I Planned and God Laughed **NEW Pre-TR Link!!! p.13**

Love yor Boardwalk resort pics. I checked into the Yacht Club on Wed. 30th. I have now stayed at all 3 and the BC is definitely the best. The YC was so quiet, and it felt like no one was staying there. My sisters loved the walk to Epcot too.

Did you take any pics of your room and the club room?

Shannon, I am finally caught up on everything and I must say I LOVE all of the photos you have taken and the resorts were awesome. I have NEVER even seen the EPCOT resorts, so for me, that was a huge treat. I am sorry to see that your DHS day was so rainy; however, it sounds as if you are making the best of rain at Disney!!! Good for you! LOVED that you had ice cream for dinner!! :goodvibes YUMMY!!!

UGGGGH, we were at DHS that morning too! It was hilarious because right when they let us onto Hollywood Boulevard this one woman said "it's pouring!" when it was still just drizzling at that point. I wonder what she thought of the rest of the day...that rain was crazy, we were walking (or should I say squishing) around in our soaking wet shoes and socks!

On the bright side...we got to use the stairs at TSM for parties of 2, too. It is pretty awesome they have that. :thumbsup2

Your boardwalk photos are great!

Did I mention being a little jealous of your club level? the hor's douvres and drinks sound awesome.

boo to rain!

Aww sorry for the rain. Hope your dinner was nice, can't wait to hear about that!

Rain all day, it's suppose to rain a little then stop. Good thing you had plan B.

I've yet to stay at YC...

I didn't take any pics of the room or lounge but it looks identical to the pics on the allears site

Take your time - I'm not going anywhere!

...in my 20 years of going to Disney, I can't even remember having a day like that one.

Thanks! Club Level definitely has its perks but its not something I would do every trip.

Bummer about all the rain. I hope your day was brighter after you got back to your hotel.

We shall see...:rolleyes1

Gotta have my plans  This was definitely not your quick summer afternoon shower..

Hi!

Just caught up on your trip report! Love Mom/Daughter trips .so fun and memorable.

Beach Club is my fav hotel on property..the past two trips I stayed at the grand and blt and I will not be switching resorts for a while now..beach club imo has the best of everything.

I thought your swan/dolphin quote was funny about people not being able to tell the difference. :rotfl: I find those two hotels to be such eyesores by the boardwalk doesnt fit the theme at all

Me neither, and we had to deal with two of them. Hopefully never again...I don't think I can take it!

Hi Shannon! I just found your TR and I am enjoying it! Winston is adorable and your mom's dog is quite a character as well. They both pose so well for the camera! lol
Ice cream for dinner!! I did that last night! I will probably do something like that on our next trip, it is a small thing but fun!!
Congrats on the Alaska trip!! That will be the trip of a lifetime. Can't wait to hear more!!

sorry about the rain ughhh!!!!!!!

At least you found something to keep you busy :) We always loved that when we stayed at WL and had bad weather because we felt that it was money worth spent since we had a huge lobby and lots to explore on a rainy day rather than sitting in a small hotel room!

I agree, BC is in a great location and has lots to offer, but I did really enjoy my stays at the Poly. I think on our next visit, if I can swing it, I will go back to the Poly!

We left for home just in time! But I'd rather have a rainy day at Disney than a sunny day at home!

Thanks! I certainly love my doodle-boy, and my mom's dog is special to me as well - plus they are characters! The problem I have with ice cream for dinner is that I still want "real" food after!

Yes, days like this made me glad I was at the hotel I was. One year, my mom, niece, nephew and I were trapped in our POR room for hours since we couldn't even leave the room without getting soaked!

Hi everyone,

Seems like a lot of you are pretty excited about my Alaska news so I thought I'd post our itinerary. Obviously, we haven't booked shore excursions yet or anything, but the places we are going to is a definite.

Day 1 - Fly into Anchorage, stay overnight
Day 2 - Bus to the cruise line's lodge/hotel near Mt. McKinley in the town(?) of Talkeetna
Day 3 - Off to their other lodge near Denali National Park
Day 4 - Denali Express Train from Denali down to Whittier to board our cruise ship!
Day 5 - Scenic cruising through Hubbard Glacier
Day 6 - Scenic cruising through Glacier Bay
Day 7 - on our own in Skagway
Day 8 - on our own in Juneau (think we will do some sort of whale watching cruise on this day)
Day 9 - on our own in Ketchikan
Day 10 - at sea, enjoying the view and the ship
Day 11 - arrive in Vancouver, B.C.
Day 11+ we will be staying a bit here on our own but still not sure how many nights. I'm guessing 2 but who knows?

I've been reading what sorts of shore excursions they offer, what is the best, etc but its so far off we can't book airfare or anything else yet. I'm such a planning freak, I already have an "Alaska binder" made for all my planning needs - and its already pretty full!

If anyone has been or knows someone who has been to Alaska (or Vancouver), please feel free to share your thoughts and opinions!

We would love to go on a Disney Alaska cruise, but the older kids just have no interest in this. They would rather go to WDW. It sounds so exciting can't wait to hear all about it.

Love the trip report, what a great surprise for your Mom.

We went on a cruise to Alaska last year. I did a lot of research on www.cruisecritic.com. If you haven't been on it yet it is a great resource. But a warning, they are not as nice as everyone here on the disboards!

In Juneau we took a whale tour with Harv & Marv, it was the highlight of our trip, www.harvandmarvs.com. In Skagway we rented a car and drove the Yukon highway, it was more exciting to the In-Laws than it was to the kids. We did see a couple of bears though. I am currently planning our RV trip to Denali for this summer. Talk about a lot of research.....

We aren't going through Disney this time, but I would LOVE to do a Disney cruise sometime!

Oh yes, I've been there! You couldn't be more right - definitely not as friendly and welcoming as the DIS. I have the same screenname there as here, fyi. One thread I saw asked about the best Alaska excursion and her first reply was "go do your research and then come back with more specifc questions". :scared1: I asked which ship was better (of 2 options) and was told to "search it myself". Nice, huh? But I have been getting lots of info just from reading. What cruiseline did you do? We are groing through Princess. We are thinking of the doing the train in Skagway along the Yukon highway (or whatever it is...)

Yea, they are not the kindest group. To plan our RV trip I have been on the forums at Trip Advisor and they are the opposite. They want your questions to be as detailed as possible and for everyone to start their own thread, so you never know.
We went with Royal Caribbean, simply because it fit our time frame the best. The kids enjoyed the food, mainly the ice cream.
My DSIL and DN took the train on the way up and biked on the way back. They really enjoyed that. We drove the highway so we were able to stop along the way. But it did make for a long day. Juneua was great for whale watching, we even saw one a little too close (the engine was off). You can book your excursions independently, and that will save some money. Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions.

I sure agree about some of the people on cruise critic. It's a shame that some rotten apples make the rest of the basket seem smelly too. Not everyone on there is rude though. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Sorry for barging in but I've kept your trip report on my favs but I've never posted on your report. You were asking people about Vancouver, Canada???? All i have to say is it's Beautiful... I have been there on two different occasions and if I didn't not move to AZ I would LOVE to go again.... the aquarium is just awesome and so is Stanley Park. If I can find pictures I will post them for you so you can check them out....
