I'm so excited, today my payment for our Dec. trip was paid in full! Our TA says we should be getting everything from Disney within the next two weeks and we will go over it all then. It is such a great feeling:bounce: .

Here's my question: Our travel agent said she would request a non-smoking, close to main building, third floor for me. She said she didn't think any of these requests would be a problem. I heard that if you book through a TA, then you can't fax WDW with your room requests. Is this true? Will my TA be able to get these things for me, without me faxing Disney a few days before. Thanks, I'm really confused on this issue.
 
I have booked both ways. What I do is to call the resort directly. I get put through to the room assigners. I ask them what it shows on my ressie. I've had a problem in the past, so I always double check with the resort. They have been very helpful. They tell me what their records show and is this correct. I don't fax them since I find it easier to talk to them in person. I do not demand anything. Remember, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar. (Not that any of you who may be CMs are flies!!!) This method has worked for me. Have a terrific trip.
 
I agree... just make a phone call and ask what's noted on your reservation. I do this, even though the only thing I really care about is a non-smoking room.

If you do have any requests, be sure to prioritize them before you call. Tell the CM your most important request first, then second most important, etc. It's important because the room assigner may not be able to match every request, and this way they can try to match your most important requests first.
 
Thanks for the response guys! When should I call do think? About a week before I go? I thought I heard if you book through a TA that you can't make a room request directly at your hotel ~ Is this false info? Will my TA be able to make these requests for me? Thanks!
 

My first trip I used a TA and didn't know anything about room requests, codes. Now that I do know (thank-you everyone!!!) I always call about 3 days in advance. I don't know about not being able if you have used a TA. I'm assuming that you have a confirmation number on your ressie. I would call, using that as your ref. point. If they say that you can't do this, then get on the phone to TA and tell them to do it.....now!!! My TA told me she would take care of my CRT ressie. She called about 2 days too late. She couldn't understand why she couldn't book it for me!!! I guess they don't always know best. But, give it a try first yourself and then ask your TA to call if you can't.
