the reviews here are hit or miss - and then there are people that find fault with everything.
We were going to eat at that restaurant, but it was to crowded for us. Glad to hear the food was good, maybe we will try it next time.
It was crowded when we were there as well, especially as we left.
What fun, that you're going to Alaska! It's certainly onl our list of "trips we'd like to make one day". :goodvibes
Ireland was our first "must do Wish" trip, and Alaska was number 2 as far as the biggies. The topiaries really are amazing and beautiful, but we didn't do any of the special seminars. It must be a gardener's dream!
