I ordered the 2005 Unofficial Guide to WDW...

Hi Jen,

Yes, the search feature on Amazon doesn't seem to find the book directly. I can type in "sehlinger disney 2004" and get the '04 edition, but the same keywords with 2005 gets me nothing.

I've PM'd you the link to the '05 edition.

An alternate way to fing the book is to start with the '04 edition, then click on Bob's name to see all the other books he's written.

I've let Bob know about this, and I trust the folks at Wiley will contact Amazon tomorrow about it. Hopefully it'll be resolved soon.

Thanks very much,

Len

Oh, and if someone would like to post the UG review of Disboards.com here, I'm sure Bob wouldn't mind.

Len

Thanks for the links all. I ordered it and hope it is shipping soon (although Amazon shows it unavailable.)

I ordered mine from walmart.com yesterday. They were the cheapest around. I'm supposed to get it by next Wednesday.

I picked it up from the local BN store yesterday.

I haven't gotten to far in it, but there is one thing that I can across that I love! They have included a crowd level calendar that goes from Sept 04 thru Dec 05. It tells you how busy each day is using a scale from 1 to 10. :Pinkbounc

Sorry I couldn't give more info yet, hopefully someone else has gotten farther.

Len, thanks for all you and the others do in putting this book together.

I bought the UG for WDW for 2005 at B&N yesterday and got my shipping notification today. I also pre-ordered the Birnbaum DCL, DL and WDW guides for 2005 as well as the UG for DL for 2005. I got free shipping on all if I agreed they ship together. Since they have different publish dates, they are going to be shipped as they arrive. Cool! I also prefer B&N over Amazon because Amazon charges taxes for those of us in WA state and B&N does not. If you are wondering why a person would want all of these guides, we are booked on the August 2005 reposition cruise from CA to FL and are including short stays at DL before and WDW after. Got to have my planning books!

Thanks ValerieK!

The schedule ended up being pretty difficult to do. One of the requirements was that we had to recommend each park at least once in any seven-day window. (No one liked my idea of "It's never a bad day for Epcot.")

I think we ended up with more than twenty rules for all four parks, which I then programmed into an Excel macro to update a calendar. We're planning an online version of this calendar for the fall, into which we'll program updates as needed.

Be sure to check out the new research in the hotels section. That took months of work.

Thanks again,

Len

LOL I'm with you Len, I don't think there is ever a bad day for Epcot. I can't wait for my copy to arrive.

I'm an "Unofficial" fanatic! I buy it every year! I'll have to run off and buy it now! Can't wait to see the changes!

I got mine today, overnighted from B&N.

I have to say again that we had no idea it'd be published this soon. None of us has received a proof or promotional copy from Wiley. But I'm glad it's here. I'll have to sit down this weekend and read it.

Hey, we're the "Best Disney Discussion Boards" (UG 2005 p. 24)!!!!

"...Containing more than 60,000 members and 5 million postings, the discussion boards here are the most popular on the Web. Posting a question on any aspect of an upcoming trip is likely to get helpful repsonses from lots of folks who've been in the same situation. We love the interactive nature of these boards and often answer questions, post experimental touring plans, and solicit opinions on upcoming Unofficial Guide subjects."

Thanks Bob, Len and Co. -- Like most people, I love hearing the truth about myself! ;)

Perused the UG last night. Love the Jim Hill additions, and the crowd level calendar. It all looks great!

FYI: Map on p. 19 has "Dixie Landings" instead of POFQ. D'oh!

Thanks Mainebound. I'll see if we can fix that map.

Ironically, I had two quotes edited out of the 2005 edition, one of which was 'In the immortal words of H. Jay Simpson, "D`oh!"' I think it was a title to one of Jim Hill's pieces.

The other was the last sentence of the DISBoards review: "The community forums are a good place to discuss everything from diet tips to your latest scheme for getting David Lee Roth back in Van Halen." So my quest to mention Van Halen and get a Snoop Dogg quote in the Guide continues for at least one more year.

To those of you who now have 2004 and 2005...... Should I make due with the 2004 edition for my December 04 trip or is it extremely worth it buy 2005? I was hoping to use some of the touring plans. I really enjoy this book. I've read it through and sneak a glance at it every day during breakfast and lunch.

:scratchin

I bought mine at B&N on monday and it is terrific...the 2005 UG has a lot of additions. As someone said the calendar for projected crowd levels is very good..I am reading it cover to cover so not too far into it yet, but they have a section on overlooked things or Unhearlded Treasure whatever you want to call them. Mentioning things like the Statue of Roy Disney, Stave Church in Epcot, Mickeys Firehouse, Fiber Optic Sidewalks and Ewok Village...I saw BRAVO...The 2005 is a great edition with many more changes than the 2004 had. Keep up the good work in the 2006, with this many changes I say it is worth buying....:sunny:

I cheated last night and went to BN and flipped through it. As mentioned before, it's cheaper to order it from BN.com than to buy it off the shelf. I love the new informational cartoons at all the attractions. They were extremely interesting. All so, Bob's starting "skit" about the fat characters is lol funny. Lentesta, thanks for a great new book.

I would buy the 2005 edition. We are going in Sept. and Oct. I still haven't had a chance to finish it, I am only up to the dining section, but I think it is a lot better than last years.

I ordered mine today, and I can hardly wait to get it! UG is my absolute favorite guide book! ::yes::

I ordered mine today from Walmart.com.I browsed the other places listed here. But Walmart was the cheapest, they have really low shipping on books and they allow you to pay by check online if you do not have a credit card.

I probably have every edition from the last 10+ years and i will definitly buy this new '05 guide too, but i have a question.....

now that i've found *you* on this wonderful forum, is it really necessary? Seriously, does it cover anything that astoundingly new, or anything that won't be discussed here?

This board is the best! We had such super disney trips before from using the unofficial guides mostly, but i just wonder if they could have been even better??? Guess i'll find out next spring!

:)
