I Phone or Droid?

The 4 things I learn about smart phones from what others say.....

1st off, Droid is a particular phone. Android is the OS and there are 568522113656 phones available running Android. There is only iPhone, though progressive models through the years.

2. Everyone I've talked to that has an Android phone says it is the one to get and they love theirs.

3. Everyone I've talked to that has an iPhone says it is the one to get and they love theirs.

4. Everyone I've talked to that previously had and Android phone and now has an iPhone says with entusiasm, "Get the iPhone!"

I have no experience myself though. I still have a $23.66/month for 3 phones service.

I've been an iPhone convert for one week now and I'm still in love with it, don't plan to ever go back to an Android!

I love my G2 Droid because it has an actual keyboard. I hate typing on the screen.

BIL just switched from a Droid to an I-Phone and turned it back in a week later. He hated it, said there was a lot more navigating buttons to get things to open, send, etc. I'm not sure what he exactly meant, but he's back to a droid and much happier.

Ugh, you guys with your smartphones make me feel all stone age. I have a five year old clamshell-style flip phone; when I lost the back off it I put transparent tape on to keep the battery dry!

That would be me...and the tape was on the old flip phone. The "new" one (probably 3 years old at this point) still has a back that stays on!

We're in the same boat- we're past due for an upgrade, and my friend (on Verizon) got a HTC Incredible phone which she loves.

However, now she's saying that when she gets a chance for an upgrade, she wants to get an iPhone!

DH is looking at the 4s, and even with our upgrade discount, it's looking like a $400 tab to switch phones.

Is it REALLY that expensive to switch phones???

Why so high, is he going for the one with the largest memory? We're on Sprint, longtime customers plus DH gets a 25% discount through work. I used his upgrade to switch, I went for the 32gb one, which I'm thinking now I probably didn't need, and it only cost me $299 plus the upgrade fee. The 16gb is $199.

We also get the discount on Sprint through work, and he is looking at the 32 gig phone. You know how guys are- the more memory, the better.

I went through a mock purchase, and the phone he wants would be the same price as yours. Regular price $750 minus $300 'instant' rebate, $150 upgrade/renewal incentive, which leaves us paying $300 roughly. And we'd need to upgrade our plan, because our plan is so old that it's not compatible with a 'smart' phone.

Which plan do you have, and what do you pay (if you don't mind my asking)?

I'm on the shared 1500 minutes between 4 phones, added the mobile hotspot on my phone ( I had this with the EVO and it works great, can run two iPads off it easily), had insurance on all phones and also an Airave because our signal at home gets interference from all of the rock around us. I was paying around $245 a month with taxes and all. I haven't seen the new bill with the iPhone but I already had unlimited data on all phones so that should not have changed. They will cancel your insurance as none of the phone carriers will cover iPhones. My dealer tried to dissuade me from getting AppleCare but I purchased it anyway, it is now covering screen breaks with a deductible, worth the peace of mind to me. That was $99 for two years coverage. I also purchased an Otter Box case as well. I went ahead and dumped $300 into my account even though it showed a 0 balance just so I don't freak out wen I see a$500+ phoen bill next month! I am seriously loving this phone though!

Granted we'd only have 2 phones instead of 4, but our current bill is just under $80 per month.
Maybe I'll just upgrade his (when I think we can afford it), but the plan would have to change either way if we go for it.

Maybe I should do a Droid instead of doing the iPhone. I can always make him trade......:lmao:

Weigh out what features you want from a smartphone
I had a droid incredible which I loved and I upgraded to an iPhone been in :cloud9: ever since!
2 things I miss from droid is navigation and Disney mobile app
DH is going through this process for about 6 months now and it's come down to which one can the font be changed we've looked at several droids and none of them has this feature but the iPhone does.
IMO iPhone has better apps plus I love FaceTime

Boy! It's a good thing that there's no rush on this- we've only been eligible to upgrade our phones since August of 2010.......

Just so you all know... Apple sets the price on iPhones. They are going to be the same everywhere.

AT&T and Sprint charge an upgrade fee in addition to price of phone. Verizon does not.

Android vs. iPhone? There are so many android phones that it's tough to make a head to head comparison. When you put a top of the line Moto Razor with 4g beside an iPhone, the Razor is gonna win.

One advantage Android phones have is the memory is expandable. No need to try and figure out what size you need. You just buy a larger memory card for an Android phone.
