Well, I have been going round and round in my own mind for the past several weeks about what tickets to buy for our upcoming trip to WDW.

We have 1 day and 3 pluses left from our last trip and we will be in Orlando for 8 days. We like to go to the parks 4 days and to a water park 1 day and to take a break one day. We do not go to the parks on our arrival or departure days.

As I said, I have really been debating what tickets to buy. At first I was interested in plain 3 day hoppers. But I was unable to find them anywhere. Then I looked at the 3 day hopper pluses. I missed them at Ticketmania, and they were more than I thought was a good price through Central Florida Travel. (I can't remember exactly how much they were, but I thought that I could get a better value.)

Then I was really looking at the 5 day hopper pluses from Paramount for $238. That is $47.60 a day not including the pluses. I thought that was really pretty good.

THEN I was reading about the free breakfasts with the 6 and 7 day hoppers. Hummmm. I looked at the price of the 6 day hopper - was it $275? I don't recall. But then I looked at the price of the 7 day hopper pluses for $300. That works out to $42.86 a day. PLUS 4 pluses and a free breakfast - maybe even a CHARACTER breakfast! But should we really spend so much money when we didn't need the days for this trip.

Well, when it was posted this morning that the ticket prices were going up (Golden Oldie assured me that it is just for tickets purchased at the gates though) so I thought that I had better move and move now.

I went back over the figures and when I realized that if I would get the 7 day hopper pluses, that with the day that we have left, we would have enough THIS trip AND another trip AND we would get a meal paid for.

So that is what I bought on-line this afternoon - 7 day hoppers pluses. I am so glad the have this purchase made. Now all I have to do is watch for rental car prices to come down and to choose where we will go for the breakfast! :)

I have been keeping my eyes open for deals on our hotel room in December. That will be the deciding factor for me as to which tickets to purchase. I see that I have roughly 4 options.

#1. Use a room only code, if it becomes available, and buy the 7 day PHP for us to use only 5 of the days and 2 or 3 of the plus options. Allowing us to save the remaining days for a quicky trip sometime in the future, not necessarily next year. This is the scenario that I most want to see happen. Plus the breakfast voucher is a sweet bonus!

#2. A great AP rate gets applied to my room and we buy AP's that make for a bit of added pressure to take at least one if not more trips to FL next year. This would be ok, but I know that my honey really wants to go to Fan Fair in TN next year and that will be as expensive as any WDW vacation.

#3. The Fairytale Package gets extended and we buy into it.

#4. No codes work for Pop Century and we buy the 7 day PHP much like we would in option #1.

So, for now, I wait. Mickey

Congrats on your decision, Beth. Passes are so expensive! We bought the 7 day PHP a few months ago, and I was delighted with Paramount's service. Even with the mailing fee to Canada, it was a bargain (I had 6 tickets sent and the fee was $30  ) because we had the passes in hand in less than 72 hours. Wow! Because the adults haven't eaten at Breakfastosaurus, that's where we booked our breakfast! I can hardly wait!

Beth,

You did the right thing. No one has found anyone anywhere that can even equal the value that the Paramount 7 day PHP gives, let alone exceed it.

Personally I always like the feeling knowing that my next trip already has the park tickets paid for.

Enjoy your trip. :)

From all the researching I did, Paramount had the best prices. And now with rumors that the ticket prices are going up, you did the right thing!

Same here- I've already decided that even though we have 1 day left on our other passes and probably won't use 8 full days at the parks PLUS the 4 "plusses"- on this next trip- that this is what I'll be buying anyway. Any days left and/or pluses left can be used on another trip- and it's a great price plus the character breakfast!

However, now I'm scared.... are you saying the prices are going to go up with paramount soon??

I have been going over my pass options this week, too. Here's our story--

Trip is planned for "sometime" between 27 September and 11 October. We will be staying 8 nights. At this point I have it narrowed down to the 7 day PHP or Annual Passes. My boys want to do a water park at least once, and we will likely do at least one character breakfast.

