Alright, first we were going to fly. Except we couldn't get airfare for less than $850. So then we were going to drive. Then we lost the car that we were going to drive. So then we were going to rent a car and drive. Except we didn't reserve our car yet and that is going to cost $350 plus gas and the price is going up about $30 a day. Well I just looked at Amtrak today and they have announced kids ride free on auto train this summer. I am assuming that in order to figure the cost online, I just put in 2 adults. Doing this, it will only be about $40 more than renting the car. If I can use the AAA discount, it will be a few dollars less than the car. How in the world do I decide???

Train travel is nice, but it will be a long ride. The advantage is a) no bathroom stops b) both adults will be available to entertain kids c) no need to say, "I'm going to turn this car around!" if the kids are acting up. :) When are you going to travel?

what is the time differnce- I think I would go with the train- You probably wont be as tired!

just whatever you want to do more, or for adventure take the train.

If you won't need the car once in Florida, one of Amtrak's standard trains (Silver Star or Silver Meteor) would also be an option.

We started taking our Disney trips long ago, 1977 by driving, throw in 3 plane trips and some mixed train and driving experiences and now, we're late 50's and I have an aversion to flying, always do Amtrak. Last 10 or so trips have been by train. Yes, its long, 27 hours but it beats driving. We arrive relaxed and refreshed and not on pins and needles from a stressful drive, maps, breakdowns, truck traffic, detours and we used to drive straight through and the last driving trip, waited to long to book the train, we stopped at 10pm for the night, added expense, and hit the road real early to make up time and to get to Disney as fast as possible.

Train travel is great, nice pair of seats, plenty of leg room, A/C. Food is expensive but edible. We usually book coach first leg and from DC to Kissimmee we get a roomette, very small sleeper, holds only 2, but its quiet, we can lay down to sleep, get a newspaer in the am and all meals are included in the price. We use our reward points for the sleeper mostly and its great to just wake up, be in Florida, have our free breakfast and get ready to detrain in a couple of hours at WDW. Only way we'll get to go to Disney anymore.
