I never thought I'd say this....

I'm one of the many that will be there from Nov 21-30. I can't believe I'm actually saying this....but I'm actually NOT looking forward to it! Here's why...

- Last year, we went during Halloween. The crowds were low, it was just the 4 of us, and it was fabulous!

- This year, we're going at Thanksgiving, and the crowds are going to be much worse. Plus, we're going with my BIL, SIL, and their DS. My BIL isn't really the "Disney" type, and my SIL is one of those whose mouth works before her brain does. I'm kinda worried that if something doesn't go the way they want, they'll blame ME for their "bad time".

Guess I need some major pixie dust??

Here is the positive:
The crowded park will work in your favor...You can " accidently loose the in-laws in the crowd. Your cell should be set to silent. OOOPS! We didn't hear the phone...so sorry. :lmao:

I kinda know how you feel. We have gone twice before. Once in May of 02 and once in Oct of 05. In Oct of 05 Hurricane Wilma hit and we were SO nervous about it and what would happen but in a way it was kind of good because the parks were actually dead. In fact we went to IOA on Halloween day and we walked on everything. NO waits at all. It was wonderful. We were in DW for 2 whole weeks and we went to MNSSHP and just had a wonderful time. We were also there for the food and wine festival and just had great weather, no crowds and a GREAT time. We started to see the beginning of the christmas decs and decided we wanted to come back when we could see that.

So we thought we would come back one week later than when we were there the last time.

However we didn't want the kids missing that much school and we also found out that a lot of the decs would not be up at that point and so we bit the bullet and we are now going on Thanksgiving week. The good is my kids won't miss much school (we are taking them out a day before and 2 days after) but the bad is we have never gone during such a busy time so we are not used to it. We DO go to DL all the time during busy times so we are used to touring like that but I am NOT looking forward to it that's for sure.

Also we are taking my dad this time and he is alot like your inlaws. I am really afraid he is going to ruin things by complaining and causing problems. We are SO excited especially since this may be our last trip for a LONG time because all the prices have gone up and especially because of that I am afraid it is going to get ruined.

Hopefully for BOTH our sakes that won't happen! See you there! ;)

Dont let the fear of crowds ruin your vacation - Make your own magic. I booked our surprise vacation the absolute worse week to go. At first I was very down then I started planning scheduled activites such as behind the seeds, BBB, pirates cruise, GOAL experience, etc. We are going to have a great time even if it takes us forever to get from one place to another. I used tour guide mike to pick the rides / attractions we really should see - We will save the rest for another trip. We booked three resturants a day - so we will always have someplace to eat if we want to - I will cancel if we are not hungry. Do some off site attractions such as ICE at the gaylord palms - actually just going out there for dinner at the buffet they have is worth the 5 minute taxi ride. Let go of the crowd pressure - YOURE GOING TO DISNEY!!!! Make your own magic!!!

we try to go every other year, and for the last 4 or so my BIL, SIL, and MIL have been saying, " Let's all go together!"

I don't wanna hurt their feelings, but a trip like that would probably be a bad idea. We went to the zoo together once and really had a bad experience. Why do they think 5 days or more would work when 5 hours could not?

I do like the idea about "losing" them!!

:cool1: My MIL and BIL go with us most times and I make ADRs with the understading of when and where--we just meet mostly for meals and then if we agree we tour the parks together. Just give them permission to enjoy their family time and meet you for a meal a couple of days. It also helps if you stay at different resorts and decide on a meet time and place. If they want to do MK then you say we will meet you there at 2p.m. then do what you want til then. Of course you could just be honest and say "you guys are bumming me out, lets separate for a while and meet up later--they may be thinking the same thing just afraid to admit it. :thumbsup2