Things that are factoring into my decsion right now are--
  • kids ages 2 of our kids start costing us more, LOL. Our daughter turns 3 in October 2004--definitely want to squeeze a trip in before then! Our middle DS turns 9 next year, as well.
timing if we go 3-11 October, the AP makes sense because I can plan our 2004 trip in late September, maybe sooner :) I would rather go 27 September-5 October because my daughter's birthday is October 1 :Pinkbounc
moneywe have plenty budgeted to cover either pass this trip. There is a chance that we may be paying tuition for our middle DS in the 2004 school year, making that trip budget a little tighter.

Ulitimately, I think that the 7 day pass is the better deal for us. I love the idea of the AP--the freedom to come and go, and that we can take another trip with them (we had APs in 2001, got 3 trips out of it). However, we'd have to pay extra for the water park and breakfast.....bumping up the price difference to roughly $400 more for the AP over the 7 day PHP. We can definitely get 2 trips out of the PHP....so what am I wondering about? LOL

does this make sense? am I rambling?

I bought the 7 Day PHP from Paramount for a trip in Sept. Of course AFTER I bought those passes, Disney announced the FTP package. I was going to try to book room only with any codes that were out and use the passes. Instead I decided to book the FTP for this trip and hold the PHP's for the next trip. At least I knoe I'll already have my passes and it might even get me back there sooner!:D
Although letting 6 PHP sit around after I spent the money just drives me crazy, I thought the FTP was too good to pass up at this time.

Hi JBrig! And WELCOME TO THE DIS!!! :)

Here is the web address for Paramount: www.paramountinternationaltravel.com
You can find their e-mail address and 1-888 number on the site.

Hope that this helps! :)

Wait a minute- your 9yr old next year shouldn't cost you more. Not until they are 10!!! So you might want to figure that in your decision either way. :)

And to the original poster of this thread- I have basically came to the same decision as you and I'm going to buy them tomorrow (earlier than I had planned) for the same reason as you. Even though I called and paramount said they had NO plans of raising their prices- I'm afraid any day now a memo will be sent out and prices will be raised. LOL I'm also looking forward to using the free breakfast vouchers for Breakfastosaurus since my family hasn't done that (I did on my solo trip and I know the kids will love it! And DH won't think it's "frou-frou" (sp?) as much as the princess breakfast we had last time -although I do hope to get Cinderella breakfast this time also for my youngest to be thrilled LOL). Anyway, I'm afraid they might just up and decide to stop giving those out free also!

We also have 1 day left on our last park hoppers PLUS I already have a PAP. And with my oldest, IF we end up being able to make the extra trip before our family November trip I would buy her an AP to be able to use for both trips- but I STILL plan on buying everyone but myself the 7 day park hoppers. Because of the price, the free breakfast and if I end up getting her a PAP to use on both trips- the 7 day park hopper ticket I bought her plus any extra days on all the tickets (plus the 1 day left on our park hoppers from the past) could all be used for yet ANOTHER trip- maybe next year sometime. :)

It's just too good of a deal to pass up- and with the tickets never expiring- even if they aren't all used it's an investment in a future trip at TODAY'S prices. Can't beat that. :)

I have a question. We are going for 3 days in Dec, then onto the Magic for a week. My dd is already taken care of - had 3 days left from a 7 day pass. I was considering buying a 7 day for dh and myself since the price is so good from Paramount, and true - you can't beat the free breakfast.

I know we would have 4 days left on the pass - my question is this.. I know Disney lets you upgrade their passes from year to year. We had 2 days left on a 7 day once and we were given credit when we upgraded that 2 day to another 7 day. Does Disney upgrade the Paramount tix too? If not, then our next trip I will be in the same predicament. Thanks.

Hi LOVETHATMOUSE!

You definately can do what you are suggesting without a problem. You will get 4/7ths of the price that you paid at Paramount.

Just a thought though. Why not use your leftover days on your hopper "as is?" If you don't, you have lost out on the days from Paramount that will cost you a about $43. If you buy your passes at WDW, you will definately pay more per day than that. Also, you will lose any "Pluses" that you have not used since they have no cash value on a ticket upgrade.

Good Luck! :)

Good deal Beth!! Our choice's are 7 day php from paramount or PAP's. If we get PAP's Im assured another trip beore the next 12 months! Maybe 2, lol. So thats what Im leaning toward. But I did buy the 7 day php for Dis Con. It was a breat buy and got a free breakfast at Bomas!
